  • I've been looking at these for a couple of years now. Still going to hold off though as they haven't really improved over time and I know the minute I buy one there'll be a significant performance/feature boost announced. (all brands, not just this one)

      You must be pretty tired

      • what a beautiful day

The FDM formula is pretty well nailed down at this point, to the point they're starting to add marginally better stuff. Like the only upgrade you're really looking at for this is maybe adding a beefier hotend/extruder assembly if you want to print with some of the more demanding materials. Linear rails if you want to go that little bit extra?

If you're looking to jump in, just jump in, it'll be some years for the fancier, more capable tech to filter down to a consumer level that'd blow this machine out of the water.

    • Prusa XL, looking at $2700 AUD plus 10% customs on top that that. Better off with a Voron kit.

Quality control on Evnovo printers has gone to crap - I tell friends and clients to look elsewhere now. Specifically, I’ve worked on a nearly 20 of the X1 model. One failed to properly insulate the mains voltage cables on the heated bed. One had a power supply floating loose inside which had dislodged the cover of the SSR = more exposed mains voltage. Only about 7 of them had beds that were flat enough for full prints without mesh levelling, one had a dead mainboard, one had a mainboard with test firmware which immediately ripped up the bed, a couple had to have the nozzles replaced because the test filament had been roasting in there too long or hot and was so carboned to be impossible to clean out to give good filament flow. More than half of them have already fried an X cable, 3 have done the y cable too. The part quality is generally ok (except ribbon cable) but assembly is always the let down. Walk away I say.

    • Thanks for sharing. Is there any recommendations for better one with same feature set in this price range?

  • Given you could get a Voxelab Aquila X2 for $217 during the recent singles day sales, this would have to be a pretty amazing printer.

  • I got my X1 back in 2019 for $432 during 11.11 sales, & cashrewards. was pretty good until 2 years later when I burnt out the PTFE tube due to PETG temps. rebuilding the extruder it seems to never be the same again, thinking of getting a Hemera for it. still havent been able to match the quality of my heavily upgraded Cocoon Create Touch 3d with Microswiss hotend, but the sidewinder was pretty amazing out of the box without the need to tinker with it so much.
