Is that a good idea? I always worry the metal on metal contact could wreck the surface so put a tea towel between them.

I'll give it a go, I do all the wrong things with them- high temps and dishwashers but wooden or silicone utensils. I had some Baccarat stone pans I'm close to retiring after about 5 years and some Tefals on the go for 1 year, so I'll be interested to compare to the IKEA model. The only thing I do to look after them is a quick wipe with oil after they come out of the dishwasher before storing.

Tefal are rubbish pans. Was lectured from Myer when returning under warranty (18 months old) using the pan under high heat with spray oil caused the surface to bubble. Same issue happened on the replacement. Have had zero issues with scanpan proiq.
In fairness, the instructions are pretty explicit. Scanpan also warns about overheating, though their non-stick products are ovenproof up to 260°C. Tefal is good for delicate fish, eggs, crepes, etc.
