I have 2 of these bad boys!

    Pros
    - 6-8 weeks battery life
    - Software surprisingly good
    - MicroSD card support
    - app/Desktop client good
    - Works well with google assistant

    Bad
    - Slow to react
    - Notifications sometimes dont show
    - no IP camera /3rd party support

    Cant go wrong for $90

    • can you elaborate on the 'slow to react'?

      • It reacts 'slooooooowly….'

        • its a 3-5 second delay from someone walking in-frame and getting a notification takes another 3-4 seconds

router is 3m away from my front door too..

So if someone walks up the driveway

i wont know for 10+ seconds haha

            @Mortgagetightass:

i wont know for 10+ seconds haha

by which time, they're half way down the street with your new bicycle…

          • @Mortgagetightass: Try playing with how the detection beam is placed, I found with a bit of tweaking and angling my units, I got the detection to be how I want it.

With my Argus Eco I even have it detecting possums hanging out on the top of my fence every night :)

@bdl: I spent ages fiddling with my Argus 2 and at best it still only catches someone mid frame. Still decent value, but detetion wise its vastly inferior to my cheaper Wyze cams.

        • Same to my arlo too, so I guess these battery operated cameras are no much differences in terms of delaying.but for this price, I can interested to give it a go. Led spot light seems a great feature .

    • By "no IP camera support" do you mean it doesn't work with Blue Iris?

      • No RTSP, so yes

        • What a shame - I had two of the Solar Argus 2s literally arrive yesterday, I had assumed they had RTSP. On the plus side they were delayed by Amazon to the point that I received a refund!

    • i've got the 2, does it take 5-10 secs for the connecting to the camera when you open the app?

      • not for mine

    • Isn't "that 6-8 weeks battery life" should go under Bad?

  • Van this b connected to other software?

    • No, only reolink app - but in saying that, it's very good

I've found these cameras and app ecosystem much better (reliable, faster) than the Yi Outdoor one

    • If you have no life, Home Assistant

      • Booooo, home assistant IS life!

  • no Alexa support?

update: ah ok, it seems Alexa support is 'coming soon'

    • +1

      Should work.
Alexa communicates with the Reolink skill, and will show the camera feed on your Alexa device. Works with the Argus 2,and can't see why it wouldn't work with the Argus 3.

Get the newer Argus 3 Pro with solar power

    • +1

Not exactly comparable as they cost double the money.

  • Aliexpress will be cheaper when there Singles sale starts.
Also if you want the Solar Panel, Aliexpress will be quite a bit cheaper.
I'm thinking about getting this mostly to check in that my dog is getting looked after while I'm on Holiday.
Still debating between this and Argus 2 because the 2 has a removeable battery.

    • So far their Panels are more expensive on Ali?

      • +1

My bad - you can buy a bundle on Ali.

  • Can any of these systems backup to OneDrive

  • Trying to find out the difference between the Argus 3 and the Argus 3 pro? Also wondering if these can hook into Synology surveillance station?

    • +1

      https://reolink.com/au/comparison/

According to that, the only difference is Pro does 2.4/5ghz and the 3 only does 2.4ghz.
But im sure there will be other differences as that is a very minor change between the two
