I am looking for lawn mower for my dad. My back yard is around 50-60m and the front is around 20m.
I saw this in Bunnings but not sure is reliable or not?
If not could anyone please recommend?
Thank you so much

I am looking the lawn mower for him.
OP and his dad lives in the same house…
OP is buying a lawn mower for his dad to mow the lawn … not for the OP to mow the lawn even though he lives there
Op don’t live with dad mate
for my dad
My back yard is around 50-60m and the front is around 20m
Is it your back yard or your dads ?
If it's for your dad, then why are you telling us about your back yard unless it's the same one. "Mate"
@Archi: Huh, nice pickup….maybe he was too lazy to write "Dad's backyard" so just said "My backyard"
@Archi: Pretty obvious. OP bought an investment property, rents it out to his dad, who has to mow the lawn.
OP bought an investment property
who buys investment property with 50-60m + 20m yard 🤔
@kaleidoscope: He is going to retire to it. Just needs dad to start mowing that lawn to ready his arrival.
@Archi: OP already as a lawn mower and is just looking for his dad's mower. He's already searched over his yards but to no avail. He saw a similar mower on Bunnings' site, but not sure if it's a reliable enough lead for him to pop over and begin the recovery mission.
@mun4: Actually probably buying a mower for his 80 year old dad to come over and mow OP's lawn
detective archi is so smart.
Any lawn mower will do.
Choice between petrol and battery but NOT electric
he will probably appreciate a cordless battery powered model
For the same money Id recommend this:
Ozito PXC 18V Brushless Lawn Mower Kit
Appears to be highly rated/recommended - 4.2 stars from 5
https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-18v-brushless-lawn-mow…
I had that ozito and it died within 12 months, replaced it with a ryobi. A lot better for not much more money.
I've had a really good run with Ozito, 5 year warranty too. My mower and batteries are still going strong.
I do like Ryobi though, one thing which tempts me is 3/8 ratchet wrench. Wish Ozito would have one of those.
https://www.ryobi.com.au/products/details/18v-one-3-8-ratche…
Powered by Yardking 127cc OHV engine
Never heard of these.
if you are going to buy a petrol mower stick with know engines such as Victa 2 stroke or Briggs & Stratton 4 stroke
You get parts everywhere for these and they can be readily serviced..
if anything goes wrong with the YardKing nobody will touch it…throw away job!
2 stroke? didn't they make them illegal years ago?
just get a battery one, Ryobi for example, from Bunnings
If you live in a small place battery is a great idea, it won't smell as much so can be stored inside and mechanically they're just simpler with less to go wrong/maintain
Also don't have to mess around with fuel and oil.
agree
Any particular can you recommended
Ego - the best battery mowers.
Yep. EGO is the most powerful.
If you want a dirt cheap battery lawn mower, Ozito is probably the way to go
@Boogerman: Have to agree, went out to by a Ryobi a few years ago and came home with the EGO Power + Mower. So impressed with how goo it works I bought the self winding lawn edger. Never go back to a petrol mover
This is better value than the Ozito because of the higher amperage (2x20v)
@Boogerman: 20v peak vs 18v nominal = same same.
@zealmax: True, but this is a 2 battery unit. Ozito is only 1
@Boogerman: Ozito has 2 battery unit too. I got the Aldi one and it seems to do the job on my buffalo lawn.

Just bought that mower today (ozito 18V) - fine for my small backyard, does it all on one charge. 5 year warranty is good too. Had a corded electric lawnmower before and so glad not to have to use that anymore.
Sounds very similar, but different OP:

More than one person needs a lawn mower in this country—im shocked!!
Can't read…
i use this to mow 8000 m2 when my ride on gives up periodically, its pretty good for the price
Does it take 3 days to do with a 16" deck?
6 hours was rooted and prob missed heaps more likely did 6000m2 as gave up
Is the one I mentioned above ?
My dad's last lawn mower was a Victa 4-stroke that lasted 30 years so we went with something similiar https://www.bunnings.com.au/victa-18-classic-cut-mulch-or-ca… said it works great.
Tip is to go for a reliable brand to save you the hassle when it comes to physical activity.
Mulching function is great. I haven't bothered to use the catcher in years. Make mowing so much easier/quicker
100%
I have this. Going strong after 8 years.
Perhaps go to Bunnings and ask them? They'll have experience or knowledge of the products they sell to suit your needs (or at least information/needs that you provide to them).
They'll have experience or knowledge of the products they sell
Which particular Bunnings store is this?
Unicornville
.
Thanks. I'll swing by the store next time I'm in the area.
They'll have experience or knowledge of the products they sell
reading that made my mind BSOD
Replies suggest better to ask ozb. As you were OP.
Better still, go to your local, independent garden tool specialist.
Now they will have this knowledge that you speak of
I have Sanli bought from K Mart 15 years back and still running good, great machine just got service 2 times in 15 years.
it's available in a few shops as well as HN. This lawnmower is service by local company and spares are still available.

Going by my local Bunnings I'd say the Bunnings at Paracosm would have mower experience or knowledge of the products they sell.
At Paroxism?
This Victa looks good…
Nice, any Black Friday deals on them?
@Dr Techno: That's not discounted though…
@Dr Techno: That's just the spare.
What sort of lawn does he have? Are those measurements square metres or just length? If it's 80sqm total, a petrol mower is overkill.
Min cutting height of 35mm isn't that low really, it's ok for Buffalo but pretty long for couch or similar. Ryobi battery mowers go lower.
Provided you mow it often and don't let it get excessively long (and don't try and mow when it's wet), just get a cheapish battery mower from Ozitio or Ryobi.
I think its just the length. Its not big yard at all.
Mulching mowers are what I prefer. No Grass Catcher to worry about, and all the nutrients in the grass leaves are recycled back through the lawn.
You pay a bit extra, but definitely worth it in my opinion:)
Same here, in 10 years I have never used a catcher.
Great way of recycling the clippings rather than putting them in a bin - which so many of my neighbours seem to do
You do realize that your green bin waste is recycled too. Look up what your local council does with it.
Not all councils have a green bin
In that case, I'm saving the council a job by recycling other valuable green waste.
The trimmings go back where they come from
I've had a Victa Classic Cut / Advantage for 10 years. Never missed a beat.
Service it every 2 years using the bunnings kit.
1 Pull start all the time. Only changed the blades once so far.
https://www.bunnings.com.au/victa-18-classic-cut-mulch-or-ca…
But, it's big and heavy, I have 300 SQM, so perfect for me, but only 20 to 50 SQM, you should look at a battery powdered one.
Do you mean 50-60 m2 or 50-60m length ?
I have about 200m2 and a cheap Ozito battery mower from Bunnings is perfect
go electric, it's not massive …
if it's 8x8m, that's pretty small - i'm pretty sure i saw flymo corded lawn mowers on clearance at bunnings mile end (SA) for about $129 - super light and easy …
if your dad's kind of old, get him electric, lighter, less problems trying to start it
My dad near 80
and you still want him to mow the lawn..
"do the right thing"
80! Gotta be kidding me. Just pay for a gardener to take care of this. Or go mow it for him.
@RudedogandDweebs: Lol and here I am going to demand my old dad to come over and mow my lawn because I’m lazy
Save 50c
My dad is 80 and wants to mow his own lawn, doesn't want a bar of it when I offer to mow his lawn.
@42: He raised lazy, entitled kids and he is going to keep it that way! ;)
Aldi have self propelled lawnmower coming up soon $250
Don’t buy a new petrol mower. Get either corded electric (cheaper, good power, less convenient) or a battery mower (convenient, more expensive for good power)
I do around 300m2 with a 36v and 5ah battery. It’s not brilliant power wise, but I got it cheap and not keen on Paying lots more for a bit more power.
Does your dad have other cordless tools? Just get a matching mower for the existing batteries.
My father used petrol lawnmower before so no we don't have cordless tool.
Cordless drill?
Buy him a cordless drill while you're at it, then.
If it is a simple lawn, then I agree. Plus breathing in petrol fumes is not healthy.
I was hesitant about electric but got a cheap one to trim the grass at my Villa when selling.
The one that I had was was excellent, however the cut was a bit narrow.
If the land is even and doesn't have obstacles, maybe you can consider robo lawn mower. I've set up Moebot S5 on my front yard and works really well.
It's a bit of setup (installing boundary wire), but afterwards it's hassle-free and very quiet.
I purchased an Electric mower from Aldi, love it, it has a great feature of being self propelled if you need it
https://mowercentre.com.au/product/lawn-mower-masport-presid…
if you are going to go petrol, buy one like this. they do a really nice cut
easy to start
Push-button start would be a nice feature for an elderly gentleman.

I got the electric Ryobi 36v a few months ago. It's very good but more on the pricy side
https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-lithium-36v-5-0ah-18-brush…
Yes don't get the model down. The non brushless 36v. It is good, but I could use a bit more grunt on the longer grass.
Had the older Ryobi 1+ model which uses 2x 18v batteries (not sure if it was total 36v or just extended the duration) and it drove me bananas
Kept stopping with even slightly denser grass
Is this any good?
This one is better than my one. But once you figure out how to mow dense grass (go slow, lift the mower in need) it can be overcome. The brushless one would be able to handle it a bit better and it is also wider so will do the yard quicker.
It is very pricey though and I couldn't afford it when I bought my one 5-6 years ago.
Stil have an EGO from when Masters used to stock them. Costs me a battery every 3 years or so but no other costs as yet.
Does he want a bowling green finish? A reel mower is the way to go for fine leaf lawns like kikuyu or couch. Reel mowers will provide a superior cut over any rotary mower because it cuts with a scissor action.
A second hand reel mower in working condition will start around $500 - $600 depending on your state. Scott bonnar, Alroh and Masport are popular domestic grade reel mowers that you'll see on marketplace/Gumtree.
This is a battery powered one I recently got.
It's the cheapest I could find that's decently high voltage (36V (via two batteries), not 18V), steel-bodied (not plastic), and with brushless motors (more powerful, better battery life). And the 4Ah battery capacity is quite good too. I can definitely recommend it.
I have this one, great mower (steel bodied Ozito). Much lighter and easier to use than a petrol mower.
And so much quieter too!
Another vote for this, I love mine.
I will recommend one, the next one you see on the side of the road. They will be easy to fix and last forever.
If you want to, get the ozito, if your dad doesn't let the grass go too long it will be fine. You can go up from there.
If you want something cheap the corded ozito is supposed to go pretty well. I have the 18v cordless and use it to cut 150 M2. Can do it on 3ah battery. Doesn't cut very low and a pain to Chand height but a lot less hassle than petrol.
What size is your dad's backyard?
or are you buying a mower, so your dad can mow your lawn? ;)
