I have both Arlo and Eufy. I'd like to suggest to choose Arlo if you can.
Eufy support is terrible, and the product is buggy….And some feature they promised 2 years ago are still not coming….

    • really?

Ive done pretty extensive reasearch on these wireless cams and eufy or wyze always seem to come on top.

eventually went with eufy and pretty happy overall

      • Eufy is from a China company, so price is good, feature are rich, but like most of China product, too many bugs…And almost no support at all.
I think the easiest way for you is to go to Arlo/Eufy website, and click support, then you can easily find out the difference…

    • You have to pay for a subscription of you purchase Arlo to get a feature set on par with the Eufy offering. No detection zones, no person detection, access to local storage without a VPN or port forwarding. Very simple features are missing on the Arlo without the subscription.

With this setup, without the hub, all you can do is watch the live stream and have no access to recordings unless you subscribe to Arlo's cloud service, which will come to $14.99 a month or $179.88 a year! If you want local recording, you need for purchase the hub separately for about $250.

It was actually the cheaper product that makes up it's cost with their subscription service, that would make sense, but you are paying the same price as the Eufy device while getting significantly less capability, unless you pay even more. Their cloud options are also premium price! Arlo seems to be relying in it's name and market penetration to force customers only their subscription model.

It does seem like Arlo offers a better product when you have their cloud service, but it will come down to if it is worth it for most users.

    Plus $14.99/mo for storage.

It adds up. 5 years of subscription (which you would hope to get out of it) is $900. That is ON TOP OF the $879 for the cameras themselves.
When it enters that price range, you might as well go wired.

    does this supports onvif?

    • +1

Arlos don't support ONVIF or RTSP, they used to but not anymore.
Eufy's support RTSP, but its not all that useful since wireless battery cameras "sleep" to preserve battery power. So it'll either be black or the RTSP connection will drop.

  • While they have their place (especially in rentals), wireless-battery cameras can have a lot of problems compared to wired.
If you are OK with those issues, that's fine of course, but unfortunately, people don't know about the issues until AFTER they purchased them.
Here is a writeup on the issues with wireless battery cameras.

  • i have been using the 1st Gen since 2017. My Arlo is still going strong and never lose a beat.

  • Does it support NAS

    • You can't connect it to a NAS or store the files on one. It's all proprietary.

  • This supports Apple HomeKit with the base?
Think most of the functionality is behind the cloud storage paywall?

    Anyone comment on HomeKit integration?

  • are these cameras good for shop surveilance ?

    • +2

Really depends on the shop layout and size, but you should generally stick to prosumer or professional-grade cameras for a shop setting.
You especially would want 24/7 recording rather than on-motion like these.
Wireless battery cams "wake up" when they detect motion, and sleep when there isn't any to preserve battery. With "shop levels of motion" the battery would drain very quickly.

      • These cameras offers 24/7 recording (a bit expesive, something like $12.99/per camera per month) or local storage in a sd card.
You have the option to plug in a power source (cable sold separately)
