      • that's a short holiday?..i'm looking at going in the mid-semester break from uni..for like a week.

        • Shortest I've taken in 7+ years. So I like to keep my costs down. Cheap flights in region or often onto Europe from Singapore/KL. My cards list my occupation as traveller, but I just travel for food & fun.

      • +5

Sorry I forgot the purpose of this comment section was to make wankerish comments about my jetsetting travel habits.

        • lol

LOL I though OB was about getting the best deal - so you can travel for as long as possible, and work as little as you need! Thats the OB spirit.
In Malaysia, it is possible to be well fed for $5 a day, & have a bungalow by the beach for $10/night. Elsewhere, I sleep on beaches or in Shrines, get drunk with local fishermen I can't understand, as long as its cheap or free.

        • At $160 return, it doesn't cost or mean much to have a jetsetting lifestyle these days!

    • I booked on 2 July - 9 July :)

  • I hope that more get released in the morning maybe

  • Booked $368 Return for 2 people. Nice :)

  • Can't register, something wrong there. Where do you go to book a ticket without registering?

    • Try tommorrow, when its open to those who did not register.
From memory, Scoot deal was posted on OB on 12 March, but taken down quikly as spam. Saw the chance & registered then.

Thanks to mskeggs was onto that quicker than sh!t to a dipper!
Booked return flights for me and a mate around the F1 for a week, got tickets to the f1 grandstand and hes sorting out acommo now.
My day just got a whole lot more awesome.

  • awwww
all the school holiday flights are gone back to 199 except for ScootBiz.

  • Was seat selection free? Looks like $4 for standard now..

    • It was $0 for the FLYBAGEAT option I selected

    • Included in dearer FLY-BAG-EAT, otherwise $4.
I let them pick a seat on way over during day, but booked seat on night flight back for SGD6 ($3.76), as like a restful sleep in a window seat.

  • damn… return flights for the week after the F1 aren't cheapies :(

  • Site downnnnnn

  • So. I booked the wrong date accidentally on the return leg. Any idea of how to contact them to resolve this ?

  • got my tix! yay! thanks for this post!

  • Does anyone gone past the banner of "site Full"

  • Thanks. Just bought 4x return for $1600 during school holidays.

    • i think that's standard 199 fare.

      • +3

I hope $200 one way stays as standard fare - it's still cheap!

  • Just booked 2 returns from Gold Coast to Singapore for August, will be flying onto Thailand from there! Woot

  • and then the company goes bust.

  • wow, only june though :( but great deal!

  • Booked Gold Coast - SIN return for under $170 (in 2 legs). One thing I like about AirAsia and Jetstar is that their planes are relatively new, I figured Scoot would be the same, but I just read that Scoot has announced it's first plane which is an ex-SIA plane that is 15 years old. Is 15 years considered 'old' compared to other carriers? Not sure if I should be worried or not.. http://www.airfleets.net/ficheapp/plane-b777-28507.htm

you're flying with an extremely low cost airline they gotta cut costs somewhere :P

  • Just booked for July :)

  • Great deal! Just a shame it would cost me more than that to fly to Sydney!!

  • This is not going to be another Tiger. This is wholly owned by Singapore Airlines and they have smart people working on it. They already have brand recognition through this promotion with 80,000 people registered last time I looked without a dollar spent on traditional advertising as yet.

So anyway, last Friday I bought Jetstar Friday madness sale fare MEL-SIN for $199 in May (I needed to get there before Scoot launches), a special Cebu Pacific fare for $45 each way to Cebu, and now I have my Scoot flight 16th of July for $83 (it was in SGD) from SIN-SYD. Then $60 back to Melbourne.

Return trip with stopovers in Cebu, Singapore (and KL), plus Sydney is pretty damn good for $433 :)

  • Just wondering….for people who got in early…were there $88 flights for pretty much most dates??

just trying to book now and having trouble trying to get $88 flights both ways :(

i can either fly in late june/early july or early oct - I manage to get $88 one way, but the other flight is either $199 or $173

    • i used to be almost $88 everyday, just 3-4 days exception each month

      • damn, i was in class all day…
education does not pay, clearly. :(

i wonder if they'll release more $88 flights tomorrow for the non-member sale…hmmm…

        • when's that? midnight?

  • sorry guys, why this post is not a dup deal? and why this post move to forum?http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/66133
the current post also for member only, and mod give the trick to manipulate the system and what derp post is for tomorrow where the deal is not active yet, and my understanding deal that not active shouldn't be allow to be post in here.

seems have double standard in here

follow the rule, member will respect to you. if you don't follow the rule, no point you have the rule in place.
once you break the rule you will break this rule again in the future.

    • There was a suggestion 8.5 hrs ago on how to book flights without pre-registering.
So anyone could book this deal. Like some things on OB, you just needed to read a post from a helpful OBer. Others said it worked.

      • if mskeggs doesn't put this trick then this post should be void as well right as not follow the rule as we shouldn't post the deal that not active.

if my post wasn't move to forum then mskeggs still put the comment then my deal become active as well?

        funny

        • That's it - posted twice it was so good. The earlier post got the most '+' votes of the thread, usually a good indication that it might be of interest. It works!
But strange how yours was pulled & transferred to Forums minutes earlier than this dup.

        • +1

yeah but this post is a dup.

      • +2

you don't even need mskeggs trick, as manyu882 said the deal is live now if you go directly to https://book.flyscoot.com/ , no email address required

  • hardly any more $88 flights left

  • Got Gold Coast to Singapore for $305 return (including 15kg luggage each way and seat selection) :( Not that cheap compared to earlier in the day but it was the last relatively cheap fare left (in mid-July), the rest are all $199 each way now….

Any suggestions on what to do in Singapore (by myself) for a week? haha.

    • +3

Eat, eat and eat some more, LOL

  • yes!

finally got dates for a short trip,

does anyone have a contact number?

i forgot to pick the seats, only picked 1 of the 2 seats in seat allocation page.

*EDIT: their call center comes active at 6am SGP time.

Heaps more sales fares available now.

  • $453 2 people from sydney with 20kg/25kb return and meals :D
    THANK YOU OZBARGAIN!

    • Wninja, did you make 2 separate bookings? One from SYD to SIN paid in AUD and another from SIN to SYD paid in SGD. Taking advantage of the stronger AUD to about 1.3 SGD.

  • Thanks, I just booked from july 26 to august 29th. I did not get charged the credit card fee

  • Thanks! I booked a return flight to singapore from gold coast for $206.35 including baggage. =) (booked each way separately.. thats the amount taken out of my account so includes fees and so on.)

  • anyone got any recs about good accommodation deals in singapore?

    • +2

Good idea to tell us your needs - how many people, how many nights, what standard/budget.
Others will probably give good advice. (Long time traveller, first visit to Singapore.)

For suggestions of what to see & do, plus user reviews of mainly hotels, try http://www.tripadvisor.com.au/Tourism-g294265-Singapore-Vaca…

I'm a cheap bastard travelling alone for months, so often go for backpackers.
Plenty of places with user reviews at http://www.hostelworld.com/search?search_keywords=Singapore%… (just change the dates etc)
Click on map view for locations, to choose one near where you want to visit. Be warned, comments may be biased by the age group/type of travellers - eg some travel just to drink, so a place with cheap drinks trumps a good sleep! Reviewers rarely stay at more than 1 place in a location, and yet rate it as the best, so be wary. Privates can be good quality & value for those travelling with someone. Good place to meet travelers & pick up local advice, but usually low on luxury.

      Also brief city guides
      http://www.lonelyplanet.com/singapore
      http://www.hostelworld.com/guides/city-guides/singapore/sing…

Or for the cheapest (free), most unpredictable, & possibly most interesting stay try http://www.couchsurfing.org/

But I won't be staying long as Singapore/KL are good cheap airports for trips into region (from a few dollars with AirAsia), or even onto Europe (got $128 AirAsia flight to London a while back). Away from Singapore, http://www.tunehotels.com/ can be cheap, clean basic hotels affiliated with AirAsia, so often cheap when booked during specials.

      • thanks.. its a family holiday. 2 adults, 2 kids (6 and 3 years old).. standard/budget- medium 3.5-4 star

      • AirAsia flights on from KL (priced from)
        to India from $66, China $48, Jakarta/Vietnam $24, Borneo $20
Am considering 3 weeks in Burma at $100 return. (Shown on ABC Foreign Correspondent program this week)

Cheap hotels are in Geylang area, about $50/night will get you a decent hotel.

      • Or a cheap share room in that area for $10/n with free air-con & internet

  • You have to swim back?

  • July school holidays now around $230 one way. It seems $199 is not their standard price.

  • Just got a fly/bag /eat for $379 return in August so I'm pretty happy with that :) No credit card charge extra either. I did book with a friend on 2 separate browsers as when I tried 2 adults the $88 fare didn't show up but switching between them got us the same price and days. Happy to escape the Sydney cold.

  • is it game over now?

    • There's no $88 fare left at all now for SYD-SIN. Cheapest is $199 to SIN, and $173 back.

For Gold Coast, there's ONE day with $88 fare, 24th Oct OOL-SIN. Otherwise it's cheapest $199 to SIN, and $169 back.

      • ^ It is still pretty good to have the flights at this price if it is going to be the norm. You could get cheap connecting flights to other places in Asia via AirAsia, TigerAirways flights. I think this is great!!

    • yes it is game over

      i tried to book

but couldnt find any 88$ left :(
