Don't bother…… Always more expensive going through these refereed discount deals for the same rooms / fares….
even using their own discount codes ie trip/agoda/booking etc for being platinum member etc….
They all have very sophisticated and dynamic pricing which always falls in the favour of the house…..
Talking from recent experience, I've found some hidden gems on Agoda (a few price blunders on their end when booking a package to Fiji). I guess everyone has slightly different experiences with these websites.
Sure can, I use agoda all the time….when I finally book…. but these referral deals usually bump the price to accommodate the discount. Better to go incognito and directly via google maps / skyscanner or the like
That's not always true. I've often found the pricing is identical whether using cash back apps or not.
They all vary but I find Trip.com particularly more expensive when booking through ShopBack. Also, if you want to pay later, they don't accept debit card to guarantee. You can use debit card for pay now.
Hotels are usually always more expensive on trip
depending on where you're traveling I guess
the hotel I was trying to get was the same on all platforms, including the hotel's own website, but I managed to get 12.5% off Expedia + 5% st George bank bonus yesterday, so as long as it tracked properly and gives 17.5%, then I won't be sad on not getting this…
ShopBack and Trip.com messed up the tracking on my last booking via the 10% cashback offer.
Mad shit show with the original tracking only being tracked at 1% or something, which was ultimately fixed.
Correct tracked amount was showing.
Went to check on it a few weeks later and is showed some random amount (less) being tracked.
Emailed back with invoice, etc and the guy was still harping on about the incorrect amount being the correct tracked amount.
Messaged back and told them to look at the actual invoice I attached where it shows what I paid, etc.
Apparently it's been escalated but still haven't heard anything back.

Interested to book an international flight. Does anyone know if trip.com charge in AUD or any other currency like USD? I had an experience with other booking website showing AUD but actually charge in USD so I got sting with fx fees. Thanks.

My transactions have tracked - happy with the hotel one, but the flight is very low - probably due to taxes. My tickets are $2.3k so I was hoping atleast $200, but they have only tracked at $89.
Still a fair amount on flights which is normally nothing I guess.
When going through ShopBack app it opens the Trip.com app is that fine ?

Don't bother. I just compared the flights with sky scanner and trip is definitely higher even after the cashback.
