Split across the sole? Is this UB4.0 or earlier?
They were UB climas, not sure if earlier than 4.0
And yes right across the sole
Been using a pair of UB 20s for over a year now with daily usage, and it's held up extremely well; just one or two scuff marks around the edges.
What do you do with your shoes that causes them to split in half after only 6 months?
Just daily walks aiming for 10,000 steps and going to the gym. Never went on a run in them
you got a lemon I think
@josepet: Sweat shop quality control ain't what it used to be
I'm with you. The soles seem a little soft for my liking. Significant wear within 3 months.
Yep and the clima I had was with a Flyknit body which made the shoe very breathable but left no ankle support so had a few turned ankles.
Totally. They're super comfy but they wear out like they're made from butter.
I'm assuming if you're Pegasus all the way then you're a runner and running in your boosts. Boosts really aren't great for running - they are much better as everyday sneakers, walking, gym etc.
I agree that Pegs are much better for running but they look too much like runners for everyday use.
I did exactly what you say they're for - walking, gym and some trips to the shops. Was really disappointed in the fit too. All in all the worst runner I've ever worn.
like for actual running?
My ultraboosts are strictly casual shoes.
If you're going to go for a run I'd probably suggest Saucony/New Balance over Nike/Adidas, although a lot of this is subjective.
Brooks.
also very good.
Yep. Doesn't look nice. But the shoes are built to last.

Lol so true. They perform like a Porsche but look like a Lada. Imagine if Brooks got their act together and made a cooler looking shoe. They'd sell millions.
I did a half marathon in UB20s and they were fine. I agree, proper running shoes are better. I like very cushiony shoes for my knees and shins.
A half marathon would almost kill me, if I attempted it in UB I reckon it would definitely kill me. Even when I was running regularly I typically would only do 5-10km.
If you like a well cushioned shoe (as do I) I reckon the Saucony Triumph series are excellent, I recently got a pair of last years model (18) and I'm really enjoying them, to the extent that I could say I enjoy running after doing virtually nothing all lockdown.

The funny thing is that up until about 20 years ago, all athletic shoes were much much worse than any of today's shoes. Yet people still managed to set world records with them. This tells us a lot about how soft we have become.
Nike's are top-tier for running - the pegasus / pegasus turbo models are fantastic, let alone their higher end next% gear (although i'm not sure anyone on ozbargain needs that level of performance)
My UB 20's split as well. I never used them for running. Contacted Adidas and I got a full refund.
Man I should have thought about this before I threw them out in a fit of rage!
You were lucky, my ultraboost split after 6 weeks (5km morning walk, 5-days/wk). I contacted Adidas multiple times and got no response. Never again.
Yeah my 20's split across the bottom once I wore through the rubber, which didn't take very long at all, mainly casual use with maybe a couple 5k runs a week.
They maybe lasted a 9 months maybe before the splitting, and TBH for around $80-$100 I can live with that as I really liked the comfort, much prefer them to the pegasus I am wearing now.The cause of the splitting for me at least is pretty obvious, the UB foam is made of the little balls unlike most shoes where its a single molded piece, the little balls separate under tension, this coupled with the thin and quick wearing sole is the cause IMO.
I’ve had about 10 pairs of ultraboost purely for the comfort and I like the style of them. But I have to agree, they don’t last long at all, my soles wear through and eventually the boost cracks and splits towards the front where my toes meet my foot. I don’t run in them either, just gym and walking. Made of cheese it seems
Same, one and done
I've had my ub20 for past 2-3 years for weekly running. Maybe their QC has dropped since then
Can't speak for the quality of Nike Pegasus but my last three pairs of runners have been UBs and have each been great quality. No issues apart from the slow degradation that you'd expect from a running shoe. Just as comfortable as Kayanos in my opinion and they slip on easily. Can't find Kayanos for $84 anywhere on the net…
When do Adidas drop new summer clothes? T-shirts etc…any insiders know? or is it progressively?
In three days, but most of them are already sold out?
It's the crap they struggle to sell.
There is another 30% promo running at the moment on selected shoes. Promo code is AFTERPAY.
Those ultraboosts are hard to get on.
You should be going half a size larger than your normal shoes
"normal shoes" as in non-running shoes?
i take my usual size for nike and asics and they're fine. what Eeples probably means is the bootie construction makes it hard to get your foot in. what i do is cut into the "tongue" about 1cm and that makes it a lot easier.
Is this tighter fit consistent across all ultraboosts? I'm planning on returning my DNA 5.0 to increase half a size, and buy a few other pairs a half size up as well.
Those ultraboosts are hard to get on.
Lol, the fix for this is to get a bigger size. Sounds simple I know, but kids these days…
This is the third round now. A lot of shoes are all running out of sizes.
Nothing better than Boost tbh. Ultra Boost especially makes it impossible to get anything else if comfort is the number one priority.
I wish they made work shoes with boost. They do make safety shoes with steel/composite toe caps with boost.
I've just done a web search and couldn't find anything
Could you tell me which brand?Adidas
Purely for going out use. For any actual "athletic" purpose, they're shit.
Didn’t like the Stan smiths. Too vinyl-y if that helps anyone.
Was thinking about getting them. What do you mean by vinyl-y?
They don’t feel soft, I guess it feels a lot like plastic on the outside and affects flexibility.
Any good deal on Adidas golf cap?
No sizes

sorry accidentally down voted ur comment
No shorts ever.
I've had Xiaomi shoes I got for ~$60 and been wearing everyday at work for 2 years. Tbh I'd probably get them again over UB. They used to be fantastic 4 years ago.
Still $84 too much for UB. My first and last pair lasted 6 months before splitting right across the middle. Nike Pegasus all the way.
