      • I wouldn't call rego a government charge, there is no indication that it doesn't "count" for the minimum spend criteria, and it does earn the standard amount of reward points (1.5 per dollar) so for it not to count towards the spend is clearly someone trying to make up a reason after the fact.

Eligible purchase means purchases which are eligible to earn Reward Points. Purchases which are not eligible to earn Reward Points are described in the ANZ Rewards - Rewards Program Terms and Conditions (PDF 468kB), for example interest charges, fees, cash advances, cash equivalent transactions, balance transfers and transactions for gambling or gaming purposes and reversed or refunded transactions will not count towards your qualifying eligible purchases.

        • that seems dodgy then. If you get the points but not the min spend criteria then something is awry. Have you called them out on this? Seems that they wanna have their cake and eat it too.

I still haven’t received mine $500 gift card yet from the last deal. even after spending $1500

  • Minimum credit limit?
    found it .. $6k

  • +1

Took quite a few phone calls to finally get the GCs sent last time. The application process was a nightmare too. Would not recommend.

  • +1

Tried getting this. Application process is a nightmare like most have experienced and so is the call back system.

You tell them to call back between 10 to 12 (based on the options they provide) and they call at 6pm…

  • What can you do with 180k points?

  • +5

ANZ customer service is probably the worst i have ever experienced

    • +12

      Haha Username checks out! cheeky

Got approved, spent money to get $500 GC. Just as I did and made repayments over the balance, they cancelled card without explanation. Asked for a reason, got told they are not obliged to provide under their t&Cs. Needless to say, I got no GC. Corkscrew be bothered chasing. Douchebags. Absolute fkwits. Time wasters. Avoid.

    • Damn thats dirty AF - Did they give any reason why cancellation?

      • Nope. Maybe as I have an awesome credit rating or maybe I paid more than the balance or maybe they don't want to part with $500 or all of the above. TBH I was never going to be a lucrative customer for them as I seldom have my balances in debit as I pay in advance.

    • they cancelled your card without explanation?

what's the info you've left out of your post that led up to card cancellation?

  • Thansk Op…ANZ is way better than Westpac. I have had the worst experience recently when I applied for the Westpac credit card offer (receive $400 gift card offer). Westpac kept asking for documents, made me visit a branch to verify ID and kept me there for 1 hour and then in the end I withdrew my credit card application and lodged an official complaint for horrendous application process. I never had such poor experience with any other financial institution.

    • All good OzBro - with me was complete opposite haha - but everyone's journey is different - good to hear you had a seamless experience to give hope to the Negs out here XD - Plz dont neg me lol peace

      • haha no negs from me.

  • There are lots of negative comments from people who have had issues with this offer. Has anyone here actually received the giftcard using this long running offer?

Also, do you actually receive 120,000 reward points which you then redeem for a gift card, rather than just get the gift card sent to you?

    • +1

Yes I got my giftcard and cancelled the card

    • +1

Yep just last month. 120000 points credited to my account within a week of meeting the spending requirement. E-Gift card redeemed and delivered in minutes. I couldn't have been happier with the process.

      • +1

Thank you. That is very helpful.

  • Anyone have any idea about minimum income requirement for rewards black?
    Thanxxxx

  • Next year $95? Also does this apply for non reward cards customers?

I love ANZ because ANZ love me. Been about 8 cards now and always very quick to be approved, never rejected.

    • Wow totally different experience to me. High credit score (mid 800s), own house, 2 six figure salaries, never been an issue with any other bank, but rejected by ANZ.

  • -2

Don’t waste your time guys. Anz will only reject your applications. I hv Six figure jobs and still got rejected.
They just want to get your information for free.

My application took about 10 days before approval. In about day 6, I sent them an email to enquire about progress and they emailed back saying being assessed and will call me in 24-48 hours. Then did not hear from them and suddenly got the approval. I also got a supplementary card for the missus and she went in today to get it activated as she needed to do that in person as never had an account with ANZ. It took about 1/2 hour cos the person didn't know what the heck they were doing. She didn't have a profile and need all this info and questions even after she said its only a supplemenary card so why are they asking her about her details etc. Eventually got activated but what a cluster f. They clearly don't know what is going on.

    • Thanks for this reply, I need to book a trip in the near future and I'd say putting $2000 for it through that would be useful.

Do you know if it has 0$ international xfer fee? I might use it while overseas. Assuming they approve me.

      • ANZ uses the Visa exchange rate + the 3% foreign transaction fee. Only ANZ travel adventures has no foreign transaction fees.

        • No biggie, I can still book the flights on it. Though I've a bad feeling they'll deny me cause I'm not going to be profitable

  • Anyone know if ANZ allows buying of Gift cards to be counted as eligible spend in the $1500 minimum spend limit.

    • +1

I think they would argue it doesn’t count, however their analytics aren’t that good to pick it up. People have been buying Woolys gift cards to cover gaps for a while.

      • How long after paying for an item do we find out the amount of standard ANZ points that transaction has earned?

like e.g. with HSBC DC, get the 2% CB shown pending almost instantly after transacting

  • Just read the cool-down text. So…technically is this on a different cycle than the anz Frequent flyer black? As in I could get both

  • Hey guys, do you know if you are required to have a job to get it? It does not state anywhere in the eligibility other than payslip. I am on Centrelink, worked at one of the biggest corporates but left for academic studies.

    • You got very little chance, I applied for a CBA card when I had no job but $250k cash and they told me "yeah nah"

  • I really don't understand how ANZ's application system is so bad. Got denied online, thought no problem. Then get called the next day asking to go over everything I've already entered in the application, saying it could get approved even though its been denied. Spent about 30 minutes on the phone with a crappy line, talking the guy though every detail. Next day get another call asking to provide more documents, mortgage statements etc. Do that, then get another call the next day and they want more documents, now they want 6 months worth of bank statements. Just hung up, really not worth the effort and giving out what seems like all your financial documents.

  • They keep calling me on the phone and I'm not a telephone guy - I reckon I'll get rejected at this rate cause I miss all the calls (phone on silent)

Like just EMAIL me and let me know a time to answer my phone. I don't have notifications on for ANYTHING, email, SMS, whatsapp, phone calls none of it.

    • I feel like they have some kind of KPI that says they have to call you back 3 times. They called me when I was in a meeting so I ignored it, then they tried to call again and again immediately thereafter.

  • No issues with the application process here, applied and submitted last payslip, they called and requested last 6 payslips, sent them and was approved the next day. Pretty easy

  • Need to jump through plenty of hoops to get this card. Applied for the black card got knocked back for the platinum. So I said yes. After numerous calls and an emails. 4 weeks later still nothing. My credit score is above 800. I do have credit cards with large limits from other banks. Combined with a large mortgage. Might be why I got knocked back. Have a 6 figure paying job. Credit card should not be this hard. Should have applied for the HSBC credit card instead

  • Approved, good stuff, now to find 2k$ to spend fast.

  • Approved with black card, and used the card to pay my council rate (hopefully this is eligible transaction). How long until we receive the bonus points? website said within 3 months (seems like really long timeframe)

    • Unless you paid via BeemIt or Sniip, i really doubt that they will give points to that transaction because of that a payment to government.

      • Just confirmed that I receive rewards points from my txn yesterday. Not sure if the bonus points using the same criteria/not though

        • when do you get to know how many Rewards point a card transaction has earnt you ? instantly after paying (shows pending) ? or like after payment is settled ?

        • How do you check the points hitting the card?

    • Council rates will not count to min spend (unless it's paid via beemit)

      • It does count, confirmed and got the points last friday

        • I had to argue with them for months to get the bonus even though I got points for the transaction.

To stay on the safe side, I would make some extra purchases

    • Have you already got your 180,000 points? I've done 2.5k$ on mine already and only 5000 points.

  • Anyone know what DOESN'T count towards the 2k$?

I topped up on $360 bucks of powershop, getting the cat spayed for $400, a heap of groceries and what have you. I reckon I'll put through hopefully 3 to 5k$ in about 3 months. I'm just hoping it's all stuff they include?

    • All the usuals - payments to government bodies, ATO, fees etc.

  • After ………………….. 2 or 3 hours of my time being wasted and phone calls, we gave up trying to book a flight with this card, it just didn't work.

Luckily, it's otherwise worked and I should still easily put through 2 or 3k on it in the 3 months but man have I had some trouble with this. Frustrating as I wanted maximum return ($800) for as little effort as possible (about 5 hours total ordering the card and switching all my bills to it for a few months)

    Still going to be profitable.

  • I just noticed "Activate"
    https://www.anzrewards.com/

Do I need to activate before spending my 2 grand on the card? I got the ANZ Black, I sure hope the $1900 I've spent on it in 2 weeks is counted?

    • I have now put 2.5k through in like 3 weeks, how do I track if the points turned up?

      • Check if you have got 2.5k*1.5 points in your Rewards account.

        • Is that here?
          https://www.anzrewards.com/

I don't have a rewards account that I know of? Do I need to sign up and then it 'inspects' my card, or should I have signed up, before spending 2.5k$? :(

          • +1

@hamwhisperer: Yes, just sign up there. No matter if you sign up before or after spending. You will get the points the moment you started using your card. Once you sign up and login, you will see your accrued points.

            • @timhn: Thanks for your help, appreciate it.

            • @timhn: Well I've spent $2500 on the card in probably just under a month, I have 5000 points, I think I'm supposed to get 180,000 aren't I?

              • @hamwhisperer: You should. Just wait for your statement.

                • @timhn: It's all good it cleared up now actually!

Hey any reason why you'd pick physical over digital or vice versa? Can you think of any advantage /disadvantage?

Looks like I can get about $830 worth
