Anyone with experience with any of these robotic lawn mowers. Was reading up about Moebot and had good reviews but keen to hear personal reviews here.

    • +3

      Can confirm this worx

    • +1

I actually just installed a Moebot S5 last week after similar problems. Happy to answer any questions, here or DM. In short, happy I have it, seems ok, but isn't perfect (mainly the app has some parts in Mandarin once you leave the main screens, but it was only when I was trying to do Alexa integration I found that).

Can I ask what type of grass do you have? Does it struggle with anything? Do you have slopes and can it do slopes? Does it cover your lawn or miss parts?

        • +1

Sir Walter. Grass is new as of ~7 weeks ago, mower is new as of 2-3 weeks ago.

Doesn't struggle at all, but you have it go regularly so it's only trimming a mm or two. I don't have any real slopes no, but it has a very slight incline as it docks and it does that, but you'd have to check the specs for max incline support. It bounces around and looking at the lawn, it's all even (mower runs 3 times a week).

Nature of the beast is you still have some minor edging to do. I have paved edge around the lawn for 75% of it, and if I'd laid the wire well, I wouldn't have to edge that at all, but then I'd still have some parts around the dock, but if you had the dock on the edge of the grass, you might be able to get away with it.

It says that it needs 2m in front of dock, and .3m behind. I actually got mine working in a separate corner of the lawn that works quite well, but it was trial and error of the wire placement to get it there.

Would buy again, but I do look forward to a smarter GPS one eventually. Main concern I have with smaller brand name is long term support, but they use a third party app that lots of other devices use as well, so that shouldn't (hopefully) be a problem).

    • Yes, I can confirm it works well.

Does this cut randomly or does it cut smrtly?

    • +1

Randomly, not that it really matters. It hits the barrier wire and turns to a random direction. I've had mine since the last sale a few months ago and my lawn has never been smoother. Setup is a bitch though

      • +1

Are you saying it just randomly putters around the yard in no specific efficient route and instead just knows which spots haven't been cut to go back over?

        • I would like to know this as well.

        • +1

It random bounces off objects and barrier wire. Follows wire to charge station anti-clockwise.
Idea is it covers whole law over a couple days anyway, so its always cut. Not meant to be once a week for 2 hrs job.

I let everybody in my street use my lawnmower.

As long as it stays in my yard.

  • +1

    Does this have RGB?

  • Does it have GPS theft protection?

    • +1

GPS no. Locks if disconnected from home wifi though. Still lost your mower BUT nobody else can use it….

  • Can I play fetch with it?

    • +4

Maybe, but might need a new ball each time

    • +3

Warranty void if unit is thrown, lobbed or chucked

Plus, might scare the hell out of your dog

      • +1

My dog Spot is from Boston Robotics

  • +1

Segway is bringing out a boundary wire free one that had gps end of next year.

  • Could this be the Roborock of mowers?

    This YouTube review seems helpful

  • Terrifying.

  • Hey Op. I have a grass area of just over 1000. Can I buy two and leave them to sort themselves out? They won't kill each other right??

    • Round 1, FIGHT

    • Same size as my lawn. Check the post. There are other models available for bigger lawns.

  • While the mower has a 3 year warranty, any info how long their 20V battery lasts? - ie, how many hours of use or # of recharges before it degrades to 50% performance?
Is there a generic brand available here?

Also, doesn't look to come with any wiring. Do I need to purchase this additionally?

    • Its just like any other Lithium-Ion battery, Ozito, Ryobi etc. They last for a while, 3-5 years minimum.

Iirc I have read somewhere it comes with all the required accessories. Will try to find it later.

Update: Updated the post with the accessories included.
