Meals for Mutts 20kg Bags $76.51 (Auto Delivery) + Delivery ($0 to Most Areas) @ Budget Pet Products

1090
MFMPK15

I got an email over the weekend saying Meals for Mutts was 20% off at Budget Pet Products. The product page says 15% off with the code MFMPK15, which seems to stack when used on an auto delivery order, bringing it down to just $76.51 delivered. It's the cheapest I've ever seen it!

Don't forget to add the black hawk treat sample for $1, with a coupon for $-1 added to cart.
    Great deal and good find.

  • +4

good quality food for the price! would recommend this over most of the usuals

  • +10

Thanks. Got some for the MIL…

  • Good food and good price

  • +1

Great price. Just beware they use Fastway for free shipping and they're even more atrocious at delivery times at the moment since the lockdown.

    • +1

Have used this company for over a year with fast way and post is almost next day/ 2 days. So not sure where you live but super quick for me

      • +1

I see you're in Queensland so must be quick for you. Sydney is very bad for Fastway atm. Took 2 weeks when I last ordered kibble.

        • Agreed fastway are awful, have only ever had problems with them

          • @heyrosered: Yep. Qld and no dramas. Obviously other states may have issues. I have noticed even purchasing from Vic or nsw to Qld my postage speed is atrocious

  • +2

    Damn…no free shipping to WA…

    • yep. $25 for me minimum.. No deal for us then :(

    • -2

Free shipping to a residential address and when you choose fast way.

If you pick Auspost or a parcel Locker, you'll be hit with fees.

      • Not for me in WA (perth metro). Cheapest option is $24.15 Aramex Fastway

    • I think we can buy more than 1 bag and pay for same shipping right? Maybe we can buy them all together haha

  • Thanks, bought one.

Didn't use autodelivery as I still don't know how quickly my doggo will take to get through this. Still. Great price imo at 105.

Yes, I probably need to hand in my ozb card..

    • +2

Why didn't you just tick auto delivery and then just cancel it after your first order ships? I do it all the time…

      • Oh I didn't realise you can do that? Jokes on me :(

  • +4

Bought a bag for my sister thanks

    • +5

Not sure if this is an innocent post or a dig at the sister lol

  • Just bought a bag, will see if it is any good for my dog who has developed some conditions.
    Thanks OP.

    • Skin conditions? You could also try a raw diet of just mince, offal and brisket bones.

    • We've been giving the Kangaroo and Lamb MfM to my 14yo Goldie who developed an allergy to the protein found in chicken. He's had no dramas on it whatsoever :)

  • -1

When the wife wants you to cook dinner for a change..

  • Hmm, says my payment failed but it went through. Hopefully order dispatched soon. My cat loves the salmon and sardines.

  • Code doesn't stack anymore, aww shucks

  • Awesome deal OP. Thanks!

  • Immediately made an order once I saw the price. Great find OP. Seemed to work for me. I do hold some concerns for Fastway though, never really hear any good things about them. But I'm prepared to take the risk at this price lol. Cheers OP

  • just ordered
    thanks OP

I'm new to being a puppy parent, so apologies for the ignorance, but I was a bit shocked to see garlic as an ingredient in this kibble.

I thought dogs were supposed to avoid onion and garlic like the plague?

    • Where are you looking up the ingredients?

I can't seem to find any garlic? ( Maybe a boy look) 😉

      • +2

It's in the ingredient list section:

Salmon & Sardine, ground brown rice, seasonal vegetables, peas, alfalfa, natural fats and oils, omega 3, 6 & 9, yeast, garlic, kelp.

Even if it's not toxic in small amounts, I wonder why they add it at all considering the risk…

Edit: Their FAQs mentions garlic in the "food concerns" section but I'm really confused by their answer, it doesn't actually answer anything :S

        • This is where I am reading my ingredients from https://www.mealsformutts.com.au/product/dog-salmon-sardine-…

I can't see any mention of garlic

          So I ask again

Where are you looking up the ingredients?

          • @docians: Budget pet products website. Interesting it doesn't mention garlic on the official website.

            • @dpark88: The ingredient list on petcircle is identical to that on the MFM website.

I'm wondering if the BPP website is using an old listing like they didn't have the budget to upgrade the ingredient list (sorry couldn't help myself)

Given there's no garlic on the official website, I doubt BPP is carrying a special formulation

      • Where are you looking up the ingredients?

        Ingredients
Salmon & Sardine, ground brown rice, seasonal vegetables, peas, alfalfa, natural fats and oils, omega 3, 6 & 9, yeast, garlic, kelp. Also contains Yucca Shidigera extract and natural flavours, and is preserved using natural vitamin E and rosemary extract

Source hidden under the cryptically-named "Indredient List" tab. 🙄

        • Source(budgetpetproducts.com.au) hidden under the cryptically-named "Indredient List" tab. 🙄

a similar list of ingredients on the meals for mutts website's not so cryptically named Ingredients list
Salmon and Sardine, seasonal vegetables, ground brown rice, alfalfa, natural fats and oils, omega 3, 6 & 9, coconut oil, turmeric, parsley, pre & probiotic, kelp, vitamins A, C, D3, E, K, B1, B2, B6, B12, niacin, pantothenic acid, folacin, biotin and natural organic acids, plus minerals, calcium, phosphorus, sodium, copper, zinc,

          no garlic
the manufacturer does not list garlic as an ingredient- which is where I was looking up ingredients.
I doubt the manufacturer will add garlic and then chose not to mention this in their ingredient list

As I mentioned before BPP website must have a typo/ could be using an old ingredient list

thought I'd ask BPP via chat but couldn't be bothered with their 30 minute wait time

          • @docians: You were right; the BPP website hadn't updated its product page which had the old formula listed. The delivered product has no garlic in the ingredients.

            • @pe arl: Cheers mate,
Did you get your delivery already?
              Still waiting on mine
Even the one I've ordered from petbarn on the 18th of October hasn't arrived

    • I've used this brand before and never had any issues.

    • It is toxic in really large quantities like if a dog ate fresh garlic in garden.
      This explains it well enough.

    • +5

Apparently the study that was performed wasn’t great. They tested 4 dogs.

“ Each of these dogs given 1.25 ml of garlic extract per kg of body weight for seven straight days. As an example, if the dog weighed 40 pounds, it would be given about 20 cloves of garlic. That’s a staggering amount of garlic that no dog or human would ever actually consume in that time frame!”

Since then, this study went viral and everyone now believes garlic is bad, but in reality garlic is fine for dogs.

I think speak to your vet if you have concerns

  • +1

    Stacked and cracked, cheers OP!

I've been using them for awhile now. Stumbled on them by a page three google search.

I find for most stuff, they're a good 5-10% cheaper, at a minimum, than anyone else! They have my money and full support.

One spend was almost $250 that they thought it was a scam and rang me to verify. That's how budget they are, haha!

    • +1

Yup, stumbled on them a few years ago through a not-straight forward search.

The main and best reason for me to use them is that their free delivery applies to regional Australia. They delivery pretty quickly as well. Prices are cheaper compared to most stores but for their product range and delivery, its just a bonus for me.

I only needed to ring them a couple of times for issues I was aware of (wrong dog boot size but I knew my dog was weirdly proportioned so it was an educated risk) but it seems like their call centre is a bit hit an miss when it comes to customer service. Its outsourced though so I don't blame them and I still continue to use them.

  • Code doesn't seem to work anymore

    • It does, just used it

    • Oops forgot to select auto-delivery. Thanks for sharing OP!

  • +1

Works on a couple of Meals for Meows 9kg bags too. Brings mackerel & salmon down to $48~ and kangaroo & turkey to $44~ for 9kg.

  • If purchased with auto delivery, will I continue paying $76 or will it go back to normal price once this code expires?

    • +1

normal I'd say - best to cancel auto delivery at some point

      • Thanks mate

  • Good food and good shop. I have two bags of mfm from this website sitting in my garage already and I rotate my dog's food quite often and its time for his dental kibble next so will not be able to take advantage of this.

  • 20kg Black Hawk delivered $75! Thanks OP

    • +1

      Hmm, I get

      Oops, this code is invaild

when trying to apply the coupon for on the black hawk dog food. Do you have a new account?

Edit: just realised you probably used auto delivery and didn't use the code to get it for $75.98.

      • Just did the same and realised the same. Can't apply this code to Royal Canine (rc).

      • Nope. Was $94.98 with auto delivery. Applied code.

        https://ibb.co/Hz3p3hj

        • Ok, I got it for $75.98 without the code. Thanks for replying

  • +1

Thanks OP. I usually buy MFM large kibble salmon sadrine on pet circle for over $100 every couple months for my great dane. Picked this up, great price!

  • Yeah $25 shipping to WA is a bit of a deal killer but still cheaper than any available. If anyone still wants a bag shipped and is in WA, we can split postage, please PM me. Hopefully we can get like 4 or 5 people lol it would be funny to see how they send this 100kg package

    • -1

they send seperate boxes for each bag, currently get my 24kg in two 12kg which is much more manageable.

    • filling their kibble with corn and cheap fillers

anyone who feeds this to their dog is straight up animal abuse

      Interesting
This particular food does not have corn
Which cheap fillers did you find here?

      • -4

the fact that they put garlic in that food just shows how silly people are. esp downvoting me

garlic is toxic to dogs "natural organic acids" what acids?
Ash (Typical): 5% .. ash? really

Please do some more research on dog food, how its made and how its designed to fool ( you the buyer) to think you're feeding your dog quality food

Any kibble is made at high temps pretty much killing any nutrients. Why do you think they add in these vitamins after the fact?

Go ahead downvote me, the truth hurts.

        • Shows you haven't done your research. There is no garlic in the ingredient list.

          • -2

@aligind4h0us3: Clearly you cant read can you

Salmon & Sardine, ground brown rice, seasonal vegetables, peas, alfalfa, natural fats and oils, omega 3, 6 & 9, yeast, garlic, kelp. Also contains Yucca Shidigera extract and natural flavours, and is preserved using natural vitamin E and rosemary extract

            yeast, garlic, kelp

            garlic ———-<<<< :)

Research hey? Please come back to me when you learn how kibble is made.

    • You’re a fool. Arguably highest quality Aussie dry food on the market.

      • -2

there isnt a kibble in the world that is "high quality"

Many of the nutrients in kibble are lost during the high-heat process, so flavor enhancers and synthetic nutrients are added to replace what has been lost.

Different types of acrylamide and other carcinogens are created in this process. It also dehydrates your dog like crazy

I am not a fool, you're the fool falling for bs marketing hype. Kibble is made for shelf life and to line the pockets of the manufacturer. Not for your dog's health

        • You’re right! All dogs are suffering at the hands of humans and pet food companies. How dare we all not feed our dogs and cats what you deem appropriate.

          • -1

@Pratty: All modern dogs are descendants of wolves, wolves eat raw meat. A raw diet is the best for dogs. You can argue all you want but that's the truth

its not what i deem appropriate. I was simply stating kibble from any company is garbage. High heat process is needed to make it last for ages.

You completely missed the point. No point educating the clueless.

  • +1

Thanks! Got the deal, shopped via cashrewards and got cashback too!

    • Although it's tracked, they may decline it later because of the code.

  • Thank you so much - our pugs will be so happy! :) :)

  • Thanks OP got Black Hawk 20kg ~$75

  • Could only get it down to $100.17 for the MFM 20kg Large size Salmon and Sardine ($117.70 on auto deliver then the 15% off to $100.05). Did they bump price up or I stuff it up? Still pretty good @ $100, I've had success googling whoever has the cheapest at the time and getting it price matched at Pet Circle so that I can pick it up on the spot. Last time I paid was $104 but >$100 for this stuff is insane

  • Anyone have experience with this brand and Canidae? I have tried some australian brands but not impressed with them that much and from what i read, apparently Pet food industry isnt regulated yet in australia while in the US it is and hence (unlike most food products) US actually has better qualty / more stringent rules on dog food compared to Australia.

Anyone know if this has changed recently?

    • +1

My dog originally was brought up on purina supercoat but had the smelliest, yuckiest shits. Moved to blackhawk puppy lamb/rice and chicken/rice and that was great for a long time. But the dog got to 44kg and was eating close to 550-650g of kibble a day across two feeds per day. He was super hyperactive after the food as well and it was burning a hole in our bank account because of how much he was eating. It was great food, but every now and then the dog would get a runny poo and the last 2-3 bags of blackhawke that i had were not all that great. It seemed the poop smelled a bit more like purina every now and then.

We switched to MfM due to some specials at Pet Circle and were using their large puppy or whatever it was. The kibble is much bigger, much drier and it seems more dense. We normally buy the salmon one and our dog is fine with it. he really enjoys his breakfast and dinnertimes. We have taken to soaking the kibble with water and then agitating it after a few minutes. The kibble expands to almost double its size after a good 15minutes, but we usually serve him the food after about 5-10m just so he gets a good crunch going with the food. I'm pretty keen on the food, there's now basically no diarhoea or runny poos whatsoever. There is also no bad digested carb smells like what I had with Purina and increasingly, Blackhawk.

The dog has settled down a bit now he's 2.8 years of age and he's now at 40kg. The food portions have reduced to about 450-500g per day.

  • Has anyone else's dog started doing multiple small vomits since feeding MfM?

    • Nope. Maybe it doesn't agree with your dog?
