    • Hopefully my SN is valid, do they email you the SN or do you need to wait for the m2 drive to arrive to get the SN?

      • you need to get it from the label of the physical drive - the box only has the first 14 of the 15 characters

      • The serial number is on the sticker on the SSD itself so you'll have to wait for the delivery of your item.

  • Only just received mine today (ordered 2/11) and like some of you, the serial number is not being accepted on the Samsung website so hopefully, emailing their promo team gets it sorted quickly and easily

    • When does the farcry promo end? placed my order and from the comments it looks like it can take up to 5 days to arrive.

  • Are you guys emailing [email protected] or [email protected] about the issue with serial number?

    • I emailed the first, got reply from the second

      Dear customer

Sorry to hear you are having an issue with your serial number.
Please send over an image of your 15 digit serial number either displayed on the physical device or from the Samsung Magic Magician Software.
Once we receive this we can look into the issue.

      Kind regards,
Samsung RMS (Redemption Management System) Support
      Samsung Electronics Australia www.samsung.com.au

      • just got a reply - took 5 working days to get to this point of being able to lodge a claim

        Thank you for your patience.
Your serial number issue has been resolved.
You can now submit your claim.

        • Same except it still doesn't work

          • @FireRunner: Just keep emailing them. Same thing happened to me for the cashback. They said they "fixed" it but it didn't work and they eventually sorted it out after I whinged some more :)

            • @Jhonka: Yeah, replied telling them it still didn't work and they said they sent it back to the IT team.
Probably be a few days again to hear a response. Hopefully it works the second time through

        • i've just got my key - 7 working days since valid submission

  • Same with the issues on the samsung site, just wont process the correct serial number on the 2TB NVMe drive.

Can anybody suggest, when sending info to samsung at the address [email protected] what actually are you sending them when you send details besides the serial number is not being accepted.

Are you sending the receipt, date, picture of the box and serial with the open drive with serial number as well?

Any info on successful submissions would be helpful. :)

    • Screenshot of the webpage error and photo of your SSD.

      • Just sent them an email moments ago.

I included Screenshot of the error entry page, the drive, the box and my BPC receipt.

Hope they get it sorted and thanks again šŸ‘

Finally after taking s photo of the 2Tb 970 evo and submitting the claim, yeah it finally accepted the s/n this time and got this reply .

This is totally slack off Samsung and to be honest i feel that there done this before, makes you think that quite a few people will miss out.

    Totally unacceptable.

    Dear blah blah

Your redemption request has been submitted successfully.

    Your Redemption ID is AUE202111********""

Once your claim has been approved, please allow for the voucher code to be delivered via email within the time frame defined in the Terms and Conditions.

You can login to Samsung Redemption to review the details of your redemption request.

    • agreed i have to wait a week for the item to arrive then email and wait another week for a reply and game key! A known issue on their side that makes people give up or miss out on redemption saving them dollars.

  • Can anybody tell me, what Temps do you get when using these drives either in your laptops or desktops.

I have a 500gb EVO plus NVMe and now this 2TB one and Samsung Magician always shows both these drives at 45c for the 500gb evo plus and 47c for this 2TB.

Would you consider these Temps as normal or with either a laptop or desktop that is not transferring data to it?

When using MS Flight Simulator the Temps are still the same even as the app is reading data from this new 2TB games drive.

Not sure if this post is suited to this thread but just thought I would ask others who have this what temps they get, expect or experience..

    • my 1TB sits at around 40-45c without any heatsinks (i.e. bare drive in slot below a GPU in a desktop PC)

when I'm using, gets into low 50s

      • Thanks for sounding off, so I guess these temps are likely normal or normal'ish.

I have another 500GB EVO (not plus) that goes up to 82c at times when transferring data or if its being worked so can be very worry some at those temps as that is imo extremely hot. for a SSD NVMe drive.

        • It's not hot at all if the drive is rated to run at 100c - you need to check the manufacturers figures to find out the safe level šŸ‘

          • @Nom: Hi Nom, I dont know about that mate, I cant event touch the drive for long and I would say 82c is approaching put a heat sink on it territory as that is near 180 F degrees.

The Samsung site (for the Evo not plus) also states: OPERATING TEMPERATURE 0 - 70 ā„ƒ

            https://www.samsung.com/semiconductor/minisite/ssd/product/cā€¦

Btw, this 80c happens when doing a file transfer and its not like we transfer all day long to such a drive.

              @zztrader:

              Bingo.
So yes, you are running the drive hotter than "supported".

I cant event touch the drive for long and I would say 82c is approaching put a heat sink on it territory as that is near 180 F degrees.

That only matters because the official rating of 70c is below that number. Modern CPUs and Videocards will quite happily sit at 90c+ because they're rated to ~100c. Yes that's hot enough to burn you, but it's not a problem for the chips.

                @Nom: Good points there Nom.

You know, I got in touch with Samsung support and told them about it, they asked if I had my receipt which I have not or I simply cannot find it. I told them that the drive was only purchased a while ago back in 2018 so I gave them my serial number and Samsung support tells me its out of warranty anyway.

I tell them, how can it be out of warranty when this particular drive came online for sale during 2018 but they just blow me off and treat me like an idiot. I am likely still going to go to consumers affairs and report them regardless as its shameful that they make complete BS excuses.

@zztrader: temp sensor is likely on the controller and most decent controllers have thermal management to throttle performance until temp drops

in a desktop, expectation that their is either decent airflow, or if that isn't possible, a heatsink to soak and dissipate the heat between bursts of data transfer

laptops are different - higher performance NVME drives typically need a thermal pad to the chassis to draw heat away, otherwise, a low power (and probably lower performance) option makes sense

                  • @HeXa: Good info there HeXa, šŸ‘

I only have a mid range Metabox with a GTX1660Ti and the data transfer on the EVO was done with a NVMe caddy so a heatsink certainly would be the answer to keeping it cooler on certain tasks yet just thinking of selling it off and advise any buyers to throw a heatsink onto should they use a laptop or not have appropriate cooling.

                    Cheers :)

                    • @zztrader: not sure whether you have a metal shield on the bottom of whatever model metabox/clevo you have - if there is one, then a thermal pad helps a lot

  • Stumbled on this toda, $285 with Farcry free? My X470 Prime only supports up to v3x4 so this'll be the best I can get until I replace the CPU and mobo..

    • Would love to see a 4TB (not QVO) version of that available for that price :)

  • Hi Rep, now that you have dropped the price of the Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB I will buy it from you.
Any chance you can do a better price on the ASUS ROG Strix Arion USB3.2 Gen2 M.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure? - SKU
    ROG-STRIX-ARION

    Amazon was $55, Wireless 1 was $59.
