700

The Humble Store has the Age of Empires IV Deluxe Edition priced lower than the basic edition. Possibly a regional pricing and/or currency conversion error.

Also as cheap as $69.81 for Humble Choice Classic or Premium subscribers (and possibly worth signing up for a month just for this discount).

Redeems as a key on Steam.

The Digital Deluxe Edition includes everything from Age of Empires IV, plus digital bonus content which includes the official Age of Empires IV soundtrack, Unit Counters Chart, art compilation from digital painter Craig Mullins, and exclusive in-game content including a Coat of Arms, Player Profile portrait, and Monument.

      😱well it’s Microsoft’s own I guess…

I doubt I would have checked! Thanks

    • Dumb question but is that game pass an xbox only thing?

Or can I buy it to play this on pc (I don't have an xbox)

      • +3

On PC with Ultimate Game Pass, along with many other games.

        • normal game pass too

      • +8

IMHO, Game pass is one of the best value subscriptions in gaming that I've ever come across. And I don't even own an Xbox. I have it purely for the PC gaming and the value it give me is insane.

      • doesn't have as many games as xbox unfortunately.

        • Still has just over 200 games by my count.

Get your first month for $1, then Regularly$10.95/month*

    • +6

A lot of people are mentioning the Ultimate Game Pass ($15.95), which you don't need to play this game, You only need the basic Game Pass for $10.95 to play it on PC (make sure you subscribe to the PC Game Pass not console), Forza Horizon 5 is also coming out on Game Pass next month. If this is your first time signing up to Xbox game pass it will only cost $1 for the first month, just remember to disable the auto renewal afterwards if you don't want to get charged $10+.

      • Xbox game pass is more than enough :D Mine was expired mid Sep, but there is a deal now for $1 - 1 month for expired ones, I can't find the OzB deal now.

    • +1

its free on regular game pass too, a pretty important distinction

Heh, didn't realise there was a new AOE.

Anyone know how to get Age of Mythology 1/2/E, and get it working on Android?

  • Anyone tried it so far, any thoughts in comparison to 3 (Definitive)?

    • +5

I'd describe it as a modern approach at age of empires 2 from my experience in the stress test. Aoe3 is my favourite RTS, however I think it's a bit different due to the lack of a home city system, the more old fashioned resource collecting and the slightly different combat. However there are similarities like the aging up as seen in the Asian dynasties expansion. I personally found aoe4 great fun as I didn't enjoy aoe2 too much, probably because it was so hardcore and intense, so in terms of difficulty I'd say aoe4 is between aoe2 and 3.

      • Yeah Aoe3 is so well done for gameplay!

        • But the AI sucks

          • @s1Lence: yeah it sure has some strange quirks

    • +1

Just my 2c but after playing an hour on gamepass im not impressed at all. As others have mentioned its closer to AOE2 than AOE3 but its certainly no better than any of the knock-offs over the years. In a world in which Anno exists, AOE4 is extremely clunky and the animations are ugly. No desire to play it again #sad :(

      • +5

Good to hear AOE2 was way better than AOE3.

      • Anno 1800 graphics are amazing, but that game doesn't have hundreds of moving units on the screen at any time.

  • Any current hacks or ozbargain way to get back on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate?

  • +1

I am still playing Age of Empires II: The Conquerors
There are still active players in Voobly
    https://www.voobly.com/

Cant imagine AOE 2 is now 20 years old LOL

    • +5

It is the most famous game in the AOE series. Definitive edition is still played like everywhere. It is on sale. 50% off now.

    • +6

Aoe2 definitive has a huge community too.

      • I still play online from time to time. Still have people waiting at the lobby.

    • +2

Very much still alive, Red Bull just had a $100,000 tournament in some castle in Germany for the top players

    • I still have my original AOE2 box bought in 1999.

  • Just did a google search and found AZ Game shop from eneba is even cheaper $78.14
    https://www.eneba.com/steam-age-of-empires-iv-digital-deluxe…

Not sure whether this is legit tho

Also, Black Friday / Cyber Monday is coming in a month time
not sure if there will be good discounts on games
Humble Bundle used to have pretty good offer on Black Friday

  • Is this free on Xbox Game Pass?

    • +2

TBH, I like playing old games which are "shit graphics" :)
always feeling the recent games are "too real", especially those 3D ones

      Zomas.

  • How do you turn this on

    • Both seem to be accounts for steam that have the game, not a game key itself that someone can add to their own account.

  • Prostagma?

    • Got it mixed with AoM

    • wrong game lul

  • +1

If you already have a Humble Bundle subscription, you can save 15 dollars off the price.
Did this the other day, came to just shy of 70 bucks.

    Very happy! :D

  • bad gpu utilization (low FPS when graphics set to high yet no GPU usage) and HOMING ARROWS PLEASE NOOOOOOOOO

    • I set everything to max and getting 60 fps (60 fps monitor
      ) at 1080P with GPU load 70 to 90 %, GTX 1060 3 GB

      Do you have enough RAM?

  • +1

Have this ready to go, but also want to go back to Guardians. Don't know what to do.

Will probably fold under the pressure and go back to watching old episodes of South Park.

  • +1

Bought with the knowledge I probably won’t play it much - but wanting to support RTS so they hopefully make age of mythology definitive or a sequel 😂

  • Those who have this and the AOE 2 Definitive Edition, first impressions? Better or not as good?

    • +1

I haven't played AoE 2 DE much but have played the original version. I was confused with the GUI, same coloured buttons for unit creation etc, no proper score display, less number of units and civilisations.

  • FYI, this deal still works https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/654519
$140 for 3 years of Game Pass Ultimate including EA play, I just purchased it.

  • -2

    999

  • Not a bad game but can't help but feel like they could add more or get a little more crazier experimenting with other rts games unique mechanics but it's OK this was to be expected the world is just a bunch of expectations some meet them some don't.

The technical stress test was fun don't get me wrong on that I just really have huge nostalgia for the old games but going back to them is very hard graphically and experience wise now.

I wonder why no one ever really tried to be the AMD to age of empires (Intel) there were some but where are they now.

  • Does anyone know if i join for first month then get game then cancel membership. Does game still work after cancel membership?

    https://www.xbox.com/en-AU/xbox-game-pass/pc-games

    • +2

So you're wondering if you can have access to 100+ games when you cancel your $10/month game pass membership?

Sometimes answers are really really obvious when you think about it. And if you're not getting the vibes here, NO. You lose access to the games until you renew.

      • Shouldn't work like that. Should have access until the date the membership expires.

  • Fixed 😔

Is the digital deluxe version ever really worth it? Couldnt give a rats ass about the sound track, dunno what a unit counter is (displays the amount of specific units you have of each type?), some art and a handful of digital items for at least $20 more than the standard version (based on some keys Ive seen around)

    • +1

I used this deal a few days ago (was too scared to admit I was preordering or I would have posted the deal). I am happy I got the deluxe edition for this price but I am actually very disappointed with what the deluxe edition offers and how much they charged for it.

The unit counter is basically a paper scissors rock chart of which units counter which (Eg. Cav weak to spears) and I'm sure will be all over the internet within a week. The art is nice, but not really a selling point for me, and the soundtrack… once again will be everywhere…

The points that excited me were that you can get a custom coat of arms, a custom 'profile icon' and the monument. I thought the monument would be like the AOE2 monuments where perhaps we got some grand building we could build.

Nope, it just replaces the bell on the town centre with a wolf statue, one of MANY unlockable replacements.

It's the same issue with the coat of arms - it gives you one wolf icon and a small pattern you can put on the coat of arms, but that's it. In a sea of customisations, you get one 'icon' for the coat of arms, and one circle that goes behind it and is slightly shaped like mountains. If you are an AOE insider member on the website, you can get (for free) a different icon and circle.

Very very disappointed with the offerings in the deluxe edition. Happy I got them with this cheap price (and humble choice member so it was even cheaper), but I would have been fuming if I had paid $120 for it.

TLDR: Not worth it unless cheaper than the base price. The customizations are the equivalent of being offered a slightly different shade of white paint that "no one else can get". The unit counter will likely be on the internet within a weak and that is probably the only thing of partial use.

      • Yep sounds like my suspicions are confirmed. Will wait for a cheap standard version key

  • +2

I paid $65.15 for the standard verison via Instant Gaming

    • +1

Thanks for this, just refunded my steam purchase I bought last night.

    • thanks, I just did the same $63.50 at the moment

      • +1

What's it like? Wasn't one of the recommended list for Australians so wondered if it was legit?

        • +1

worked fine for me mate, activate no issues got code straight away. seems very much like AoE2 with better animations so far, plays similar

      • Yep! Sorry my price was PayPal as my coles Mastercard was declined
