    Nice…Berghain is on my bucketlist

    • Good luck been there twice, both time got rejected apparently I dont have the Berliner vibe….

      • Tresor maybe?

      • Security confiscated my my hip flask but they let me in and I was able to collect it on the way out.

When I took a piss in the mens, a guy put his hand in my flow and told me it was warm. Interesting place!

  • So how much when you add in the compulsory tests, and luggage allowance needed for a trip to Europe via Singapore?

  • would love to fly into the new BER airport.. after all its problems during construction

i think i'll just fly in from FRA though

    • 29 years from planning to opening haha, what a joke

      • The podcast about it was so awesome!

  • +1

Checked baggage and meals cost extra

  • not sure why the negativity with scoot? they fly really new planes. unlike the scrap metal that qantas calls plane

    • +2

how is a 737-800 scrap metal?

      • These are not comparable aeroplanes .

"Plane Nerd here to save the day" !

Most comparable to scoot is Quntas' very own 787"s which will have fewer seats on board and more room.

Then if you really want to fly get on a 380 for the best economy ride to Deutschland
Possibly a Qatar / Etihad 380 if theyve woken them up yet

    • Probably because the service and experience you get onboard is more significant than how shiny things are outside which you can't see?

Would love to go to Germany, too bad I'm unvaxxed.

Would love to go anywhere, too bad I'm unvaxxed.

      Fixed that for you

    • +2

      Then get that jab bruh!

    • +2

If only there were some simple way you could make that possible… Oh well looks like you're s.o.l.

I would prefer to book with Emirates, they automatically include multi-risk travel insurance with Covid medical and cancellation/curtailment benefits.

  • +1

Also need to factor in the cost for the international covid tests that aren't covered by Medicare. For international travel to leave they are $150-300 (not Medicare rebate eligible) depending on how early you need them. Plus the test cost for the place when you land, and before you leave.

    • "only" $100 with histopath…

      .

  • yeah, had a flight to India via Singapore cancel while waiting to board. The Scoot airport staff were Customer service contractors and kept saying I wouldn't get a refund my ongoing flight. This was contrary to what the phone staff said. From the research I did, the rumour was that Scoot oversells flights that it can't provide. So a certain portion will be people that pay then turn up for no reason. Managed to get a refund but this was received about three months later.

  • As others have alluded to the issue is if you want to leave the airport you'll need extra (negative) Covid tests to enter Singapore and then possibly another one to fly out which means extra $$$ (around 300) and extra stuffing about.

Then theres also the risk of catching Covid (more daily cases in compact Singapore than the whole of Australia) and not being allowed back onto a plane and being stuck in Singapore until you test negative…..Kinda kills the idea of a short stopover for any travel in the immediate future.

Also catch Covid in Europe before flying home = you'll get stuck there/Hotel Quarantine - I really want to travel but for any shortish trips it doesn't seem worth the risk currently.

  • Check travel times. Used Scoot a few times, a bit hit and miss. Some planes are old parent company Singapore air with budget refurbished chairs, thin padding, ok if you are a small person.

  • von Grabthars Hammer … Was für eine Ersparnis

  • Also if DFAT has an official “Do Not Travel” advice, most travel insurance policies would be pretty much useless.

I would not book until official travel advice is changed.

    • Hopefully by March travel is a bit easier

      • 'Hopefully' doth butter no parsnips.

  • can non-GMOs travel? 🤣

  • Das ist nicht sheisse 😁

The clubbing in East Berlin is/was awesome! Aah the memories.

Never did make it to the love parade though :(

  • It's possible Germany will do another sort of lockdown between now and then.

  • I have Flown GC to Berlin on economy and "Biz classless". The 787 Economy seat would be a killer with only a 1.5hr layover as lacks padding. Meals are expensive for what they are. The Biz class seats are better but not like current Full airline Biz class more of 20 year ago Biz class wider and only more recline. I eat before the flights each time at airport and snuck snacks and duty free booze on to be honest. When you add luggage it kills the trip as adds $120 each way so now your at $920 rt. Add seats selection another $75 and if want food and drinks $100. Total $1095 plus layover cost. True OZ bargainer only way to fly this route is carryon and ask at airport for isle seat, and have 4kilo of snacks in your carry on as allowed 10kg.ps wear a Large jacket with pockets too put another 4 -5 kilo onboard hahaha

Anyone knows what “STOPOVER COVERED BY SCOOT” in Singapore for 22 hours mean?🤷‍♂️
Also $400 for a standard 30 kg luggage kinda kills the vibe😏

    • LoL 400 for a bag, just buy your clothes there … wait its winter there soon …

      • +1

Put everything on yourself. Buy cargo pants and a vest for that trip.

  • Holy Hell thats a great price to travel a distance of 32,400km - thats 0.02 cents per Km. Or $2 per 100km , so its cheaper than a car by 5x
Unfortunately itll be right on sardines in a yellow / possibly sirina can for nigh on 20 hrs . Guessing a refuel in SG
    Hmmm hard pass
