    • How do you know it was loaded 1pm and not 12.50 or 12.45 etc…;p

  • Looks like around 5 hrs from the purchase . Mine in that range are ready also .

    • 3.5 hours for me. Bought 8am Perth time.

      • <2hrs 40mins for me. Bought 9.45am Perth time

    • They must processed most of them, just bought 4, only took them 30-40 mins to load now.

Anyone use it to buy Amazon gift card from Amazon? Normally within 5 mins, 20 minutes passed still "not sent yet"

Update. It works. Just took longer time

  • -3

finally able to use mine around 2.30pm today which I bought at 8am today. I only got 2 cards this time. I had hidden them in my store on Monday morning after seeing the deal on ozbargain Sunday night. Monday morning the rack was full of $250 cards (Probably 15-20 cards). Tuesday morning (I was there when they opened the store) after the catalogue was released on Monday evening all the $250 cards had Vanished !!.

    • That probably the famous Manger's inside job .

      • Yep !

  • +1

It seems that Shopback does not allow me to use this $250 card to buy SWAP gift card. Tried on 2 different shopback accounts with 2 different $250 coles cards. However it succeed on the first account with some Amazon card purchases…
Cards are activated since I paid my other bill instead.

  • +10

The 5 I bought early this morning have all been activated. Have contacted Coles Financial Services Customer Support and blocked the cards until I am ready to use them. Was told all I need to do is ring them back (obviously only when they are open) and they will unblock the cards so I can use them immediately. This might be good for others to do if they will not be using them soon.

    • How does CFS verify you when you want to unblock the cards?

      • Name and numbers on the cards.

    • +1

Brilliant suggestion. I didn’t know that was an option. I just did as well. They took my name, contact number and card numbers.

    • +2

This is a good suggestion and I didn't think it was possible but… I have to say the hassle factor is getting to be pretty high if you have to do this to avoid being scammed.

It would be good if Coles could provide this service online.

    • How long did this take to do on the phone?

      • I just called the service staff and it took around 1 min/card. Pretty sure he is familiar with this as he may get many similar calls from Ozbargainers to block the cards temporary this afternoon.

  • All gone at my local coles :( I was too slow. revoke my ozbargain membership

    • There’s still six more days of the promotion, so there’s no need to revoke your OzBargain membership… yet.

    • My local coles had dozens, seems nobody is interested. I only grabbed another 4.

      • which store is this? mine had only 50 dollars and a couple of 100. none of the 250 left

    • +1

Try asking at the service counter

who got them to work on woolworths giftcard portal?

    • I tried 15 minutes ago and it failed.

Considering the written response from the gift card team is that an order will be cancelled and a refund issued if you managed to use a prepaid gift card as a payment method, I doubt there would be much of a point continuing to try.

      • -4

Its beyond me why that portal is so popular with a saving overall of around 3% more from everyday prices .
My standards are minimum 7% starting point from the MC advantage .

        • One reason is that people will still gladly eat up a 3% saving (for WISH gift cards) or 4% saving (for Woolworths Store gift cards).

Another reason is that NSW Seniors Cardholders still get a 5% saving for WISH gift cards through the Woolworths Group gift card portal, so some of the people trying to use Coles Gift Mastercards also have access to a 5% discount, not 3% discount.

The portal also allows you to specify an exact value between $5 and $500, so it is an easy way to use every single cent on a Coles Gift Mastercard without having to go into a store and do split payments. I currently have $7.60 remaining on a Coles Gift Mastercard, so getting a $7.92 Woolworths Store eGift Card using that remaining balance would have been handy.

          • +1

@WookieMonster: Key point was my minimum % rate acceptable .
There are thousands of ways to clear the peanut balances .
            That a minor issue .

      • What about if we go to RAC store and purchase wish gc from the store ? Still workable with 3% disc ?

        • I thought automotive clubs stopped selling discounted gift cards in their branches!

To answer your question, that should work, because I doubt RAC would block a prepaid Mastercard on their EFTPOS terminals. Just tell them you want to pay using a card and it should be fine.

          • +1

@WookieMonster: I dunno if they have stopped selling it instore. Been awhile not visiting them. Probably worth doing that when I pass by.

            • @yht: You’re in luck, because RAC apparently still sells WISH gift cards at their Member Benefit Kiosks.

I was originally doubtful because NRMA never sold WISH gift cards in their branches, and RACT stopped selling WISH gift cards in their branches when Woolworths Group ended the 5% discount on WISH gift cards for automotive club members late last year.

    • +1

I bought a Woolworths card via HCF. They use their own payment system rather than redirecting to the Woolworths one, so it works. 4% off, but a 1% payment fee. $48.48 for a $50 card.

Edit: It said Woolworths, but it actually came through as a Wish card, so can be spent at more than just Woolworths :)

      • I was just doing some searching on the HCF Thank You portal and noticed they sell “Caltex Woolworths” eGift Cards at 5% off. My suggestion is to purchase them if you’re looking for the maximum discount on WISH eGift Cards from HCF Thank You, as my guess (and it is a guess) is that they are also just WISH eGift Cards.

Whenever I’ve purchased or redeemed “Caltex Woolworths” eGift Cards from other gift card providers and add them to the Woolworths Money app, they are actually shown in the app as WISH eGift Cards! I’ve even viewed “Caltex Woolworths” eGift Cards on the Woolworths Group gift card portal (complete with the Fuel Gift Card design), and they’re really just WISH eGift Cards.

Now I am pissed off that I could have saved an extra $2.53 on the exact same eGift Cards if I just purchased Caltex Woolworths eGift Cards yesterday instead of Woolworths Supermarket eGift Cards!!! Lol

        • Not worth the risk for me without someone verifying it. I drive an EV.

          • +1

@puffinfresh: I just bought 1x $10 Woolworths Store eGift Card, 1x $50 Caltex Woolworths eGift Card and 1x $200 Caltex Woolworths eGift Card in one transaction (for a total of $249.57).

The eGift Cards arrived in two separate emails:

            • The Woolworths Store eGift Card arrived in an email with the subject Your Woolworths Store Voucher. When I opened the link, the Store Card Portal page had an image for a Woolworths Store eGift Card, but the eGift Card number was for a WISH eGift Card.

            • The Caltex Woolworths eGift Cards arrived in an email with the subject Your Woolworths WISH LSR Voucher. When I opened the link, the Store Card Portal page had an image for a WISH eGift Card, and the eGift Card number was for a WISH eGift Card.

            • @WookieMonster: I've received (bonus) $5 Dan Murphy's gift cards which appear as the blue Wish eGift Cards in the Woolworths Money app. However it didn't actually work at Woolies. Only @ DM.

              • @CVonC: Oh yeah, I forgot Woolworths Group sometimes has those weird bonus gift cards.

                If it reassures you:

                • The first nine numbers of a WISH eGift Card is 628000 555. This was my experience when I previously ordered WISH eGift Cards through Cashrewards back in the day.

                • The first nine numbers of the “Woolworths Store” eGift Card I ordered yesterday was 628000 555.

                • The first nine numbers of the “Woolworths WISH LSR” eGift Cards I ordered yesterday was 628000 555.

I believe the first nine digits of the Dan Murphy’s bonus eGift Card you’re referring to were 628000 832. My assumption is that the Woolworths Money app assigned it as a WISH eGift Card, because 628000 832 is not normally used for any Woolworths Group eGift Cards, and the Woolworths Money app probably defaulted to a WISH eGift Card.

WE HAVE ACTIVATION!! :) (cards were bought 9.30am this morning) they were declined on the ww's gift card portal via RAA discounts but Prezzee AU was quite happy to take my money. $462 of Coles Mastercards turned into $500 worth of gift cards.

Thanks again for the heads up @ironworthy :) have a marvelous evening :)

    • Is that the prezzee smart gift card which can swap to multiple retailers? I never had that before. It looks great covers all my gift card needs. I may going to buy some, so you are ordering in $250 right?

    • +4

What is your point? You are happy to convert $500 flexible money that can be pretty much used anywhere to limited egiftcard that can only be used in WW which is only worth 4% off face value.

Not so smart move, unless it is discount gift card I don't see the point doing it.

      • +3

To keep your money safe, before hackers took it.

      • Your right, I am amazed people are doing that. While there was a saving on the Coles mastercard, people are losing 3-5% discounts buying full priced prezzee cards. Crazy times.

        • +1

in fact the more cards they sold and after the mass scale of fraud it is safer now since more loop holes are stamped out.

    • Does Prezzee discount the gift cards or do you pay face value?

      • face value

    • the previous deals were magical. they were activated instantly. you then use 2 x $250 cards to purchase 5 x $100 cards for a further discount. i don't think they let you do that this time

      • If you really want to do that, why not use ur 2x250 to purchase another 2x250?

        • yes, that would have been the best but the $250 cards were scarce

    • To answer a few questions.
I wanted to use my MC's before the scammers got to them so I used Prezzee to convert to retail vouchers at stores I normally shop at.

I would have liked to have used these MC's to get discounted vouchers but my usual option has been removed and I wanted to move fast before any scammers hacked my cards. I figured I had already saved $37 so why not just use them up :).

Looked into the Prezzee smart card but it just seemed easier to split into vouchers to stores I normally shop at.

Yes I would have liked to have held onto them for a bit and get discounts etc that will undoubtedly pop up in future but I really didn't want to lose what I already had to scammers. Last promotion I bought $1500 worth of cards and was very lucky (as it turns out) not to have them hacked . I didn't want to risk it this time after all the warnings coming through from my wonderful fellow OzBargainers :)

At the end of the day I still saved $37 and I'm pretty happy with that :)

Spent over 15 cards in one hit for my council rates. Overpaying then will request a refund a week later. No processing fee. Didn't have any issues for my cards or activation.

Alternative options ive used is to load up lotterywest app. Its quite handy to clear off small balances. Minimum deposit is $10. I just buy lotto tickets for our group syndicate and can go through it easily.

    • What will be your excuse of overpaying thousand of $s ?

      • +4

        im dumb

        • I can confirm thelott works for everyone to enter the 60 mil this Thursday .
I can mention some of the bad plays to convert :)
This one I recommend and will sell out even if the double stacking wasn't in play : https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/657864

Any expert know if I can use these cards to pay my rego? Due soon.

    • Looks like you can't, just back from post office. Lady says it's gift card, you can not use it to pay.

      • +1

It's up to her interpretation. If she tried, the cards can go through.

Normally, people do not like to see others saving money or abusing the system without benefiting themself.

        • i thought so, but considering it was an old lady, i don't want to waste my time try to persuade her. i can save on somewhere else, no big deal

          • @ce5himm: unless your rego is less than $250, probably not unless you do at registry. Haven't been able to do split payments in the past (NSW at least)

            • @edman: over 750, but i read poeple can pay their rates over post office? the rates is sure over 250. maybe different policy. anyway, paid by bpay. no problem.

              • @ce5himm: Rego in QLD can only be paid at the Post Office with debit card or cash (no credit cards).
Credit card payment only online (full payment no split) or at Transport Dept offices (can split if you ask but many tellers don't know). Surcharge applies to Cc payments.

              • @ce5himm: When doing in person, the can enter the amount you want to pay on the transaction, online generally doesn't allow this. So that is how the post office bit works on rates, I've seen people split transactions at Service NSW so should work

                • @edman: Depend on different staff, different states and different transports they all have different policy. I will stay away from these hassle and use these cards on daily shopping.

                  • @ce5himm: Word of advice, they don’t consider the credit card service charge when they do the payment. So you need to use the amount of 250 less service charge

                    • @spc12go: Thanks, I decided to simply use cards for daily shopping. Too much consideration for using it to pay those fee. Shouldn't take too long to use up the cards I bought.

      • +1

In NSW and VIC, you can't split pay your rego fee at post office, not sure about other states.
It depends on the biller, not Australia Post to decide whether you can split pay
From my experience, AMMI insurance, Rego - you can't
Water, electricity, passport fee - you can

For VIC, you may go to a VIC Roads centre and split pay your rego by credit card but there is a ~1% fee

        • +2

You can pay at ServiceNSW here in NSW. Just tell them split payment and you need to work out the amount including service charge in the payment.

        • You can split in VIC with a "customised" barcode, but it will require a call to VicRoads to link all your payments together. Just read the receipt numbers to them and takes about 5 mins.

  • +1

Can we use rewards Coles GC via rewards to buy these MasterCards?

    • If you’re doing split payments (e.g a few $100/200 gift cards), it depends on your local Coles store whether they allow this.

      • thanks

    • You certainly can but it is such a hassle to pull it off successfully, rather just use Plat Edge for the 3 pts/$.

  • Can this card be used to pay Latitude Credit Card bill? If I go to Auspost, can I use this card to pay my credit card bill through Post Billpay?

    Thanks in advance.

    • +1

      https://www.postbillpay.com.au/help/payment-methods

Typically you should not expect to be able pay CC bill with CC, only debit cards are accepted AFAIR, the gray area here is whether debit cards need be EFTPOS enabled or not, these MCs do not have EFTPOS.

  • I rang my private health insurer, they wont take payment in advance. I was looking forward to a 7% discount

    • +2

      Mine does (Bupa)

      • +1

        Great tip.

Just got rid of 20 cards in a flash with Bupaand more to come if I can find the cards

    • We called the private health insurer few months back, we can pay the premium with these cards, but I will lose the 4% discount from the direct debit setup. I only have 5x250, the discount is not enough to cover the 4% :(.

  • -2

    Not really 10%…that fee sucks!

    • It's still a very fair discount, the real problem is the lack of security of the cards when online retailers will honour transactions WITHOUT the need to use CVV.

      • I cashed out my last remaining credit from the earlier round using this method.

I've not had any compromises, but IF I buy in the future, I'll have to keep the receipt as proof of purchase against fraud attempts against these cards.

btw Using Amazon to convert to a gift card balance there, there was no need to enter the CVV…. which is the major crux of the security problem!

        • -1

Don't you know you can buy them for a discount of 3-4.5% ?

Your just wasting the power of the value of the MC 's by about 50% down the drain .

          • @popsiee: @popsiee … well, the way this panned out, I wanted out as quickly as possible and now the value is safe.

            • +1

@affinity: I lost $100 of Amazon gift card balance from someone hacking into my account and buying playstation credit.

              It's not safe there either.

              • @mysterytal: Okay, but my Amazon password is more secure than this risk; nothing is perfect.

Edit, I've got a long random password and I'm using TOTP for 2FA, so I am very confident that my Amazon login is secure and safe; assuming of course that Amazon doesn't have problem insiders and/or gets seriously breached.

About 100 of $250 cards were sitting at the Coles Queen St (Myer) in Brisbane around closure time if someone needs them. The stall is right next to the service desk, impossible to miss it.

  • does anyone know if you can use these card to buy another one of these cards in another transation

    • Yes you can as long as it's activated.

      • I second that.
I was able to use the card I purchased in the morning around 8am to purchase another card during midday lunch break.

Made sure the attendant wasn't looking over me (just in case they wanted to enforce the "don't use this card to purchase a GC" new policy)

(The morning card took a couple of hrs to activate but lunch time one was activated within 30mins). My store ran out of stock tho.

Hoping they restock again in the next few days.

        • thats nice to know, i tried doing it about 1.5 hrs after my first one but it didnt work for me so i guess that i didnt wait long enough for it to be active.
