  • Ok price, but the timing isn't great given it was $399 from Harvey Norman a month ago.

    • Lens included? or body only

      • lens is included.

      • +1

The lens was included in the Harvey Norman deal.
        http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/62092

        • HN's lens was 18-55mm III non-IS lens. So it is not exactly same package.

        • Is there any indication that this deal's lens is any different? Even the image they use has "EF-S 18-55mm III" on the lens. No mention of IS anywhere

        • it is exactly the same with the correction from the rep below…

"bring home the Ultimate Canon SLR camera"…

    • +3

if by 'ultimate' you mean 'cheapest'…

people paid $799 for these? sell them a bridge?

    • +2

Please get rid of the word "ultimate". It's an insult to us DSLR users.

      • -6

When it was first introduced….it was ultimate model at the time. And you probably wasn't DSL User at the time.

        • and now is not then!

        • When will then be now?

        • really? i thought the 1D line up is the ultimate Canon SLR camera. 1100 is ultimately the cheapest canon SLR camera.

  • "warranty from Cannon Australia!"

    • i think nikon have a std. 2yr local warranty now

i would think canon should respond to this

  • +3

Just a tip, the 'up to' comparison is quite irrelevant - there will always be crap stores selling at RRP so it's not useful information. A better idea would be to scout around for the next best price so we can see how much better you are than the competition. Saves us doing it :)

    • MAKES SENSE :) Will keep that IN mind the next time. Just had a quick look the next best price (Australian stock) with delivery is around the $490 mark.

  • +1

rep - please tone down the description a little - this is a nice entry level SLR at a good price - you will lose credibility if you make it out to be more that what it is..
eg - no need to call the 12MP "massive"
I'm going to vote positive b/c I would have bought this had I not bought my camera… but you are borderlinish with your description

  • Got this kit from HN for $386. Good at that price. The lens is no beauty - but it is pretty much a giveaway.

Add, say, a Canon 50mm f/1.8 and, perhaps, a Tamron 70-300MM F/4-5.6 LD Macro and you've got a useful kit to learn about DSLR photography with.

Easy to pass on to others as well - if upgraditis strikes, as it most probably will!

At $465? I'm not sure that I'd rush in an order. It is starting to get a bit closer to the point where you'd want to buy a better body and forget about the ordinary lens being thrown in here.

  • There is a slight correction, the camera comes with a 18-55 NON IS LENS. Apologies!

    • +1

But still the 'ultimate' Canon camera?

    • alas i am going to have to remove my positive vote - cant say its a great deal now

  • This is NOT the "ultimate" SLR camera and never was, this is the cheapest entry level Canon SLR camera. There is nothing "massive" about 12MP. Feel sorry for anyone who purchased this under the impression that they have purchased the top of the line Canon camera. Neg for misleading advertising to warn people against the absolute b.s description of this product.

"The mother of all deals"? You're kidding…
