These recently came out in Australia. I bought a pair of these 2 weeks ago from Amazon for $429. Managed to get a credit for the difference to the current price. Personally, I'm a huge fan of these headphones. The mic is amazing. You can also do wireless and bluetooth at the same time (for example using discord on ipad/mobile while gaming on the PlayStation). All controls are on the side of the headset (BT sound / wireless receiver sound etc) - ease of use too.

The wireless receiver can be used on computer/laptop and on the PS5 (and I assume PS4). It also comes with a wired connection in case you want to use it on the Xbox. Unfortunately, no Xbox wireless compatibility.

I really tried to find a wireless gaming headset to use on both Xbox and PS5 - unfortunately it's a very rare occurrence. I then settled on these headphones and haven't looked back, I love them.

The only downside I'd say is that they don't fit snug on my head. As in, if for some odd reason I decided to turn my head down, they would start to slide off. Personally, this is a non-issue for me, but just as FYI for others.

  • Anyone know how these would compare to Audeze Penrose?

    • So I researched the Audeze Penrose as they were my original option (because of the xbox and ps wireless compatibility). Users tended to report similar issues with them (I can't recall what they were now) and I decided against them. Two of the sources I used were reddit and whirlpool forum (Peripherals section - gaming headset thread).

It's one of those things, that there is no product that consumers will all be 100% happy with. However, I just found a tad too many mixed reports for my liking on the Penrose (YMMV).

    • I was so hyped for the Penrose, but ultimately let down but feature set, battery life, comfort etc. Sound was absolutely top quality though and nothing else I've used compares in that department.

    • +1

Can't comment in this but I have the Penrose. Preordered after reading into the hype. Mic isn't as great as they tout, battery life is pretty trash but I don't know what the norm is. I find the BT feature to be a gimmick and the mic volume dial is a stupid idea. The range isn't great, but again, I don't know what the norm is. Their software sucks, but I don't expect headphone software to ever be good. Comfort is meh but sound quality is very good, which is its only saving grace.

      • Mic is great in wired mode, but they opted to not allocate more bandwidth to the mic in wireless mode. There remains the possibility that changes in the future, as they may do work to implement LC3-related codecs to make this happen.

        • I sure hope so! I'd like to see my $400 stretch a bit more. I'm a bit embarrassed to say this, but I haven't tried mic mode yet. I received a 3.5mm cable but it's so short. Does it plug into the headphone or the mic jack on my pc?

          • @shiny1: Unless you've got a specific headset port (using TRRS 3.5mm) on your PC - which aside from laptops and mobile devices is unlikely - you need a splitter cable so it separates out the microphone output so you can plug it into the correct jack on your sound card.

The Penrose probably sounds the best via its wireless tech though, so I'd only use it when you want that higher quality recording.

  • I wouldn't mind a nice set of wireless cans, but call me old fashioned, at this price i expect spare parts availability for 10 years and service documentation.

Too many premium priced products that are unserviceable and have short warranties and support from manufactures and too many end users just accepting this as OK.

I'd be happy enough if i could just rely on getting a replacement battery if it lost capacity and a replacement dongle if i were to loose it along with replacement ear pads.

  • You can also do wireless and bluetooth at the same time (for example using discord on ipad/mobile while gaming on the PlayStation). All controls are on the side of the headset (BT sound / wireless receiver sound etc) - ease of use too.

I do this with my Steelseries sometimes, but I'm always worried my work call (bluetooth) and non-work sound source (possibly involving a computer game) might get mixed up..

    • Fair point - I've never used the Steelseries so I'm not sure if your concern is in regard to the software itself accidentally crossing or pressing the wrong buttons - but thus far I've had no issues using it with work /non-work sound sources.

  • These got great reviews, that price is still silly IMO. The pleb version was around 200 recently, no BT, etc.

I almost bought the new HS80, stock was delayed, ended up getting the CM MH670 for 110. Great after EQ, but really average without it.

If i were spending 400, it would be on the Penrose, I can see that was seriously considered too.

  • Wireless = battery = dead in a few years. Treat this is a consumable item. Better off getting a good wired headphone that will last a lot longer

  • How are they for tightness on your head? I have the previous version and they are great for voice and features but the only drawback is how much pressure they have on your head after an hour or so of wear.

    • +1

So prior to purchasing, I did my research and the most common complaint was what you've stated. Personally, I've had 0 issues with tightness, if anything it's been the opposite. I've worn them for about 4-5 hours in one sitting with no issues.

    Overpriced AF
Nothing special about them to be $400

Get the razer wireless v2 pro that was on special on here, or for that money get a HifiMan Planar Magnetic headphones for that or under. \
Rip off for a pair of shit corsair headphone. I dont see how they can charge $400 for that.

  • Unless you really like the colour, is there a reason to buy this one over the other colour options which are all cheaper?
    Gunmetal ($349), Espresso ($309), Pearl ($296), White ($229).

    • The other variations are not the Corsair XT. I noticed that and am unsure why Amazon showed it the way it is. The other colours is for previous models.
