  Is there any advantage to getting the Shield Pro vs sticking with Android TV on my Sony KD-65X9000F (2018) ?

  Primarily use the TV for Plex but I suppose it could be useful for streaming games to the living room TV from my PC.

    Get the Shield Pro. Trust me its better because of Kodi. Shield Pro + Kodi is the best combo when streaming 4K MKV from your NAS/PC without transcoding.

      I am using the tube version for about one year …. Just ordered the pro version last week! This should sort out the issue with my kodi playbacks (hopefully)!

        Yes it will. I was on the same boat as you using the Tube version and even though its great with 1080P stuff there were some issues with 4K MKV because of the 2GB of RAM compared to the 4GB of RAM on the Pro.

          @Wolfofwallstreet: Pro version has 3GB of RAM. If only it had 4GB of RAM like you claimed that would have been even better.

  Please be aware if using Wifi on the 2019 model, Kodi crashes out playing videos. There is a bug in the wifi driver on the 2019 which Kodi is unable to handle when the wifi connection momentarily drops out. Using ethernet resolves the issue.
