This previously popular handheld saw/pruner is back on sale again and cheaper than before. These are a good and fast way of pruning bushes and branches as opposed to using a handheld pruner or chainsaw.

Similar already exist in the market for those who haven't seen this before like the Stihl GTA 26, Bosch NanoBlade Saw and even Bunnings own Ozito PXC Pruner Attachment.

These work with Makita 18V batteries, but they are not a Makita product nor are they pretending to be one. A benefit of this is that the wife will know you didn't spend the big bucks, like a Makita skin would normally cost.

I don't trust Bangood they had deceived me twice by advertising something and delivering a differnt thing which is extremely cheap and very similiar. They do all the tricks mind it.

    • +6

You've just gone and spammed it on all these Banggood deals.

    • +5

I've bought a couple dozen products from them and they've always arrived as described. I'm typing this on a Redmi Note 9T that I got from them over two years ago.

    • +2

Tell us more. What items? How did you know they were different?

    • +3

The issue is not of receiving poor quality products, its the shit support you receive when something goes wrong.

I did comment this on another thread as well.

      • +1

I bought the SFF mini ATX case that came with a free Xiaomi mouse recently and it arrived with the locating posts for the front panel snapped off. I sent in some pics and they refunded me 50% of the price, I accepted the offer and glued them back on. Was pretty happy with them really.

      • +4

I ordered a sit to stand desk from them a while back, AusPost "misplaced" it (don't ask me how you can misplace a sit-to-stand desk) opened a case with them and spent about 2 weeks trying to find it but no one had any idea where it was.
Contacted Banggood support as a last resort, explained the problem and they did their thing for like 5mins and came back to tell me that they are sending out a replacement desk. Received it 10 days later. Have to admit their support was outstanding, was never expecting them to even send out an other one.

        • I likely ordered the exact sit stand desk you are referring to BW ESD2 - it was defective and did not work. I had a nightmare of a time with support, atleast 50+ messages back and forth, the rep repeating the same thing over and over again. They were not going to give me a refund or a replacement and tried every trick in the book to not give me a refund.

Honestly, if I didn't have paypal I'd be out $150.

Don't get me wrong, I think their products are great and I did place multiple orders after that bad experience, but I think people should be aware that their product are a hit and miss and support can be a nightmare at times.

          • +1

@tainhendesu: Is that the electric one? Mine is the manual one, think mine was only $90.
Yeah never had a defective product from there so cant really comment. Only thing i think i had going for me was that mine came for the Sydney warehouse and i guess cause they could see i raised a problem with Auspost they just sent me out a new one. Oh and yeah i did pay with Paypal, tend to use that with where ever i can like right now with Aliexpress where they are refusing to give me a refund for a no show purchase.

Yeah i agree with you there sounds like support is hit and miss with them, might have just been the person i got was having a good day and decided to give me a break. But i also guess they would have some sort of insurance with Auspost so probably a write off for them anyways.
I guess I have been one of those the lucky ones where products have been good and support have been good as well (although this is probably the 2nd time i have had to contact them).

      • -2

        You have me curious.
Ive spent over 10k with banggood and not had a problem with support.

I just record the unboxing and test, and if something is wrong, they replace.

Which chinese exporter do you find better to deal with? Im always keen to learn of more exporters.

        • +3

I'm not OP but I have had a very negative experience with Banggood customer service.

I bought a cheap (~$120) LED projector which arrived damaged and did not power on at all. If you turned it upside down something clunked around inside. There was enogh of an impact to actually damage the plastic on the projector, and one the video input ports were all misaligned. It was literally just the thin cardboard box in a bag, with no extra protection, so of course had been smashed around.

I had bought the shipping insurance (yeah…) so figured, no worries, according to the policy on the website, claiming it would be easy!

The claims page suggested making a video of the problem, so I did, and sent it and a bunch of pics from every angle. They asked for me to test with multiple power cables and send another video, which I did. Then they wanted another video of it being tested on another wall socket, despite me plugging in a light up USB charger to show the socket had power.

Then they asked me to open up the projector and look for loose wires and reconnect them… At this point I realised they were not going to be giving me my money back or a new projector, but I kept playing along.

I declined opening it up, so instead they asked me to take it to an electronics repair store, get a free quote, and send them the quote for repair. I also declined this offer, and instead just kept asking about the shipping insurance.

They refused to acknowledge the insurance at all (which says they would refund or reship within one day), and eventually Banggood decided I needed to ship the projector back at my cost, and they would repair it, or refund me, if they decided it was broken during shipping.

At this point I contacted my credit card company, who did a charge back and all was sorted.

Mostly I shop such things via eBay because of the much better protections as a buyer. But sometimes Banggood has great prices, and I have bought plenty of other things without issue. Still, super frustrating.

Can i use it to trial brain surgery?

    • Of course you can. Do you need a hand to find your brain since this only comes as a skin?

      • if you can fit your hand up my nose… sure

wouldn't recommend, I couldn't get it pass the pericranium. Patient not happy.

guys i bought this from ebay for about $40 with battery. it works well. especially for something the width of your arm. if you're looking at sawing something the width of your thigh then you have to do it in a few go's from different sides - might be an issue for hard to reach places with angles. i kinda wish i got the 6" version but still ok with this one as i don't know if the 6" version would work as well as this one. the battery from the ebay one is not 18v as advertised, but it works. cheers.

  • please do not buy these. they are dangerous. no protection when they bounce back. again please do not buy

    • +1

Using a chainsaw one-handed is madness as well as the user ending up one-handed.

      • +2

For a guardsman maybe, not for the Emperor's Finest.

      • As an owner, can you clarify how you are getting bounceback from such a low torque, and how you're managing to keep hold of the tiny trigger when not 'correctly gripped'?

I also own one, and I just cant figure out how you wound up in that scenario.

    • +1

They don't have enough torque to kick back.

I don't find mine dangerous at all

  • the wife should be able to handle this size chainsaw

  • Would this be strong enough to cut my toast in half for breaky?

  • A bypass pruner is way cheaper and more effective

    • No chance.
      I have both.

      Mini chainsaw wins every time

    • +2

Can you link a bypass pruner capable of 4" (or 8 inch with 2 passes) cuts?

We just finished a whole weekend pruning the yard using these; palm trees, gum limbs, bamboo, hibiscus trunks. All within seconds.

What would you recommend to compete?

  • +1

I have one of these and I have one of the electric pruners which costs way more since the motor needs more torque. They are bloody brilliant .. I got so excited that I brought a blower .. that was crap. The batteries can be interchanged with worx or makita depending on what you get, the units themselves perform way beyond their price.. both the pruner and the saw. My feedback is not based on what has been advertised but on the assumption that pretty much everything on Alibaba/Aliexpress/Banggood is the same.

I did not buy from Banggood so I cannot comment on this particular product but it looks the same as what I have.

    • I'm confused. Why did you bring the blower?

      • Now I am confused.. where did I "bring" it ?

      • +1

I think what you meant to say was why did I mention the blower. Well the pruner and the saw were so bloody impressive I thought the miniature blower would be good as well .. It was not.

I just ordered for $25.85 delivered. I was thinking about it last time, but decided to jump on this time. I have plenty of batteries and thing it'll be super handy pruning small branches - can't wait! Easier than getting out the reciprocating saw (mines corded)

    • But did you need it or did you get caught up in the moment in true OB style??

  • So i bought this last time in the previous deal, chainsaw works great with a genuine makita battery. It does not work well with a non genuine battery, the chain is really cheap so u need to eventually replace it with a decent chain and also use a spray can to grease up the chain when you are using it.

  • +2

I was comparing on eBay. I could not see anything cheaper for the exact same unit with no battery, so nice find!

But here are some other similar and decent deals.

Same Makita compatible 4" saw (in red) + 1x battery. $32.88

4" Not Makita compatible, different design, + 1x battery. $29.99

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/154634496758

8" (same as the above) + 1x battery. Doesn't say if Makita compatible but looks the same. $67.99
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/203626321409

8" Brushless Makita compatible. No battery. Has chain oiler. Probably not actually brushless. $59.69
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/313647655281

Just for fun I bought the $14 one to see how bad / good it is. I will adapt it to Ozito batteries.

I previously did a quick and dirty (but effective) Ozito conversion to one of those $10 Autobarn tools (the heat gun). I used a 3D printed battery wall holder clip I had spare (I bought a bunch on eBay to neaten up my battery charging area). I just disconnected the tool battery connection tabs, heated them up and pushed them through the 3D printed plastic holder, and screwed the holder onto the bottom of the tool. It looks ugly, but works fine.

    • The $14 one looks like a good buy.
Better than. The one I have as mine doesn't have a safety trigger nor the kickback guard.

Might buy it as a spare.

I use it to cut timber too as it can be faster for rough cuts where precision isn't required.

    • +1

Thanks mate. $14 was a good candidate for ozito conversion.

      Step 1
      Open unit

      Step 2
      Reverse polarity

      https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/119657/91752/20211017_…

      Step 4
Use a knife and shave off about 1mm of the plastic on the front corners of battery rail guide..

      Step 5 enjoy

        Awesome!

Yours arrived super quickly. Mine only just turned up today. First thing I noticed was the Ozito battery lined up perfectly, but didn't quite click in.

I hopped back on here to comment, and saw you were way way ahead of me :)

Will mod mine tonight. You have made that very easy! Thanks!

I wonder if there are any other cheap tools on eBay with the same easily modded dimensions…

        • Yeah let me know if you find other moddable tools.

Reach out if you get stuck with the mods.

          • @edrift: Thanks!

This $10.85 Impact Wrench looks interesting. (free delivery)

            https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/384415112676?hash=item5980ed1de4…

I ordered one, though low feedback count (while positive) may indicate a scam listing. But hopefully just a price issue or mistake, since they have the same ones also for sale for a higher price…

            • @Prong: Good find.

Looks like a scam but I'll give it a go anyway.

            • @Prong: Thanks for this. Turns out it wasn't a scam and it actually arrived today to my delight!

I had it sent to a parcel point just in case.

The polarity matches ozito but the terminal spacing is way too wide (,40mm)

Just got it opened. Requires 4xphilips screws at the head to be removed, then a bunch of T10 torx holding the plastic case together.

T10 were easy to remove except for the single one on the base
It was set too deep for a regular hex drill.bit to fit. Was too deep for electronic T10 screw driver too. Had to fabricate something just to remove the last screw.

Motor indeed is brushless (3 wires instead of 2).

3d printing an ozito mount then will fit the pins to that

  • Is there one for Milwaukee batteries?

  • Thanks OP. Bought one

  • +1

I bought one from one of the previous deal and haven't used so far due to lack of a suitable model of battery… any recommondation on the cheap solution for battery?

  • Is this item actually an "electric" chainsaw ??

    • Its not hand cranked.

    • +1

      It uses electricity…

  • So this is not Makita but using a Makita battery?

    • Yes but the battery is not included.

  • any good deals for Makita battery?

  • Perfect for mini murders

  • +1

For anyone with Ozito battery, the $14 mini chainsaw is the Ozito battery mount.

    Mine arrived today
Woohoo. I have about 8 ozito battery already

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/133830712647

Note you need to make the smallest of mods to fit the battery.
    1. Reverse polarity
    2. Trim or melt a tiny 2mm recess so the battery fully slides in

If you don't know how to do this, then maybe you shouldn't be playing with a mini chainsaw

  • Man I am glad that this is AU stock, so that it can sit in the Fastway sorting facility in Australia for a week.

    • Aramex are never an issue for me. Perhaps I just have a competent driver?

      • Doesn't look like it's at the driver stage yet - although from experience Aramex are slow at updating their tracking, so it might show up one morning.

        • Hopefully it doesn't come from Melbourne. I've had packages stuck there for 3 weeks.

          • @Clear: Mines been at the facility since 13/10 - in Sydney destined for Victoria. Even Australia Post has been faster at this rate.

  • 4 inch? My wife would leave me for this.

  • Mine rocked up today after 3.5 weeks. I thought it would be faster given AU stock. I got the box and whatever is inside is rattling around completely unprotected. I open it up and see this https://ibb.co/YpsL1dC, assembly required and zero instructions….. great.

    • there's a video on the banggood website showing how to assemble it

      • Yeah I went there for instructions
