I know and love that their name sounds a little like the bad guy from Highlander.

  • Tempting. I am not sure about the image quality though.

I have a 32" LED TV from Hisense. It has great value for money and the screen is OK as well. However the operating interface is frustracting. It's slow and the font is too small. Those small details sometimes will kill a good deal. I wonder if anyone have a Kogan TV and could provide some insights.

    • Got 3, 24 inches last July with all region DVD LED Full High definition TVS for $239.00 each delivered. All 3 are working well ..So far no hasles.
Even if something goes wrong down the track…. Not much spent on each of them to worry. An excuse to get a new one every couple of years.

Well i have a Kogan 42" led full hd which i got off Ebay around a year ago for about $680.
One thing for sure, it's good value for money, there was no brand named tv that could compete with that price and it was decent priced even for a non brand comparatively to its features.
However it is far from perfect:
      - when the source is hd the image quality is great and we have no issues with it. However when the source is not so good (e.g. Old divx files or even dvds) than the image quality is not so good. Obviously the image processor units are not as good as brand ones, the panel itself seems good.
      - the speakers are crap and crackles at times even at really low volume, we usually use a surround system when we watch anything other than tv and sometimes are forced to do so even with tv, depends on the show.
      - a slice of black plastic has started peeling from above the screen, does not look good (otherwise i think the unit is actually very aesthetic)
      - when time shifting it stutters
      - generally the transition between inputs is very slow
I could claim warranty on some of the issues and I'm sure at some point i will, but for now i am not ready to be without atv for a couple of weeks.

In retrospect if i had to buy again i would spend a few hundred more for a decent brand in a good sale. I do think they are good for bedroom tvs or for people on a budget.
Most importantly do not be mislead by their false advertisement and marketing such as "we cut the middle men" or "it's the same tv as brand x" - its not.

Hope this helps other people make a good decision.

PS due to the above i would never trust their tvs with a technology as complicated as 3d (which even the big brands don't always get right). The worst thing is that you cannot check them out before buying and review resources on the net are few.

I'm waiting for the free steak knives

and plays High Definition 3D content from… live TV broadcasts

All the 3D transmitters were removed a while back, with no plans to put them back!

  • This is because nobody was prepared to buy their tablets.
