    Weber :)

      BBQ :D

    • Yeah I was wondering why I didn't get a notification for this deal.. I should have spelled it wrong :)

    • +2

      Updated - thanks :-)

    • +1

      That's the… Spirit?

  • +1

I am sure this is a well built BBQ based on the price, do they make a version with 6 burners instead of 3?

    • I think the biggest they do is a 4 burner from the premium range.

I actually have the E320 BBQ that I got with my Virgin points before they went bankrupt.. It's a great Q.

      • It's a great Q.

        It's not a Weber Q

        • We bbq folk call all bbq's a Q.

I'm more of a charcoal guy but I must say having a gasser is great.

  • +1

I'm looking at getting a Q… what's the difference between something like this and the Q series? This looks quite robust!

    • +1

One burner vs three. You need this if you want to roast.

      • +1

The Q can roast, though? (just takes longer to get up to temp)

      • +1

We have a family Q and roast regularly. Just need a trivet and some foil, and make sure the middle burner is off.

    • Spirit has better and more powerful burners. Also hood is thicker so much better for roasting. Better ignition system in Spirit as well as compatibility with igrill temperature management tool.

I’ve been using this for about a year … a great BBQ. It has enough grill space to cook for 6ppl… you’d want more burners (the next size up) if you cook for a team or if you cook a lot with indirect heat (I.e. burners off under the thing your cooker and on around it)

  • I have the 4 burner, this thing is amazing as a regular BBQ.

If I needed a smaller I would buy this and a cover

  • IMO worth the extra on the premium - though it seems to not be as available in the newer Weber models. It's got the extra burner on the left between burners 1 and 2. Perfect for searing steaks. It's also got the extra side burner, good alternative when I don't want to set off my very sensitive smoke alarm indoors, and its also got an extra layer of insulation in the hood to keep it hot.

Thanks OP. I've been looking at these over the Family Q, the only issue appears to be the lack of hot plate? The wife insists on a hot plate to do onions, mushrooms and other veg. What are people using for a hot plate on the Spirit?

    • Mine came with a hot plate, not sure if they still do

    • Pretty sure it comes with a hot plate.

      • I asked via online chat, the person said only comes with grills. But they may clueless tbh

    • You can put one top of the grill… not sure if there is a bespoke spirit one

  • Awesome BBQ I love it, great upgrade from the Weber Q

  • can you get the same taste as BBQ on coals?

    • +1

I have a weber genesis silver, assume this model is somewhat the same internally just a little smaller. It has flavourizer bars, which catch the drippings and produce some smoke, etc.

Not like coals no. But for me I find it a lot better than a standard gas grill flavour wise and the convenience factor is there.

      • +3

Weber gas for the weekdays. Kettle for the weekends ;)

  • Already have two Webers. Hmmmm, do I need a third?

    • The Frenchs always say "jamais deux sans trois"…

      • +1

But also have a Hibachi as well. sooo That's trois

  • I have one of these and it's been terrific. I considered the largest family q but in the end I think it was maybe $100 more to get this and I'm very happy with the purchase.
If anyone is looking at bigger the genisis? Series is 4 burners+ and can heat to 400degrees and has an even better build quality.

  • -1

Must be Ferrari version of a BBQ. Lol. What's next? This?

    • +3

NO! Once you've bought a Weber, you'll understand why they cost that much. Yes, there are other brands now that equal Weber and for less (count in one hand). But in terms of overall build quality and the outstanding after-sales service that Weber has, especially warranty. Nothing comes close to them, also when it comes to lasting.

    • Get what you pay for really.
You can get a $200 bunnings BBQ, do the same thing, but you will need to keep it 100% clean and in your car garage, else any type of weather will destroy it after 2-3 years.

  • +1

I have this BBQ. It's excellent. However it doesn't get super dooper hot for a fast sear. So if you regularly cook thin steaks or just want to sear something that's been sous vide, you will need a different option.

    • +1

I actually have the version of this with the side burner, so if I just want to quickly sear something, I put a cast iron pan on the side and let it get white hot.

    • Yeah i've got one and same problem with it. I just don't do steaks on the BBQ anymore which is kind of at odds with why you buy a BBQ.
It's great for everything else, but it just does not get hot enough to cook a proper steak.

      • I find it's only an issue with thin steaks. So I try and get one thick one between two or three people, rather than a thin one per person.

But to be fair, not many BBQs will do thin steaks with a good sear without overcooking. Your only options for that are BBQs with a dedicated searing section, where they have an extra burner that is the fire of a thousand suns.

  • -2

Massive money for a 3 burner. Might as well just use the kitchen.

  • I have one of these. Better than the Weber Q series (also more expensive). Holds heat really well and stably, you can definitely use it like an oven. Pretty easy to clean, no real issues there. It's a Weber so you know its a quality product.

  • -5

Jumbuck at bunnings does the same job for half the price.

Webers are only good for their kettles and Q's designs/well rounded heat etc

    • 1 year warranty vs 10 year warranty says it all

  • I have had the weber q for 15 plus years and love it.

  • +2

I was tossing up between the Weber Spirit II and the Napoleon Rogue 425. They seem to compete with each other and are similarly priced.

It was very close and by all accounts the Weber is a great BBQ but I finally pulled the trigger on the Napoleon this morning because of several factors:

    • Better looking (IMHO)
    • Gas bottle can be hidden in cabinet
    • Can purchase a charcoal box that sits under the grill. Can also be used for wood chips.
    • 15 year warranty
    • Got $100 off thanks to eBay

It's getting delivered tomorrow. Can't wait for a steak tomorrow night.

    • Very nice looking barbecue. Enjoy!

      • Thanks - enjoy your new BBQ too. I'm sure the Weber is every bit as good and in many areas better than the Rogue.

  • Purchased this at the start of the year.

I have a family of 4 and might be a touch on the small side but aside from that I've been very happy with it.

  • I dunno if its modern times, but every hard rubbish weekend i see a BBQ out on the pile at every second house. Dont make them like they used to?

    • +1

Doubt you'd see a Weber though

      • -1

Not as common, but usually the large round black ones (not sure on model name) - not the Weber Q series.

        • Probably see the charcoal/woodfired ones as they are a pain unless you love doing that sort of thing. Given that they are usually snapped up by people who love that stuff and renovate them to sell.

  • Anyone has feedback on Ziggy ? They are sold at BBQ Galore and the salesperson tried to convince me they are on par with Weber.

    • LOL no. It's their house brand, of course they'd say that.

      • Granted that but it doesn't mean it has to be an inferior product. Reviews on their page seems good and looks like are from legitimate owners. They priced similar to Weber especially the portable that's why I ask.

        • IMWO - Never trust online reviews.. specially on their own page…

    • I think it’s a bit like Holden V Ford to be honest

I've got friends with each (more with weber due to name) in their vans - and all are happy with their selection.. one is easier to cook with the lid open if I remember.

    • 7 year warranty is pretty good but still less than the 10 on the Weber, and you know Weber will not give you a hard time (don't know about Ziggy, might also be fine).

    • +1

I bought a Ziggy (I already have an natural gas Weber) for a house renovation so we could cook with bottled gas. It was ok - quality wasn't great to be honest compared to the Weber.

  • Does this come with cover and hotplate?

    • Hot plate - possibly some say it does others say it doesn’t.
      Cover - no, it’s an extra $92.

    • I got this (E310) a year ago from Appliances Online (it was $746 at the time). It does come with a hotplate but no cover. The grill is two even halves, and the hotplate replaces one of those. As Dennycrane said above, not huge for a family of 4, but big enough. You can cook exactly 4 patties on the hotplate.
You do have to assemble it, which takes a while.

  • +1

Damn, I can't add it to the cart. Out of stock already?

    • Yeah all gone :(

  • Combank has targeted $30 cash back for purchases over $300 for Appliances Online

  • Our Webber spirit has a serious rust problem, we are in land and no where near the sea.
May be ours was a dud but I’m shying away from Webber fir my next BBQ investment.

    • +1

with a 10 year warranty I think it can easily be covered.

  • I just got called by AO telling me Weber have just discontinued the BBQ and they can't fulfil my order and offered me a refund.

    • interesting, thanks!
      Spirit III incoming?

      • Or just a lie as theyre out of stock.

Got them to send me a Napoleon Rogue 425 instead (due to the above poster recommendation) for an extra $40.

        • +1

they lied, btw. The BBQ is back in stock at AO :)

I picked up one from Weber.

          • +1

@beatsntoons: Well this kind of worked out, as the Nap Rogue I bought instead came damaged and I just initiated a return. Guess I'm getting the weber now for $2 less than originally.

Though annoying as my life would have been easier if they just sent me the weber originally.

    • Yeah I got the same call as well. Noticed it was back in stock last week for the higher price. Called them up and complained and they redid the order at the original sale price and it was just delivered today.
