      Placebos have that effect!
      In my experience the same users go onto say you can't trust scientists who run independent studies & then push advertising in my hand to prove others are also believers.

      Pain is totally subjective, so can not be measured other than by self-report. So it is hard to quantitatively measure changes. Therefore complex experimental design is required. Simply talking with a subject may lower the reported level. CBT and other techniques which result in changes in thinking will result in changes in subjective pain. Belief in a Placebo will have that effect by itself.

      If you waste so much money on a product, you have to tell yourself you are not a loser, so say how great you feel using it.
