  • these two options use the same panel, made by lg.

  • SO, what's "better" ? I had been thinking of something like 2x 32" - 34" panels and possibly another 24" in portrait to the side.. or this and 1 single 24" portrait …. ???

I used this 49" for a few months and it's a little too wide for my liking. I'm now pretty happy with a single 38". 2x 34s will give you a huge bezel in the middle :(

this dual qhd is kinda equivalent to 2x27@qhd. if you dont mind the resolution or ppi, and dont fancy/need/want the high refresh rate, either dell or lg is a reasonable option.

I'm running 2x32" S3220DGF which are great overall, mostly use for productivity/work.

Depends what you want it for. I prefer dual screens for work (and cost), and for graphics you get a lot of real estate so the bezel doesn't worry me. If you want dual screen gaming it would be very distracting having a black line in the middle (3x27" is prob better for racing sims). 2k/ QHD is great for games but can't help thinkin 2x 32" 4k would be better now foro what i want. Can always just look at one screen for games.

A 49" 4k equivalent (ultrawide) would be best of both.

    • I am using one 34" Ultrawide (main in the middle) + 14" 4K Mobile Screen + 12.9' iPad Pro (side by side under the main) as my productivity setup
for gaming, I am using Oculus Request 2 via Link.
I've tried 2* 24, 2 * 27 and 2*32, too wide from my neck either side by side or stacking.
A nice video from a youtuber about dual screen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1N3jlgqcQ4&t=87s

      • Depends how close you are sitting and what you're used to, I find duals fine. 32" is getting wide but kind of use one as a primary and have related stuff on the middle of the second one. 24" no problem at all. Handy splitting things up to make to the most of the real estate. Obviously ultrawide better for gaming or watching movies. Curved make it easier to see the corners (not as far away and more immersive).

The problem with the 34" ultrawide is the lack of Depth, but a pretty good option for most people. My mate has a Dell 43" 16:9 4k, that's another option.

Anyway $1800 is still a bit expensive for this ultrawide when is the same res as 2x 32" you can get for ~$500-600, would be good for gaming though without the bezel (if it was VA and high refresh) otherwise recommend higher res for that size but $$).

  • After much thought I went with the 38" rather than the 49". LG preferred to Dell as well, although it is more expensive.
The 38" has only 17% less pixels as it has greater height.
The 49" is very wide but rather shallow.
I believe Dell are releasing a 40" 5k2k which if you can wait and have deep pockets might be a sweet spot.

  • I couldn't justify this monitor even though the dual QHD is awesome… It has been down as low as 1350 though, but unlikely ever to hit that again

    • +1

yes it's a bit too expensive for not 5k/2k res I reckon.
If ya don't mind the bezel (dual 32" monitors) are great for productivity and about 30mm wider than this ultra wide
