Telstra Day: $240 off Apple Watch Series 6 (GPS + Cellular 40mm $509, 44mm $559 Delivered) & More @ Telstra (Telstra ID Req.)

24144

It's that time of the month again: Telstra Day. It's starting Thursday 7 October, and we're leading with $240 off the Apple Watch Series 6 range.

We've also got handset deals ready to launch, but I can't tell you about them until Thursday. I'll add the full list of deals the second I'm able to.

This is the third time we've done this, and folks internally at Telstra love that y'all get on board for a bargain. I've spoken to the team with a few of the questions you keep asking me, and got some answers ahead of the sale in the post itself (https://exchange.telstra.com.au/telstra-day-october-2021/).

Sale kicks off at 1am AEDT (store takes about an hour to roll over this many new deals!) on Thursday morning, and goes all day.

Mod Note: Based on Telstra's Apple Watch Series 6 Product Page

$240 off of Apple watches? It helps me as I was planning on getting one for my daughter. I'll hold off.

Yep my exact problem. I thought I was going crazy with the wrong address, good to know I am not the only one. Hence my earlier comment about Telstra Support being POS ;-)

      • Luckily for me, the delivery guy from Startrack called me as the unit number was missed from the delivery address. So was saved from any hassle

$240 off the Apple Watch Series 6 range

So how much is it? What size will be available? Wifi only, wifi and cellular or both? On a plan or outright?

I’ve never seen such a long description in a post that doesn’t actually say anything.

    • +2

Based on Telstra's Apple Watch Series 6 Product Page

      • GPS + Cell 40mm $749 -> $509
      • GPS + Cell 44mm $799 -> $559

Assuming a flat $240 off all model

Assuming a flat $240 off all model

        We shouldn't need to assume.

Either the rep posts the actual price, or the deal shouldn't be allowed.

        • Mod had to do it for them, assuming Jack doesn't join the party ;)

      • Where's Jack? Waiting for him to join the chat! ;)

      • From sneak peek today, it seems like only 40mm in red color is on sale…

        • The description from OP/Rep mentions 'Apple Watch Series 6 range' but I guess we'll find out at 1am.

  • +1

my guess there would be iPhone 12 series on sales to clear stock :)

    • Apple's still selling the iPhone 12 and 12 mini…

      • +1

not the 12 Pro and Pro Max, which are not bad at all with decent discount

    • I would love to buy one

    • they just have a 128gb iPhone 12 Pro @$1349 which is interestingly, the RRP of the iPhone 13.

At JB the iPhone 12 Pro 128GB is now at $1529 and the new iPhone 13 pro at RRP is $1699.

Why pay for advertising when you can just get the marketing department to spam ozbargain?

          • +2

@lukehopewell: How bout telling whoever u work with to fix customer service sick of getting 10 different answers

    • The deal is clearly stated, what's the issue?

      • Deal wasn't stated, only a price of $240 off which means nothing if the original price is higher than RRP from Apple…

      • -3

Sure, clearly stated $240 off without stating what the final price is or what actual model will be available. Or if a plan is required.

        The post is a joke.

    • Agree

    • +33

Honestly, this is one of the better deals for an Apple Watch Series 6 ever on Ozbargain. If anything, just reading the linked post says that there's an extra $2 (pre-paid sim) charge if you've never dealt with Telstra before.

Sure, "They're associated", "They work for Telstra", etc. But anyone on our site could stumble upon this deal, post it, and no one would call "Advertising". There's a reason why OzBargain allows associated posts on this site.

A bargain is a bargain, regardless who posts it. It benefits everyone.

        • +1

And I agree, @lukehopewell should have read the rules before posting, especially as an associate. But I also think its great that our community is able to come together, recognise a good deal and help them set it up for the other 90% who have yet to see it.

        • Waiting for those downvotes to turn into upvotes when this is all over.

          Ridiculous and obviously advertising.

No disclosure of watch colours. Majority of them out of stock, limited stock on others (Navy ran out an hour before the sale).

And people still getting screwed with the address issue.

    • +4

ozbargain have expolited telstra point hacks, its a fair trade

      • Hahaha

  • +1

Perhaps a dumb question. Do you need an existing Telstra ID/account to purchase or can you just create one during check out?

    • +2

Based on Previous Telstra Day Deals, a Telstra ID account would be required.

Update: from the Main Deal Page

You don’t need to be a Telstra customer, but you do have to have a Telstra ID to checkout at the store for Telstra Day.

    • +1

Yes, so you either need to be an existing customer or activate a sim, which can be about $2.

    • interestingly enough, i just tried logging into my old telstra account (I haven’t used telstra for a couple of years) and I can still log in.
Now to see if there is anything I want on Thursday and Telstra still accept my old ID without taking out a $2 sim, although that price for an Apple Watch 6 is pretty good.

      • +1

I found out last month that I could still log in with an old Telstra ID, but I couldn't buy product because I didn't have a current service. I wasn't interested enough in the purchase to jump through hoops.

        • Same issue here! Conned a friend into buying with their ID in the end and transferred the money.

  • clearing soon to be old models of watches right as the series 7 is meant to be available to pre-order, according to rumours?

    • Apple store says you can order series 7 from Friday - https://www.apple.com/au/apple-watch-series-7/

    • The 7's basically the same as the 6 with a slightly bigger screen area…

      • Which sounds like nothing but have you seen a series 0-3 compared to a 4-6? It'll feel the same moving to a 7.

        • +1

True. But the planned 7 was meant to be completely different to what Apple ended up announcing recently. In this case it would definitely be worth waiting for series 8.

          • @ldee: planned or rumoured? there is quite a difference between the two.

I would suspect far more likely Apple management was doing a spot of canary trapping a few leakers.

            • @entropysbane: Hard to say. A lot of the evidence out there seems to suggest it was planned, but failed due to new components not fitting to the newly redesigned housing that was to resemble the new iPhone body.

  • -3

a deal without the actual price. Is it still a deal?

  • +20

To be fair, this Telstra pre-announcement is more useful than eBay's 15-20% off sale, where jacking and bots snapping up flash sales are rampant.

  • +3

Any deal on the iPhone 12 mini?

    • Obi-Wan: That’s why I’m here.

  • Thanks for letting us know OP.

  • -5

Is the iphone 13 pro max on half price?

    • why would it be it just came out

    • Sign up to 24 mo contract. JB has upto $1200 subsidy on for their $99 plan.

  • +6

Great price. People on this site will complain about anything.

  • +6

Still waiting for my phone from last deal!

    • I hope Telstra wrap my S21 and put a bow on it as this is probably going to arrive about xmas time! Given the 8 weeks wait for back order was advised before the local postal system had a full meltdown. Love a good over sell!

  • +48

Ordering with Telstra is just not worth the trouble.
I bought an S21 during last months offer and it still has not been delivered.
They also wouldn't do anything about it and sent my case to various teams that never called me within the quoted time period, resulting in numerous (I'm talking in the dozens) frustrating calls where they would not do anything and would not flag it as lost in transit until they did some 28 day investigation. There were times when they just walked away from the phone mid conversation.
Honestly feel like I've lost years off my life dealing with them and would highly recommend avoiding them altogether for all their products.
Only after I escalated the complaint to the TIO did they try and offer a solution, but I didn't think it was necessary until they repeated said they would "call in 48 hours" and never rang. Happy for anyone to ask any questions that could help them decide not to be a Telstra customer.

    • Got mine delivered in 2 days. Melb metro

      • Got mine delivered next day, two S21s. The ordering process was horrific, but well worth the saving.

    • +4

I agree. Telstra support is POS. Good when things go smoothly, but when I had a problem with an order (not my fault, their system stuffed up), they told me someone will get back to me in 48 hours, never did. Chased up and they still gave me the wrong info, twice (wasted my time relying on the info I was given)…

    • +4

I'm in the same situation, I contacted them several times and they told me they'll get back to me in a few days, but I've received no response.

What solution did they try to offer you?

      • +7

When my complaint finally got escalated, they offered a refund for the amount I paid and instructed me to buy another phone from them and they would refund 50% of the total. I definitely didn't want to order online for delivery so they said it's fine if I pick it up from a local store. None of my locals had the same model in stock so they allowed me to get an s21 ultra as a substitute for 50% off. This ending, as good as it sounds, was not as satisfying after a month of messing around as it would have been if they had just offered this as soon as the item went missing. Definitely recommend referring the complaint to the TIA asap as this is what caused them to actually do something.

        • +2

I had almost the exact situation as you… Except when I got to the store I was told they had cancelled my order. No notification no nothing wtf?

Honestly I think I'll be giving telstra days a miss.

          • @Almundo Oz: Yep agreed. I'd be very careful on the upcoming deal.

        • +3

My complaint is with the TIO now, Telstra responded saying they will refund me and that is the only resolution they are willing to provide. It's now at the next level with the TIO as I said it's unresolved. The letter Telstra sent after their response to the TIO wasn't accurate as to what we discussed on the phone, the letter said to contact them further to discuss via reply email however when I did that the email came back saying the case was closed and submit a new complaint. Now waiting for the TIO to contact Telstra again.
I ordered 2 s21 5g 256gb (one for me, one for the wife) one arrived after a bit over 2 weeks after contacting Telstra via chat every single day for literally all my working day, each time I was promised I'd get a call within 24hrs. Have never gotten the call yet. I encourage everyone waiting to lodge a TIO complaint as Telstra won't do a thing and particularly with the 50% offer someone was offered here. That's what I'll now be pushing for.

          • +3

@beardo: After lodging a complaint with the TIO, Telstra contacted me a couple of days before the due date. They were rude and only offered less than what I actually paid for. I let them know politely that their offer wasn't good enough, as the debacle had been going on for months.

The complaint manager had the nerve to say that "I recommend you accept this offer, as if you don't, you might not get anything at all from us." I told them that I'll just let the TIO sort it out then, and requested that any further communication be in writing.

They called me back on the eve of the outcome deadline and offered me what I asked for.

I've never had such bad customer service from any company than I have from Telstra. I actually have to call them again today about some billing issues and I'm dreading wasting hours getting it sorted.
