Hasn't actually gone down in price. $79 was the launch price at Big W.
Good timing for coupon though - could have used the Afterpay one at launch.
In one sale or another
There always seems to be something around the corner, Tales of Arise also had a small sale shortly after release.
Thats a different game, this is death stranding.
I usually find that big game releases are cheaper on pre-release and in weeks 1 and maybe 2 because of the competition between retailers driving the price down amid high interest from consumers.
When that interest starts to wane you can see the price go up $10 or so, and then over time (dependent on factors like which publisher, console, how sales have been, what else is in market) the price comes down.
Hard disagree, I get most of my games from Amazon on release day for like 30% off. I would have saved $5 if I wanted to wait what, 3 more weeks for Deathloop? No thanks.
Can absolutely see your point but the $12 more to play this on release was totally worth it.
Yeah at the end of the day to each their own.
If you're excited for a game then by all means you'd want to play it on release, but I'm talking mostly for games that you think "eh looks alright, we'll see" kinda thing.
For sure! A good thing to bear in mind!
Still cheaper on release.
Fingers crossed they make it this cheap again around Black Friday
Played it for 2 weeks and sold it. Lots of bugs are still in the game.
When was this?
I just got it last week and completed it yesterday and didn't run into a single bug the whole way through - about 40-50 hours of game time.
I only heard about it being buggy recently so I'm assuming they've patched almost everything out already.
(I'm assuming we're talking about Deathloop here).
Between the release date and about a week ago.
Several times it would just freeze or it would be stuck on a menu without being able to exit
Death stranding is 58 at Harvey norman
I loved Death Stranding on PS4. Tempted to buy the PS5 upgrade for $20, but I don't think I'd ever play it again just because it took so damn long. Has anybody tried it? Is it much of an upgrade visually? Don't really care so much about the extra content - like I said, the game was already more than long enough anyway, I don't really need MORE of it.
I bought the PS5 upgrade even though I’d played heaps of it on PS4 (finished it and then some). As soon as I loaded up the PS5 upgraded version and started the first mission I was like “ahhh shit, here we go again”. It felt the same. But it looked so nice on PS5. But no desire to go through all of it again.
Yeah, it looked damn nice on PS4 Pro anyway, so I'm not sure how much better it could actually look on PS5. Think I'll probably skip it, too many other things to play so I'll never have the time to replay something that long.
Yeh not really a game to play all the way through again, maybe just load it up once in a while to enjoy the sceneries, i wouldnt get the upgrade if i were you.
What are people’s thoughts on death loop? I’m leaning to getting it on pc.
It’s great! I’m enjoying a rogue-lite and it’s got a good story and the clues you find around the world (documents, audio messages etc) actually feel valuable unlike other games.
It's great! It doesn't quite give the freedom that the ads show, but it's still a very fun ride.
I loved Deathloop, I thought it was a lot of fun especially if you enjoy being creative with gameplay in a sandbox type map.
I thought the ending was a little bit of a let down but I enjoyed it so much, I would replay it again.
Fyi I preordered Death stranding from Big W and with the issues with shipping and stuff I still havent recieved. It came out Sept 24.
I still stan Big W for all my gaming purchases and will promote their generally efficient service (got my ps5 from then in 48 hours in Jan!) But yeah manage expectations on when you will actually get the game.
Great price for new copies, but Death Loop in patricular I see on Facebook Marketplace for $50 and under, I guess because it's relatively short so many play and sell straight away? Thought worth mentioning, since most other PS5 games seem to be holding value such as Ratchet and Clank, and Returnal.
I always by single player story driven games used unless it's something I'm really looking forward to or a franchise I really love and can't wait.. Here in VIC in my area there are not many around but starting to see the price at $55-$60. I'm in no rush to play it, will probably pick up as soon as I can get one around me for $50. Never seen it for $50 or under yet though as you mentioned anywhere in Melbourne. I'm not even sure if its my type of game so really don't want to spend more than $50 lol.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is in a different price band. I bought it for $109 at release and the cheapest it has been since is $78.
I didn't think it was short at all. In fact, it was one of the longest story based single player games I've played in ages (if you're someone who likes trying to do everything in the game before completing it).
There is heeeeaps of content, with different variations/outcomes and lots of side stories etc.
But you might be right - I think you can rush through it pretty quickly.
Yet another reason why it's better to wait a couple of weeks before buying a new game.
Unless you're EXTREMELY excited for it, they always seem to go down in price a pretty decent amount shortly after launch in one sale or another.
