With a full Retina and IPS screen running in excess of Full HD, experience razor-sharp text and richer colours.

5MP iSight Camera

The camera has also been given a tuning. The sensor has been bumped up to 5MP and also features new optics, a backside illumination sensor, automatic white balance and face detection.

1080p video recording is also now an option, so you can capture every moment and keep it forever.

High Speed Wireless

Connect to your home or office Wi-Fi network and experience every piece of media the internet can offer!

Connect to Australian 3G data networks using DC-HSDPA technology - The new iPad can double your potential transfer rate, from 21.1Mbps to 42Mbps.

Unfortunately, The new iPad is currently not compatible with Telstra's 4G network. If Apple release a compatible model, we will be sure to stock it!

GST exempted if importation value under $1,000. Gerry can validate that.

You do not need to pay GST for items worth less than $1000 dollars. This price is exactly the same price as that in HongKong and you get worldwide warranty. It is definitely a good deal. Please do some research before you neg.

  • hmmm not a fan of pre-orders…time value of money

    • Well educated in finance!

    • We call it cashflow

    • also opportunity cost.

If it beats my 55 days interest free credit card bill, it really doesn't make any difference

wait for BigW prices on Monday.

    • Totally agree, big w, with wish card, and I have friends going overseas too, itll be cheaper and more reliable than kogan, I agree with the post about hk stock. There won't even be enough in the apple store of HK, there will be tonnes of canto and mainland scalpers there, I doubt kogan will have all the stock required and wait will be months i suspect.

    • is the AMEX Paypal promotion still running?

    • why may BigW prices be cheaper? any tips?

      • Last time they were.

        • how about jb hifi, HN, good guys?

    • Monday as in on the 12th? or 19th?

      • +1

        Seems like the 19th now.

  • That's cheap! I'm in CA and want the 32GB with 4G but have to fork out almost $800 -_-

If this is the new ipad 3, please add that to title and also if the imported model is there local Apple warranty or only through Kogan. Apple stated in a news report I watched that the ipad 3 will sell for same price as ipad 2 so expect the prices of previous generation ipads to plummet rapidly, if they haven't already.

    • it is in the title. the newest iPad is called the iPad. they are moving back to the unnumbered sustem they had for everything else (ie. macbook air, Macbook pro etc)

    • -3

are you just back from Mars? the new ipad is called NEW IPAD, NOT ipad 3. shocking to know you watched a news report stated by Apple, but still have no idea what you are talking about. before you give a lesson to someone else on how to write the title, make sure you are fully awake at least. saturday morning…

  • I'm not techy but I'll be in HK, Shanghai and Beijing in mid-April would it be any good to get one over there?

Any regional issues etc etc, other than the power socket…

    • From Apple stores in HK and mainland China in mid-April? Not a chance mate, stores will be empty.

  • So, why not let continuously incompatible Telstra -share- the blame with Apple:

eg, say "Telstra's 4G network is incompatible with the new iPad"

What, do vendor still fear Telstra's wrath?

  • I dont see any others selling iPad 3 (new iPad) in Aus, even apple store says pre-order. Does this mean Apple may not honor the warranty on these units becuase they were released before apple officially released them here? any thought guys?

    • It says 'presale' in the title.

  • Does anyone know Big W prices yet??

The following calculation is based on last year's Big W and Target pricing and is for reference only.

Based on last year's iPad 2 pricing, Big W and Target prices generally will be $20-$50 (depends on model) cheaper than RRP.

So I am betting that the following will be Big W/Target price for the New iPad.
    16GB Wi-Fi - $519 ($20 less RRP $539)
    32GB Wi-Fi - $629 ($20 less RRP $649)
    64GB Wi-Fi - $709 ($50 less RRP $759)
    16GB 4G/3G - $659 ($20 less RRP $679)
    32GB 4G/3G - $769 ($20 less RRP $789)
    64GB 4G/3G - $849 ($50 less RRP $899)

If you can buy Wish card or Coles Myer Group giftcard at 5% off,
    16GB Wi-Fi - $493.05 (vs $508 = Kogan price + $29 postage)
    32GB Wi-Fi - $597.55 (vs $598 = Kogan price + $29 postage)
    64GB Wi-Fi - $673.55 (vs $698 = Kogan price + $29 postage)
    16GB 4G/3G - $626.05 (vs $628 = Kogan price + $29 postage)
    32GB 4G/3G - $730.55 (vs $728 = Kogan price + $29 postage)
    64GB 4G/3G - $806.55 (vs $818 = Kogan price + $29 postage)

    If you claim GST back,
    16GB Wi-Fi - $445.87 (vs $508 = Kogan price + $29 postage)
    32GB Wi-Fi - $540.37 (vs $598 = Kogan price + $29 postage)
    64GB Wi-Fi - $609.10 (vs $698 = Kogan price + $29 postage)
    16GB 4G/3G - $566.14 (vs $628 = Kogan price + $29 postage)
    32GB 4G/3G - $660.64 (vs $728 = Kogan price + $29 postage)
    64GB 4G/3G - $729.37 (vs $818 = Kogan price + $29 postage)

Plus, we are dealing with Australian stock with better refund policy and faster (walk in and buy) and Australian plug.

    • Just in case someone might be wondering how price less GST is calculated…

$519, the money you pay to Big W
      GST component is $519 / 11 = $47.12

If you can get giftcard @ 5% off, what you really pay to Big W is $519 - 5% = $493.05

      After you claim back GST $47.12, you really pay $493.05 - $47.12 = $445.87

How do you get wish gift card at 5% off?

        • This. I have been wondering for ages

      • This may be a noob question as I've only lived here for 2 years but how is everyone hear talking about claiming gst back? I'd assume most of you are Aussie citizens living here full time. How would you go about it? Thanks.

        • If you buy it for your company (so-called "for business purposes"), if you go overseas… you may claim it back. Otherwise no.

Someone at the whirlpool forum wrote
"These are the current prices of the new iPad at BIGW.

      16gb WIFI $498
      32gb WIFI $628
      64gb WIFI $748
      16gb WIFI + 4G $668
      32gb WIFI + 4G $778
      64gb WIFI + 4G $858

Ive been told stock will be very limited at launch."

      • Doesnt seem rational to me…

      • anyone checked the pricing at Big W?

  • 3k+ clicks. I wonder how many people ordered and how many people will get their ipad before Easter from Kogan…

  • FYI: my pre-order from apple website
    Date Time Location Status
10 Mar 2012 22:23:35 Hong Kong Shipment Received At Transit Point.
10 Mar 2012 19:05:00 Shenzhen Shipment In Transit.
10 Mar 2012 18:56:40 Shenzhen Shipment In Transit.
10 Mar 2012 17:01:24 Shenzhen Shipment Collected From Sender.

  • Gerry who ??

  • good price

  • So did anyone even buy one from Kogan? lol.

I received my 64GB/"4G" New Ipad 26th April 2012… one MONTH after it was originally slated to be shipped!

Here's some info for those who haven't already found out:

      a) Walk-in-to-Apple-Genius-Bar-and-get-straight-swapover-for-hardware-fault-other-than-DOA - covered for 12 months of purchase/registration date.

      b) the "Send back to Apple HK" applies only to devices with mobile phone communication components, ie iphones. "3G" mobile internet is not classified the same way.

      c) I was only able to get this information from a senior Apple support manager/advisor - several instore and onphone Apple support personnel could not confirm this earlier, nor could 3 of Kogan employees that I spoke with.

      d) My ipad shipped with an AU power plug as a free additional extra included.

So in short, if you were happy to
wait the extra long time, you will get a fully locally supported Apple device for slightly cheaper, that being:

      Kogan = 789+29 = 818
      vs
      Apple = 899

      Hope this helps.
