  • Is this any better than one from Wii?

    • +1

I haven't played it personally, but from my memories of the reviews I watched, I think they added some QoL changes to it. I specifically remember there were dialogues that you couldn't skip/kept coming up in the original Wii version.

    • +2

Quite a few improvements including graphics and frame rate. Read the differences here: https://www.nintendolife.com/guides/zelda-skyward-sword-hd-d…

    • +2

It is much better. Constant 60 FPS and HD res, and Fi isn't annoying you constantly. Definitely worth playing if you're a Zelda fan.

    • yes, you can control the sword with the right joystick

    • +1

      Overall yes.
Quite a good number of QOL improvements that really help improve the flow of the game. There is however a large quantity of dialogue/cutscenes that remain unskippable for some reason, but overall it's improved enough to not be grating.

The only problem with this rerelease is it's way too expensive for what it is, so much so that it can be $10 more than THE ORIGINAL WII RELEASE. Unless you're a diehard Zelda fan i'd recommend waiting for it to go below $45

Got the Skyward joycon. Will pass the game, does not feel for me.

    • +3

It's the only one I haven't played as I hated the Wii, I planned on playing it on switch but after watching my kids play it I decided I wasn't missing much. It looked so janky.

      • +4

I'm playing it at the moment on the train in handheld mode, it's awkward, don't like the controls.

      • +1

Same case. But I like the joycon.

  • +2

    This wii version was awesome

    I loved the motion controls

  • +1

I never played this on Wii and have finished every other one. Just got through it, enjoyed the storytelling and motion controls, done of the characters annoyed the crap out of me though

  • Just picked this up on Gumtree for $40. Looking forward to getting into it over long weekend.

Great game. Using the detached joy cons, the pro controller is really not suitable for this game.

I’m glad I skipped this on the Wii so I can enjoy it in 60fps 1080p now.

BOTW was great but I missed the classic dungeons. Bosses are also good fun in Skyward Sword.

  • +1

lmao. I still haven't played my copy :/

    • +2

Same here. I also have Hyrule Warriors and some others on PS+ to play. Am I crazy for wanting to buy the 13 sentinels bargain? What's the most games one can accumulate without playing?

      • +1

I'm up to about 3000-4000 so far that i havent played, so yeah, a lot lol

        • Holy Moly and here I thought having 500 Switch, PS4, PS3 backlog was a lot.
Can't help buying cheap games eh? lol

  • +2

I’ll pass. Rather just wait for BOTW2

  • +3

I hated this game so much on Wii but recently decided to give it another go with this version and I'm so glad I did. Much better gameplay, Fi isn't annoying and the controllers actually work the way you want them to.

    • +1

Thanks for the review, after Twilight Princess this was such a let down on Wii. It felt like the whole game was a tutorial, made to be obvious and easy with Fi telling you what to do every 2 seconds and some clanky play. The story, maps, features, minigames etc. I thought were all really good and very enjoyable, just let down by the gameplay.

Might actully give it a re-visit based on this, thanks.

  • Bought it for 40 bucks on Gumtree. Haven't received my new OLED yet so still waiting to play all the second hand games I bought lol

  • +1

Really didn't enjoy the Wii Motion Plus controls for the original game, but maybe this will be better?
