  Nice deal - unfortunately I have retail boxed versions of most of the expansions and the base game

  These cannot be registered with Steam.

  Can I buy expansions on Steam then install them with retail boxed versions using EA Origin?

  Answer to my question - YES, but only if you have bought The Sims 3 base game on Steam too…

  Which is a pain in the butt…

  High end loft stuff is $10 at the EA store right now if you, like me, have the boxed versions of The Sims 3 and therefore can't combine those with Steam…

  You CAN use keys purchased via Steam on Origin, but not the other way around.

  Unfortunately to buy the expansions for The Sims 3 on Steam (to then port to Origin) you must also have bought the base game on Steam because otherwise Steam won't allow you to buy the expansions…

    Not much you can do about that unfortunately :( Blame EA for always demanding full crazy RRPs for aussie gamers on Steam

    Also you can buy Sims 3 boxed for $29.90 at BigW this week

    I was waiting for someone to post this… region pricing is a rip off how can something be considered a bargain if they are paying MUCH less over seas… sims 3 even appears in top rip offs on steam prices…

    You can get the Origin codes from Amazon.com's digital game service - at the US price with 66% off.

    Just make sure you put in a legitimate US billing address. I use a hotel in Portland, Oregon (no sales tax).

    You can also use the codes from Steam to activate the Sims 3 + expansions on Origin.
