For well-designed devices, AA NiMH batteries will work well. Unfortunately, most devices, particularly ones that use C sized batteries, the mentioned adapters will not work because the devices will stop working at about 1.25 V (cheap devices and toys <$200 will normally operate between the range of 1.25V and 1.55V). This means that they will operate on alkaline batteries but only for about half their capacity (yep, you're throwing out batteries that still have 50% juice). Since rechargeable NiMH batteries maintain 1.2V most equipment/devices don't work at all.

      • Works well enough for all my use cases like clocks but there's nothing stopping you from putting in 1.5 v throw away AA alkalines in either.

Just putting another option out there

Edit: also if there's anyone else like our household that predominantly have AA powered devices and have a heap of batteries stashed, those could be used instead.

Why does the packaging have a bunny on it when the bunny is the Energizer mascot?

    • i reckon it has always been the Duracell bunny?

      • The Energizer bunny was introduced in 1988 to replace Mark "Jacko" Jackson.

    • Only in the US and Canada. Duracell in the rest of the world. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duracell_Bunny

  • I found in recent years that my Duracell purchases from Costco were more leak prone so my last few bulk purchases have been Eveready. I had considered trying the Costco Kirkland own brand but they are apparently made by Duracell so I don't see how they would be better on the leakage side.
