Bad TV, Bad Size, Bad Price.

    • +6

What's bad about them? There isn't much on OzB about it (and the reviews for the bigger TV's aren't negative)? Additionally, this post will serve as a price point (and your comments to educate others, including myself).

Size is because I'm using it as a monitor primarily so can't go much bigger. So far, it looks good for what I'm using it for (external monitor + ps5)

      • Is this good colour for monitor? For trading?

        • +1

Seems to be for what I'm doing, which is mainly text. I'm no perfectionist by any means which is why I wanted more information about what's bad. Saying that, pointing out problems might make me unable to unsee them :D

I'm using 3200x1800, as I want to be able to still read things from ~2m away when required. So far, everything has been crisp and looks better than my quite old 27" Dell IPS (but again, could be my eyes wanting to see what I tell them too!).

          • @rompastompa: I was put off buying this as a monitor as I read a report on reddit about running this at 4k 120hz it causes weird checkerboard pattern and looks bad. do you reckon you could try this and see if it does it on your tv?

            • +1

@eggymelon: I'll try and get some time to have a play with it tomorrow. At the moment, I'm running PS5 @ 4k 120hz, and Macbook Pro 4k @ 60hz and it looks great to me.

I initially started with the 'wizard' to use 4k 120hz, but showed a black screen so went to 60hz. Likely to do with the free (skido's deal I think) cable I used ;) I'll test with the PS5 cable when I get a chance.

            • @eggymelon: I've read the issues (black screens, etc) are related to HDMI 2.1 not specific devices.

            • +1

@eggymelon: I couldn't get it to run 4k @ 120hz. I'm using a USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter which only can handle 4k @ 60hz, so unfortunately cannot test it.

    • Reasoning please. I'd been looking at this system as a monitor because of the HDMI 2.1 and future firmware updates will contain Sony's advanced gaming features, it would replace the 43" I currently use on one of my gaming PC's. This is a good price, last I saw it was about $1800.
I decided to hold till I get a new GPU as any changes would be wasted on my 2080 Supe.

      • FWIW the going price for this model has been $1395 lately. I've been watching it for a month or so.

Seems expensive for a 43inch screen when you can get the new Samsung for $800 with ultra flat screen

    • I was looking at that, but figured I'd pay extra for HDMI 2.1 "future proofing" (and not like I'd probably see the difference, running PS5 @ 120fps).

      • +1

Ah sick, so this has HDMI 2.1, Was going to start searching for that info. I want it for my PS5 in the office. Anything bigger than 43" is overkill for in there.

    • Which one? Name?

  • The 65inch x90j is about 2k, this should be 700 at best

  • +1

Im always very confused about TV motion rates. Monitors are easy, 60hz,75hz,144hz,165hz,240hz, etc..

Whats with motion 200hz? Can it do a full 120hz 4k output off a ps5 over hdmi 2.1 or not?

    • This site claims it's a 120hz panel and has two HDMI 2.1 ports, so it should be able to. But I always take 43" specs with a grain of salt as it's often a completely different TV to the larger siblings (e.g. with Samsung The Frame models). If this really is a 120hz 43" panel it's the first one I'm aware of…

      • Seems OK price for 4k 120fps panel! Even if it's not fancy oled

  • Is this the VA panel? How is the viewing angle off axis, is it as bad as the X90H? I had a very hard time with that tv.

  • Expensive for 43" but +1 for 4k 120fps

  • Few here get the OLED LG C1 48 inch.

But of course that's double the price of this deal (approx $2K few weeks back at TGGs).

Well worth it for OLED though. There are some that even use 55 inch as a monitor and few videos of people on YouTube with this setup in their office

    • +2

Yes, been waiting for LG to release a 43inch OLED version

  • Frame dimming?

    AKA edge lit?

Seems expensive for a non-FALD panel.

    • What would you recommend instead?
