Philips X-Tremevision Pro150 H4 (Twin) Halogen Bulb $32.72 Delivered @ Power Bulbs

120
Power20

Previous deal (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/650992) I posted for racing vision is out of stock but these globes seem to be very good as well.

They have a longer lifespan compared to racing vision. Color temperature seems to be around the same as well. Great price considering their prices locally!

  • Is the lifespan usually longer or shorter than halogen lights?

    • +1

These are halogen as well. But since they are high performance, have a shorter life span compared to standard halogen lamps.

    • +1

Standard halogens have about 2000hrs and these are about 600 hours. Compare that to led which are about 25000 hours!

      • Thanks mate. Much appreciated

      • is there a way to go from halogen to LED?

    • It is halogen.
If you want a longer life one Philips do make such a model.

  • Shop at Powerbulbs only if you can wait for 2 months for your order to be delivered with a strong possibility of not getting it delivered at all and the best they will do is refund you the money after 2 months. No regard to customer service what so ever.

    • I recommended Powerbulbs to a friend and their order took 21 days total (including weekends, etc).

      • No problems with me either.

    • +1

Customer service is great. Had a bulb that died just within the 12 month warranty, they sent a replacement quickly and arrived in less than one week.

    • +1

That's not been my experience. Usually 2 weeks, 3 max.

    • That has not been my experience at all. I must have ordered from them about 5 times now, over a number of years. My most recent order was Philips LED bulbs, which got delivered within a week by express (in the middle of lockdowns everywhere). Apart from that, I normally get my Halogen bulbs in about 2-3 weeks.

Paid $25 2 years ago and I have these installed 6 months ago. Working really well.

Previously I used Philips POWER2NIGHT. Nowhere near as bright as the LED lights and cheaper too.

      They're not legal though.

      • Why are they not legal?

      • Doesn't say it's illegal in Victoria.https://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/safety-and-road-rules/vehicle-safety/fog-and-driving-lights

Where did you obtain your information from?

2000W 3680000LM?? Yeah, right. BS numbers aside, check the regulations before fitting these to your car, chances are they're illegal.

        Yes, it's exaggerated.
I didn't buy it from the same seller but they look similar to the ones I have.

Don't think it's a problem installed these as I've run passed a few squad cars and i've seen many European stock LED headlights that are as bright as mine if not brighter.

        • +1

It's not so much the brightness that's an issue, but the fact that the original headlight design (reflector, lens, cooling/ventilation, wiring etc) wasn't meant for LED lights.

@LoungeLizard: The problem with the eBay one is no cut off or cup over the light like the original halogen bulb would have had.

Better LEDs have these. Look up Stedi H4 and you'll see what I'm talking about. In their ones, there's not multiple light sources from all angles but more trying to simulate the exact location of where the filament would be plus the cutoff.

            • @placard: Philips Ultinon have this too, making them safe and ensuring they don't blind anyone. It's the dodgy ones that are a nightmare for other road users.

As for retrofit being illegal across the board: with so many stock LED's around that are often worse than some retrofit ones, and police clearly not caring, I am not so fussed nowadays.

              • @Make it so: Totally agree. If you buy the shielded ones they are engineered to be the same as halogen in terms of the cut off 'cup' thing at the bottom of the H4. The other thing is LEDs are only in one section similar to where the halogen filament would be. Look at the ebay one it has led chips on all sides - how on earth will the reflector housing deal with that!!

The reflector housing needs the light to be in the exact spot the halogen filament would be.

And I agree - the amount of new cars (especially utes) with factory LEDs that are blinding, shining high right through the rear windows of the car in front, means if they pass the so called ADR, then properly engineered aftermarket ones should be fine - just that no one has gone the step to certify them.

    • Does this have a fan?
I bought some LED on aliexpress, and the fans sound like a jet engine taking off.

    • It says they are both Philips and Osram COB chips. They can't seem to decide which.

  • It's not about brightness, it's the control of the light pattern. I don't think it's as much an issue on high beams though.

  • Pity the H11 version isn't at a reasonable price. <$50 for a single before applying the discount :(

  • my last order in August took 18 days so not too bad. they don't seem to ship any bulbs from their Sydney warehouse like they used to
