I too have 980P as my primary, a 970 Evo+ as secondary and a Crucial MX500 as backup drive. I try to not spend $$ on secondary SSD simply because by the time I upgrade, newer and greater SSD tech will be out so I roll my primary SSD to be secondary SSD of my new rig. If you really want a secondary M2 SSD, wait for Samsung to have cashback and get a 980.
Good point.
But you said you dont spend $$ on secondary M2 but then say I should get a 980? Arent the 980's like some of the best/most $$ on the market right now?I meant if you really want to. 980 is $$ but also the fastest PCIE gen 3 (if not fastest, has to be top 3). So, depends how much you want to spend really. If budget, get Kingston A2000, mid range maybe WD Blue SN550. The difference is like $20-40 bucks.
@AlgoTrading: Ah okay, I see what you mean.
I do like what you said in your first comment. I think since this secondary will probably be replaced my current primary, I won't spend too much. Might have a look at the WD Blue ones. Thanks for the advice!@JoKing: In my rig I just built I have a 500GB WD BLACK 750SE in my gen4 slot and a 1TB WD BLUE SN550 in my Gen3 slot, they are good drives and not too pricey. I spent like $250 for both,
That 16GB kit of RAM any good?
tried to buy the 32 GB RAM kit, but they didn't approve it. will this affect my credit score ?
ended up using paypal for $10 more, time to hand over OzB membership
Does anyone have some advice around getting a secondary M.2 SSD for gaming rig?
I think my motherboard restricts the second drive to only PCIe 3, whereas my primary works on PCIe 4.
I currently have a Samsung 980 Pro as primary - wondering what I should be looking at for my secondary?
