Mint ProTools RO Polisher Kit $219.99 (Was $279.99) Free Delivery @ CarCareProducts

130

This kit comes with a great Dual Action (DA) Polisher, which is relatively quiet and very efficient.
Equipped with 2 sizes of backing plates so you can use smaller ones on more filddly areas of your car or whatever you're polishing or buffing.
I also has a detachable front handle which makes using it easier (IMHO) but you can obviously remove if you don't want to use it.

The package comes with:

  • Mint ProTools RO Polisher (DAS6-V2) - has a 600W motor combined with the 8mm orbit and a variable 6-speed controller
  • 2 x backing plates (150/75mm) (ie. 3 & 5 inch)
  • 3 x 150mm polishing pads (different grades)
  • 3 x 250ml bottles of polishing liquid (different grades)
  • Cleaning brush (to clean the gunk out of the pads as you go)
  • Bag to hold all the above stuff

Other kits are available on the same site which include different brands of pads and compounds, or a more "Pro" version of the polisher with a more powerful mother - all with varying prices of course.
All kits can be seen here: https://www.carcareproducts.com.au/shop-by-category/polishin…

I bought one from these guys and the delivery was very quick and efficient.

  • Great deal and great product.

    • Have you got this product? How often do you use it?

      • I bought a similar set couple of years back in bit more expensive brand.
Did half the car and had enough.
You need to wash and clay for preparation. Then you need to cut it gradually. I only did medium and fine. So you need to do each panel 2 times. If you start with hard, thats 3 time a panel. Followed by waxing and polishing.
Great if you have plenty of spare time, not married and no kids. :)

        • I know how to detail. I'm asking specifically on performance/reliability of the machine.

Fyi waxing and polishing is the other way around. Waxing is the last step to seal correction

        • should be a full day's work. 1-2 hours in the morning for a good wash. Drying 30 mins, then magma decontamination and claybar another 2 hours. Takes you to after lunch time. How long to then do three passes for each panel? You could probably get away with 1-2 passes for that day (if you park outside, then a light rinse the next morning) then the final pass the next day?

I've got a wife and kids, that's easily permissible ;)

      • For full detail, once probably every 18-24 months per car. Had it for about 5 years, so guessing maybe used it 6 times. No issues.

  • Not a bad price for what it is. Will need more pads, but the ability to mount a 3" backing plate makes it the only machine a DIY-er would reasonably need.

    • I'm interested in this due to 3" backing plate. But looking towards the apex grasshopper 2.0.

I've previously used an apex sensei plus, which felt very similar to rupes mkii.

      • The only reason why I haven't done bought a 3" machine is because I want to keep my kit minimal. I have the Karate Kid V1, and just got a nano polisher from China in the mail yesterday.

        • +1

Can U post link of nano polisher U got

    • thinking about one of the Pro bundles. Would you know which compound/polish combo is bet for light swirls? My car is in reasonably good condition.

      • Meguiar's polishing pad and mirror glaze 7/9 should do the trick.

Depends on the swirl marks, if very faint 7 if throughout paint work 9

      • If it were me, I would get the DAS-6 machine, Scholl S20 and Meguiar's microfibre pads (cutting, finishing or both) and start with that.

        • thanks. I'm still thinking about the DeWalt brushless 18V one as well.

        • That's what I use s20 with purple spider pad. I use as a one step on all the cars I do, that's more to fix defects in paint and not so much to remove swirl marks. But it will remove the swirls

      • All cars have different paint, some softer, some harder. Usually have to experiment a bit and see how many passes are needed

    $164.99 on ebay same store

Also is this a DA as in forced rotation with orbit ?

    Cheers

    • Doesn't come with any polishing pads or any compounds - so you'll have to buy them separately.
Given how close the prices would be after you do that (prob. the same) I'd prefer to support an Aust. business directly, rather than subsidise eBay.

    • The DAS-6 is a free-spinning DA and not a forced-rotation. Generally all of the cheaper entry-level machines are free-spinning.

  • 600W motor combined with the 8mm orbit

Pretty underpowered and 15mm throw would be better. In my experience 750W + makes life easier.

  • comparing to this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/650627
    Which one is better?

  • Love their Mint snow foam product, the only choice for me after testing around 5 different similar products.
