    Normally around $20-$22

About 20-25MB/s write using USB-A and USB-C side

It's a great usb, but the 64gb and below is absolutely terrible value per GB. Any of the higher capacity has increasingly better value per GB.

It is pretty solid, much better than the more finnicky pop up dual usb's that sandisk usually makes. Definitely something i see myself hanging on for a long time

    • thanks. I cancelled 64 GB and ordered 128 GB which is only 10 bucks more.

    • But what do you use said higher capacity USBs for? They're slow and unreliable compared to portable SSDs for large file transfers and long-term storage. I'd rather use an SSD for any job requiring more than 100 GB, so for me the sweet spot still lies between 32 and 64 GB for quick and dirty file transfers regardless of price/GB.

      • To store work/personal stuff on my keychain. I can't exactly dangle a portable ssd on my keyring, these are very small and compact.

My laptop unfortunately only has usb-c ports. It's great to not have to carry a dongle around just in case I want something transferred to my laptop from or to something that has usb a. Also has the added benefit of being able to dump stuff from my phone to free up space or transfer to my computer if I need to.

I got a 2tb portable ssd from this deal

But definitely ended up using this a lot more. Definitely, that could do everything this does but better, but it is a lot bigger compared to this + the usb c to usb a and usb c to c that you would have to carry around

The speed isn't the best, but good enough. 40-50mb/s write, then throttles down to 25-30mb/s. Read is very good at 130-150mb/s. Not sure what you mean by it being unreliable.

Don't know about you, but on a personal usb i'm rarely transferring files over 5gb at a time

        • The portability point makes sense, especially if you need to carry your files on you at all times.

My comment on reliability is the susceptibility of USB drives to degradation and random failures. They use pretty poor flash memory and have very limited write cycles. I certainly wouldn't want to be backing up all my important files on one.

I bought one of these recently for work and the file transfers are really quick. Did a couple of GB in a matter of seconds over a SS USB port. The USB-C connector is handy for connecting to my phone to transfer to PC files downloaded on my phone when I'm out on the go or when the USB A ports on my laptop are taken up by work provided peripherals.

Part of me is very angry that this isn't sorted by Capacity.

…….but it was in escalating price order. Can't win them all lol.

        • +1

*escalating price per GB order .

Now it's in escalating price (and, naturally) capacity order.

  • It's been around this price with third-party amazon sellers before but shipping is slow. Note, 20 Sept for this one - which might be fine if you're not in a hurry or expecting the usual 'Amazon as a seller,' speeds.

  • Bought a black 128Gb thanks OP

    • The (black) Ultra Dual Drive Go is likely plastic.

As only the Luxe touts all-metal housing.

      These are cute thumbdrives alright!

I'm using them for boot drives formatted with Ventoy; so no problems with raw access for partitioning and all that.

      • +2

I saw that, won't be throwing it around so plastic should be ok. Won't scratch up my things when mixed with items in the bag.

So all in all, I prefer plastic :)

They've hiked up the prices on Amazon. Their website memoski.com has the 128GB for $26.49 delivered :)
