any good deals on a 5-7kg washing machine? Preferably sub $400.00

    • Agreed - any front or top loader specials. Even more than 7kg for me would be good.

      • the best i could find at the moment is from pricepirate, but still holding out for something like the one for ALDI a while back for $350.

        • Don't get me started on the experience we had with that dryer!!
Suffice to say it is in a better place now…

    • We don't currently have anything under $400 the closest we have is this Samsung Front Loader ($449) http://www.appliancesdirectonline.com.au/virtuemart/samsung-… & this Fisher & Paykel Top Loader ($443) http://www.appliancesdirectonline.com.au/virtuemart/fisher-p…

    • worth checking at 2nds World store (if u have near u). They generally have ones with maybe a dent on the top or sides discounted well.

And whatever model u get, pls check for water and energy ratings… the running costs for a year can vary a lot.

Perfect timing, just ordered. 1 star energy rating is not too hot, but about par for the course!

Being a dryer I would think you want it to be very hot!

    What's a manual dryer?

    • I also have the same question

Manual refers to the controls which is a timer wheel that you turn as opposed to having an LCD display with pre-set functions.

I am a bit scared about product knowledge when I read that reply.

A Manual drier is one where you manually set the time, as opposed to a Sensing drier which automatically detects the moisture content.

    • I think it means you need to set a time, rather than it stops automatically when your clothes are dry.

  • The problem with any manual drier is that you have to "guess" how long to run it… and unless you want wet clothes you need to keep opening it to check or to over-estimate and waste heaps of power (and make your clothes all over-dried which destroys the elastic in undies, etc).

I'd never buy a manual drier, they are just plain nasty. You'd be MUCH better off buying this Electrolux 5kg Sensor from this Rep…

    http://www.appliancesdirectonline.com.au/virtuemart/electrol…

Yeah it's $100 extra, but a much nicer piece of equipment. And you'd probably save that $100 in a year or so of power savings.

  • I have one these:

    http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/p/mistral-4kg-tumble-dryer/

which does the job perfectly well. Its compact and great for my apartment. They sell them at BigW for slightly more if you don't want to wait.
