wow, i booked my tix for the above period a month ago using my frequent flyer points and tax alone cost me $400. Frequent flyer points don't seem as good a deal now.

    • Yeah they have been watered down to useless

  • +2

Too bad 7xx fare from Perth Only.

    It's Cathay not Cathy ;)

    • maybe thats why its cheap :p

      What are you on about??

      Its CX!

Anyone negging my comment needs to help learning their airline codes!

        • some people don't understand airline code unless they're at the airport looking at the flight departure board searching for their flight number lol

        • And even so they might see a different code due to code sharing. But yeah, I don't understand why the negs, there was nothing offensive in his post.

Maybe all the flight attendants are named Cathy. :)

It is normal price if you ring your agency.

Plugged in some random dates and Qantas comes out cheaper when flying MEL - HKG

    E.g. Depart 09/05/2011 - Arrive back 23/05/2011

    Cathay - $967
    Qantas - $885

Go with AirAsia to KL then fly to HK for $70 one way

      but not from Sydney.

      • -1

Syd to KL with AirAsia then transfer to HK…

unless you mean direct from Syd to HK then no

        • KL is pretty decent to visit.

i recently flew with airasia to HK and stopped over in KL for 2 nights and there is a fair bit to do. good night life and good shopping etc with fairly cheap 4 star hotels.

not as hygenic and scenic as SG, but still a very nice place to visit.

    • but need to stay in KL overnight, no flight to HK from KL after arrival from Sydney.

      • LCC Terminal at KL to a hotel in KL city approx AU$7.00 (traveling time around 1hr10m-1hr30min depending on traffic)
A reasonable priced hotel approx $30-45
Or Tune Hotel at LCCT you may get for $30-it's rarely discounted below this and what a wonderful city KL is.
        Good option for you

KL worth visiting? Is it on par with SG?

        • Unlike SG, KL is not a "fine" city. :)

Too bad it's during Uni time and not sure when exam finishes!

  • Fantastic price for cathay pacific! Great food and service.

Although cathay has shit seats (economy). Their seats do not recline, instead they slide downwards. It will be unpleasant and downright uncomfortable for anyone over 1.6m tall. Poor business decision when fitting their fleet.

    • Completely agree on the comment above. The seats are not all that great in economy class.

    • Their refurbishing their planes at the moment. The new seats do recline.

  • Seats are not very pleasant, but can't fault the inflight entertainment

sorry, but this isnt even cheap. $900+ for anywhere to china except perth.

  • Good deal for Perth and flights available when checked - thanks!

    • Have to give this an extra thumbs up as I booked it and then needed to change the flight dates (nob head moment of not checking my dates). I logged in and was able to change my flight dates/times and they didn't charge me any extra for it. I am not sure if they is any other airline that would do that on a super duper fair deal!!!!

  • Congratulation on your 1st post. Keep the good deal coming!
CX seat is tight. With One thing in mind when designing the cabin, ie for the
    Tightass.

  • Are you serious! Great service on Cathay Pacific. I flew with them last November to the UK. A$2350 return airfare. Certainly not the cheapest. 2.5hours to get served a meal and a drink is not good service. Having to constantly buzz for service, is not good service. The trip back was marginally better. Don't get me started on the seats. Just like your own little clam shell…… more like just like your own pain barrier shell. Uncomfortable - an understatement!
Singapore airlines are way and above the best airline I have ever flown with.

  • is this priced for return ticket?
