[PC, Steam] 91% off - Sid Meier's Civilization VI: Platinum Edition $20.78 (Was $239.79) @ Steam

930

Not as cheap as this deal from a while back, but still a great price for a great game. Sid Meier's Civilization VI : Platinum Edition is currently 91% off, at $20.78. A very fun and interesting game, highly reccomend.

Sid Meier’s Civilization VI: Platinum Edition is the perfect entry point for PC gamers who have yet to experience the addictive gameplay that has made Civilization one of the greatest game series of all time. The package includes Sid Meier's Civilization VI, six DLC packs as well as the Rise and Fall and Gathering Storm expansions.

Originally created by legendary game designer Sid Meier, Civilization is a turn-based strategy game in which you attempt to build an empire to stand the test of time. Explore a new land, research technology, conquer your enemies, and go head-to-head with history’s most renowned leaders as you attempt to build the greatest civilization the world has ever known.

Civilization VI offers new ways to engage with your world: cities now physically expand across the map, active research in technology and culture unlocks new potential, and competing leaders will pursue their own agendas based on their historical traits as you race for one of five ways to achieve victory in the game.

  • Good game. Not a bad price.

To confirm, this doesn't include all the DLC that's been released for Civ VI right?

      https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/21432/Sid_Meiers_Civil…

Civilization VI Anthology is the one that comes with all DLC including the New Frontier Pass. Anthology is currently on sale as well down to $43.68.

      • +1

Thanks for this info. Saved me researching it :). Can't wait for uni holidays, gonna buy and play Civ VI Anthology!

        • +1

          halfway there mate

      • +1

Is Anthology worth the extra $23 over the Platinum edition? I see the extras are about 8 additional packs and the New Frontier Pass. What is the pass and what are these packs? I haven't played anything from the franchise since playing Civilization II!

      • It shows A$ 38.28, is that USD devalue already ?

  • +1

Cost $14.34 for me as I have the base game and one of the dlc.

  • +22

I have to ask - Is there a knob on the planet who has paid $239.79 for this?

    • +6

If you are a fan and get the base game + expansion packs as soon as they come out , it will be as much as $200+ . I always wait until they are heavily discounted :)

      autism's a hell of a drug

  • For non-hard core civ players, nothing beats a free copy of civ 6 base game.

    • I think that's it. Once you are hooked on the game you can't not be hardcore

      • +3

I was a player back from civ 2 onward

I find the later ones too complicated, too many things to micromanage

    • +1

Even casually, this DLC makes the experience a LOT more fun and dynamic versus base game. New Frontier not as crucial

  • anyone knows where to get the New Frontier Pass cheaper? already have Platinum Edition but the DLC costs double.

    • +1

      CDKeys has it for $30

    • If you already have Platinum, get the Anthology for A$25.20.

  • +2

If you like strategy and turn-based games, this is the best you can get.

  • +7

I wanted to like civ6, but I still play 5 to this day.

    • +2

What was it that put you off from Civ 6, and what was it that made Civ 5 better? I've really only ever played Civ 4 - loved that game to bits

      • +3

Same, loved 4, never got into 5, haven't tried 6.

      • +4

It feels overly complicated compared to 5.
I have tried to pick it up again recently and just can't get into it.
I know Civ V inside and out and still play it occasionally

        • Thanks for the info. Still might give it a shot, I do like complex games :)

        • I think it's the mid - late game that sucks, I found that there was a lot more political / diplomacy related micromanagement which I found to be a bit tedious…

I also prefer 5 and have around a hundred or so hours on it

    • +4

      ditto!

      Loved #3 - hated #4 - loved #5 - hated #6.
      (yes im old)

      • Um, add Loved #1 and #Loved 2. I’m older…

  • Anyone who has played both V and VI, is it worth getting? I've had V and played that for a while - really enjoyed the early-mid game, but once it gets to the stage of gunpowder I almost always lose interest.

    • +2

I find all Civ games from II onwards a boring grind or seemingly pointless phase of the game unless you are trying to finish it in a specific way.

    • +5

I'd recommend you play Civ V over Civ VI. Don't get me wrong, Civ VI was interesting especially after they introduced some of the "nature disasters" but even with almost all the DLC I still found myself kicking back to Civ V - have buyers remorse.
Personally I'd recommend buying and trying once Civ VII comes out and it's supa cheap with all the content. I've been playing Humankind and would rank it well above Civ VI.

      • +1

Appreciate your thoughts - just having a look at Humankind now and it looks really interesting, might have to check it out!

  • Also discounted on the 2k games store for anybody who bought the base game on epic games store (or got it free) and wants an upgrade…

    New frontier pass is 29.97
    Anthology upgrade is 34.97

  • +1

Rise and Fall is reduced from $39.95 to $13.18 for the sale, dropped again to $5.93 for the Bundle sale.

  • +2

Does this game still take ages for all the other Civs to "take their turns" once you've been playing for a while?

I've got the base game on Epic and most of the others on Steam but the only one I ever really spend a lot of time on is "FreeCiv" http://www.freeciv.org/

Basically an opensource version of Civ2

  • +2

The cartoony updates lost me on Civ 5 & 6.
    Loved Civ 3 to death.

    • I played a lot of Civ III in high school.

  • One game of civ 6 and your day is done

  • It shows $14,71 for me !

  • For those who already have the Platinum Edition but no New Frontier Pass it might be cheaper to get the Anthology Edition for $25.20 than NFP on its own.
