+1 on this. maybe if it was an ips it would be worth it.
good deal for those looking for this specific display. 🙂
IPS is not the best either, bad black level and poor contrast.
Yes but black smearing on VA panels make them almost unusable in dark scenes while gaming, or even browsing online in dark mode.
VA darkens and brightens up in dark scenes. I'd rather have a wider range of colours and uniform lighting even if there is less contrast.
@sp3ctr41: The link you shared compares two specific monitors and is not broadly representative of IPS vs VA panels.

That's simply not true, dark scenes generally look great on VA panels due to the high contrast and absence of IPS glow. IPS glow can absolutely ruin dark scenes.
I'd rather have a wider range of colours and uniform lighting even if there is less contrast.
IPS does not guarantee good uniformity, in fact some are particularly bad in this regard. As for colour, both the S2721DGF I have atm and the AW3418DW I owned previously have an undeniably "bluer" and "redder" side of the screen (particularly noticeable in bottom corners). Also on both, the bottom left corner glows like a m-fer unless you're looking at that corner from directly in front of it (i.e. off-center). Wider viewing angles can be great but what good do they do when the IPS glow restricts the range of usable angles regardless?
TL;DR - seeing more smearing of VA on OzBargain than on my actual VA monitor, it's not as simple as IPS > VA.

We can't go back, was a lot cheaper before.
Still waiting for this sort of deal to return
Dealbot please save us
Waiting for the 495$ tag …
Bought this on the last deal on 17th August for same price, as needed an upgrade asap & hit the budget. Shipping from Dell was super quick, except StarTrack then took 2 weeks for it to sit in the local depot & needed to raise a ticket on it.
As for the monitor itself and it's performance, it's ok for this price, but not a bargain. Can anyone recommend a budget 27 or 32" 1080p screen?
Its for my parents, whos eyes are both not great.
I want "big" for them. There used to be a few VA's around $170 but I cant recall the brand.
See any here
Reminder to use the 7% discount code to stack it to $585, which is still $85 more then lowest but more palatable especially since dealbot indicated unlikely to return to that level.
Look up dell student codes or go to request thread:
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/635113They look to have expired
They are unique student coupons that you have to claim either as a student: https://webapp.dell.epsilon.com/APJ/UCVM/Coupons/Register/al…
or through one of those classifieds that i linked earlier.
Not that great. Sorry
This just cannot compete with the king of VA's, the oddysey g7 (but then again it is more expensive)
The G7 was on special for $800 a few months ago. Definitely better off spending the extra $200 over this rubbish. I paid full price for the G7 when it came out and even so I have no regrets. It's just an amazing gaming monitor.
Vesa 400… might as well not have it on there because that rating means absolutely nothing.
It's not a rating? It's a mounting size - VESA standard mounts 400mm x 400mm.
Please do research before you comment. VESA mounts are 100x100 on monitors, sometimes 75x75. 400 would exceed the height of this monitor.
VESA HDR400 is what I was talking about. And it’s a junk rating.
Whoops, my apologies, don't I look like a fool!
Although there is a VESA 400 mounting size.
wait for better price if you can.
i got it from ebay maybe two months ago for $450
I was waiting out for a deal on the gigabyte g34wqc.
This seems comparable. Anyone had any experience between the two?
Rtings seems to slightly favor the Dell https://www.rtings.com/monitor/tools/compare/dell-s3422dwg-v…AUD 30 voucher if anyone interested, expired 11/09, pm me
Interested
Bought this around end of Aug at $496. Perfectly working for me both gaming and working.
If you pair this monitor with a nvidia RTX 3000 series card, can you achieve 144Hz at its 3440x1440 resolution? Since this monitor only has AMD Freensync Premium.
What's the lead time like?
How's the black smearing on this baby
Any sign of LOVEKEANU or the eBay 20% deals back soon?
Last time they ran a 20% off Dell eBay this monitor was 'out of stock'…
Too late, it's finished
A bit expensive for a va panel without even usb c
