  • Me too, I tried to get a unidays code for catch some days ago, but no responses in the mega thread.

    Anyone got unidays code?

    Thanks in advance

      PMed ya

A piece of wire with a fuse in it?? OK

    • Isn't that what they all are?

It will also need to convert 12v from car into 5v for dash cam. So not just a wire

Anyone got any comments on this vs a Power Magic Pro or the Viofo offering?

    • +1

This looks like a basic hardwire kit that will keep your dashcam running continuously, stopping only when the voltage drops below a certain point (unsure if this is settable).

The Power Magic Pro (PMP) is far superior, in that it does that, but also allows you to set a couple of voltage points, but also set a time period before shutting down. It also has a manual switch to enable/disable it. So you can run your dashcam while the car is parked in the shopping centre, but turn it off when your car is home in the garage, for example.

      • @photonbuddy Thanks for that, I guess for $8.10 I can't complain that it's not as powerful. I suppose I can manually disconnect the dash camera when I don't want it on, yeah?

        • +1

Yes, you can … but …

You WILL forget to plug it in again 1 day, and that'll be the day you need it.

You could bodgey up a switch so that you can turn it off manually if you don't want parking mode, and still have it running automatically when you have the car running, but by the time you fiddle with it, it might be better to pay the extra.

Not very OzBargainy, I know …

          • @photonbuddy: Right now I'm using a powerbank, and I keep forgetting to recharge it, so this will be way better haha.

          • @ntb: How is that one better than the Dashmate? It doesn't come with a fuse tap (is it necessary? though the dashmate kit comes with some, reckon they'll be useful?), though I see it does come with four voltage settings…

            • +1

@kwchaz: It allows you to set what voltage the device will shut off the dashcam. That can be advantageous for battery life.

            • +1

              @kwchaz: Dash mate has 4 voltage settings too - 4 @ 12v~ and 4 @ 24V~

              • @lachhelix: OK… so… no huge improvement between the dashmate or the Viofo then? #_#

EDIT: Ah well, Harvey Norman was selling the Viofo kit along with the bluetooth remote and CPL lenses… and I can get 7.5% off HN GCs, so it was worth it to just do a buy there. I'll hand the two kits off to the local auto sparky and see what they make of it all.

        • I know this is not going to be seen by very many people, but if anyone finds this after hunting through pages of Google results: I bought both this Dashmate hardwire kit and the Viofo kit for the A129. My auto sparky went with the Dashmate because they "looked at the quality of both and picked the best out of the two".

      • +1

        Yes, it is settable.
        For 12v and 24v
        4 settings for each

  • I'm sorry to post a comment asking for the code here but may I also get a unidays catch code please?

  • Mine just arrived today.

Impressive piece of kit for $9!!!
Even at its regular price of $43.45 it still comes out cheaper than buying a generic one off eBay since the Dashmate kit comes with all the wiring, fuses, and connectors.
I find the eBay ones don't have any of that so you need to budget an extra $10 or so them.
On top of that, no soldering required with the Dashmate kit which makes life easier.
