thats a good price. I picked up a 3 cam system last week so I don't need the base station otherwise I would be tempted by this.

    • So, only one base station is required to handle the cameras and the video doorbell?

  • So what’s stopping a stranger from ripping the video door bell from your front of house

    • The mounting plate and non standard screw. Mine is at our front gate and no one has taken it yet, been a year now.

      • +1

The mounting plate is screwed to the door, however the doorbell itself is only attached to the mounting plate via a plastic clip which you use a sim card tool /paper clip to disengage.

And tbh, if someone really did try, they would easily rip off the mount fr the door, the mounting plate is only plastic.

That said, anyone who does do this will have their face recorded and saved to the Homebase. It's really a non issue.

        • +4

Provided person is dumb enough to steal a camera without hiding face.

although that's a risk that I took as well when I bought it.

    • Nobody likes their picture taken when they're doing the wrong thing. If some did do it then its lucky that it was just the door bell.

  • Will bunnings do price beat? Anyone has success in the past?

    • +1

Yep, price matched mine at bunnings a few months back, got it for 230. Also matched 4 eufycam 2's, got them cheaper aswell.

      • +1

Bunnings with beat it by 10%. Place order at special desk. Just make sure Officeworks is not clearing the stock.

        • My local Bunnings have previously refused to price match special order items. FML

          • +1

@Dauphin3: Thats some bs and i've never heard that before (ex-bunnings employee) and certainly isn't on their price match policy website. Luckily they're like Mcdonalds and they're on every second street corner so just try another store? Otherwise you can try lodging a complaint into head office here but I wouldn't hold your breath.

            • @sk3iron: "in stock"
being the key word in their policy

          • @Dauphin3: I got told same thing today. Only price match on "stocked items" I think they even say that in the TV ads now i think about it.
I just got JBHIFI to price match amazon, and bought 5% off gift cards.
Not as good as 10% but hey, whatever

  • Can I add a camera to the Homebase ???

    • Yep, I have 4 eufycam's attached to my homebase.

    • Yes

    • +4

Yes. Homebase 2 supports multiple cameras and has built-in 16GB storage for recordings which starts overwriting the oldest recordings if you run out of space. I've got 5 cameras connected for over a year and still haven't used up all the space.

But this deal sounds overpriced as I paid $349 for 4 cameras with Homebase 2.

      • Thanks for the reply .

      • How does a 2k Doorbell system be compared to most likely a 1080p camera system?

        • +1

If this was a 1080p vs 2k/4k/5k comparison for a security camera, I would have paid more attention.

But we're talking about a doorbell - so the use case here is that the person who presses the doorbell isn't going to be far away from the doorbell camera. And 1080p vs 2k resolution isn't going make much difference in identifying that person.

        Got a link?

These are great. If you're concerned about someone stealing your doorbell then maybe it's time to move.

    • +2

I bought a posh front door mat that got knocked off within two weeks of my first feet wiping. Door bell is still there. I rate the doorbell highly. I put a cheap mat out the front, easier than moving. Last i looked, the cheap mat was still out there too, but that might be because of the doorbell.

  • Any thoughts on this vs. Google Nest Doorbell that recently came out?

    • Google nest requires subscription to have this much data storage.

    • We have the Nest doorbell, it is really good. Notifications are pretty much instant and Google home integration is excellent. Which is what you want for a doorbell. I plan on still getting the Eufy Cams as security instead of the Nest security cams to avoid the Nest Aware subscription. 3 hours or recording is all I need for a doorbell.

  • If used with internal eufy cams can this replace traditional wired security systems that have alarms?

I heard tin hat is on sale now too..

  • Can you purchase additional chime?

    • I asked Eufy about this as I could not buy another homebase and their response was to get Amazon Echo dot etc as a chime. Google reserved the feature for their own Nest devices. My home is all google but will get an Echo dot just to use as chime.

  • How long the battery can last as it is facing to the street?

    • It says 6 months on the website. You can set the activity zone to not pick up street activity.

    • +3

Realistically it lasts only for 3-4 months consistently (100 days)

does the base support external usb storage?

  • +7

Had mine for a year and very happy with it apart from the lack of Google integration. It's handy for when couriers come when I'm not home because it will bing bong on my phone and then I use a wifi garage door opener so they can leave the package in the garage.

    • Mine is integrated with Google Nest Hub or did you mean something else?

      • hi sacs2k1,

When you say it's integrated with your Google Nest Hub, if someone presses the doorbell:

        a) Does your Google Nest Hub make a noise or alert?
        b) Does your Google Nest Hub show the doorbell camera feed automatically?

Just curious to know as I'm interested in this doorbell too :)

From what I've read, it seems like you can ask your Google Nest Hub to show you the front door and it'll stream the live video to the hub - but the automatic things (as mentioned as a) & b) above aren't possible :(

        • Apologies for the confusion. I don't have the doorbell - just the eufy camera setup and Google Nest Hub shows a live stream when I ask for it.

    • Huh. Couriers these days play the hide and seek game, ring the doorbell and run as fast as they can. By the time i get to the door 10 seconds later, they're already in the car and driving off.

How do you get a chance to even tell them what to do lol

  • Is there realistically any feasible/simple enough setup with this device for someone renting who cannot drill holes or make permanent fixtures to the property?

    • Not 100% sure it'll work with Eufy Doorbells but I was able to get my Ring Doorbell's base cable tied to my front security door then rest was follow instructions etc. I put a thin layer of foam tape thing to protect the grills. In case there's some rubbing causing damage over time.

Just for reference, you can hard wire this battery doorbell kit.

  • will any new version come soon? Those doorbells are too delay and laggy. In some reviews, it's nearly 5s after someone press the doorbell, all delivery men would be gone far by that time.

  • The one good thing I'll say about Ring's doorbells if you're worried about it being stolen, is that it has theft protection, so Ring will replace the doorbell if it gets stolen. I think Google Nest has the same policy as well and they just got released in Australia.

how's the lagness on this thing with our "Aussie" internet speed standard?

  • Noob to Eufy products.
Looking for a smart doorbell with decent local storage and without a monthly subscription.

Do you need the Homebase or will the doorbell work stand alone?
We use Google Home, so would this be a good choice or do you need Apple Homekit to run Eufy's Homebase?

If not this, can anyone recommend a good doorbell to integrate with Google/Android with local storage?

    Thanks

    • Seems to integrate with GA so pulled the trigger.

    • Eufy's home base does work for Google assistant, Alexa and Apple homekit. Just that some features might not be available on one of them.

This is one of the good ones without subscription and decent storage.

  • Got it from Jb Hifi price matched Officeworks $249 just now, paid with 10% off gift card that purchased from coles few months ago. Thanks

  • +1

Thanks OP. Got for $224.1 from Bunnings:)

    • How does that work as a special order? guessing you have to wait a bit?

  • Does this work with their lock? I.e. someone rings the doorbell and you see them and can buzz them in the lock?

  • Thought this page might be helpful for new owners

  • These eufy got hacked not long ago

    • Not hacked, they made a software error. And patched it pretty much straight away.

      • -2

That’s what they said to save face

    • Yes. It was not hacked. Though, it doesn't look good in terms of PR.

      • Regardless, I would only use these cameras via local storage and definitely not on the cloud.

  • It's not showing $250?
