  • Just need a gutsy Bench grinder to bolt it to.

Where do you get your belts?

    • This is my first linishing attachment, I havent got that far yet. xD

    • I get them from https://www.thesandpaperman.com.au

I've had an earlier version of this belt grinder for ~10yrs. Got a nice beefy loud grinder

  • You can get a dedicated belt+disc sander cheaper, and not have to fuss around.
The cheap one I have is pretty compact too.

Thats what I was thinking too….

    • What one did you buy

I think it is GMC, must be over 10yo.
        Paid $130ish, I think.

Different strokes really. This one is very strong and has a large range of belts available and has a much larger surface area.

I have belts from 80 grit all the way up to about 1000 grit, and of many different constructions and abrasives.

I mainly use it for grinding metals. Used to live on acreage and had many bladed tools and ride on mower. This would touch up the edge real quick. Or I could use a finer grit and clean rust off other metal things.

    • When I looked at the cheap stand alone/all in ones a few years ago I came to the conclusion that they were generally gutless rubbish.

If you have an existing grinder with grunt these are a good solution.

      • I guess.
I have a belt sander that hardly gets used because it is too aggressive.
Most things I'm looking to smooth need care not brute power.

I have a Metabo and Bosch belt sanders both of which can be turned into a bench sander and with variable speed and they are fine.

Not enough grunt in your bench grinder and this gadget will bog down.

The side disc is very useful.

Some peoples needs may surpass a 'compact' cheap combo unit.. I think this is good value

  • Thanks I've been wanting one of these, I decided to get the 6" grinder as well for $270 - good quality grinder for 20 bucks more than the normal price for the multitool alone.

I have a cheap Ryobi version, these are a bit more versatile, and simpler to change the belts.

    • Nice, yeah I did notice that as well, that looked like good value.
I have been keeping an eye out for second hand ones but haven't really seen much.
I already have an Abbott & Ashby 8" Bench Grinder so I was keen to just get this as well when it was on sale.

  • $191 for me for some reason. Anyone have any luck applying a racv discount or similar to this?

    • I checked on that, unfortunately it is excluded.

Love the weird bargains that come up here, not for me, but interesting and really good!
