    • Title does mention you must be an Origin Spike customer ….

  • Sweet. Sometimes i think ozbargain reads my mind.

Dont worry they will claw that saving back through overpriced power.

    • how overpriced are they?

      • If you exit the contract, they throw you a pretty sweet deal. The only company that beats them is Reamped (for me anyway).

        • I agree. Been with origin for many years, I chose to stay each time i tried to switch

  • Is anyone with Origin kind enough to order 3 for me? I can pick it up from anywhere inner west Sydney.

Try this and save the coin, works on TV's and a stack of IR appliances also https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/153972254525

      • What app does this use? I couldn’t tell from reading through the ebay site, it just says APP.

      • Just want to reiterate this suggestion. Use an RM3 mini for tv control via Alexa "Turn on the tv", "turn on ESPN" The version 4 of the mini has a little fitting that can support it being under mounted on say a coffee table, bookshelf or door frame. Got one on AliExpress for around $15 the other day. For a small amount extra you can buy a USB cable with a temp and humidity sensor that reports to the app for decision making or auto on. Will need an old phone charger head or spare USB plug.

      • This looks like a great little device!

  • So these work with ducted heating system?

    • +1

It only works only with AC units that are controlled by infra-red remote.
      So, no ducted units.

    • not sure but i will find out. it says anything with a remote should work and it supports Bonaire and brivis so i shall see

Omg has this been modified so they can turn your air conditioning off when they want?

Sorry just pretending I'm reading some FB comments

    • Has a camera built in too. So they can turn up the heat and watch you get nekid!

  • Got the deal last time. A lot of the features require an ongoing subscription (I think it was 9.95 a month).

    • +1

I've had a sensibo for a few years now.. I didn't know they had a subscription thing until recently. I reckon you can safely ignore all that… Although that said, most of my automation is done with Home Assistant rather than the sensibo app.

      • Ditto. But my fear is that they’ll suddenly start making older units less useful without the subscription. From memory there’s no local control over the device and it’s reliant on the Sensibo server. Until that day though I’m happy with my three units.

  • I wouldn't pay full price but it's a pretty useful device.

    • Has anyone used this?

Yeah I've got one of the Mirabella ones and use it via the Tuya Smart app. Works fine with my LG ducted AC system which has IR receiver. Can turn on/off, set temperature, change modes, change fan speed - all the basics you need. Plus works with Google home so can voice control. Very happy with it. Not sure if the Sensibo had more features for the money. Mirabella also can control my TV.

      • I've got the Genio IR for the AC in my kids room and it works well. I mostly leave it to my automation rules (turns the aircon/heat on between certain hours if the outside temp drops below a certain value, turns the aircon/cool on if outside goes above a certain value, turns it off at a predefined time each morning) and it works a treat. I use the Mirabella Genio app, but the tuya/smartgrid/others all have similar features. And yes, integrates with my google home as well (but like I said, automation does 95% of the operation for my situation).

  • Interestingly, I used to be with origin for electricity but no more and still managed to purchase. It arrived a couple of days ago. Set it up, and realised I wasted 70 bucks on it because I hardly ever use my heater anyway 😂
Off to ebay it goes I reckon haha.
