½ Price Toblerone 200g $2.50 ($1.25/100g) @ Coles

1090

With the increase in price of the 360g bar to $12 and half price at $6, that is an appalling $1.67/100g
However the 200g bar is $5 and half price at $2.50 which is $1.25/100g which is now the best way to buy Toblerone in bulk.
Stock up this week to last until Mother's day next year….

Time to stock up. I noticed the price increase on the larger bars too

Yes, I noticed that price/100g difference when I was at Coles yesterday - they had the 360g bars prominently displayed (of course) on the end of the aisle , but the 200g ones just in the normal place on the shelf, so it definitely pays to compare.

They don't have white or dark at all though - Big W have both for $6 in the 360g bars for anyone interested - white, dark.

The white chocolate Toblerone is so good, probably my favourite chocolate atm. Recommend trying if like me you prefer white chocolate in general over milk and dark.

Where can I get the Fruit and Nut variety, any suggestions?

Just another example of companies "listening" to their customers.

Even worse then the weight reduction, they ruined the shape of the bar. The big spaces between the triangles look bad and break poorly. Big fail all around

  • Damn it. Just bought the big one.

$1.67 still isn't too bad per 100g with the increased prices. That's about my cut-off 1.60-1.70 per 100g, anything more than that and it's no purchase..

Wow, some people take their Toblerone prices very seriously.

    • Fear and loathing in the woolies chocolate aisle..

I didn’t realize there was a whole community built around the pricing of Toblerones

    • Per unit pricing (awesome)- also useful in the Coles new dog treats self pick section. From memory a !tiny! single unknown smoked Dog bone works out to be about about $4.haha

I thought Toblerone was more popular for Father's Day vs Mother's Day…

Don't know why the dark version is not ranged in ColesWorths- prefer it to the milk variant.

The White and Dark Chocolate Toblerone is only widely available through the Big W chain of stores.

      • Weird isn't it? I certainly wouldn't be shopping for chocolate at Big W, so wouldn't have known they had it there!

Toblerone is my internal CPI index.

Slowing tracking the price of the Classic sized toblerone over the years.

As mentioned before, that decrease in size from 400g to 360g was really nasty.

About 6 years ago they used to retail at $5 for 400g, with even lower on special (down to about 80c/100g).

I guess these price increases are good for my health, I have significantly reduced my chocolate consumption as I cannot get the impression that I am being ripped off if I have to pay more than $1.25/100g.

  • It is a rip-off for the larger packs - first they reduced the size from 400g to 360g and kept the price the same (effective 11% increase - waaay more than CPI, even over a few years). Now they increased the sale price from $5 to $6 for the 360g pack (effective price increase of 20% - on top of the previous 11%).

Reminds me of private health insurance - they are the only other thing I can think of that has this kind of increases.

  • Damn, needed you around a few days ago.
I stocked up on the big ones at half price for Father's Day.
Ah well, good enough is sometimes good enough.

  • What's the crunchy bits in Toblerone bars?
