Wacom Intuos Medium without Bluetooth - Black $239.20 Delivered @ Wacom

40

Deal is 20% off the store's listed price of $299. Non-bluetooth versions on amazon run $289. If you google whether bluetooth is a useful feature, the results indicate that no, it sucks.

Hopefully a good stay at home product for the artists amongst us.

  • Is this something to use to take notes on the computer? Not into drawing but would love to start taking notes on computer and if this can hold up would be good.

I was looking at this a few days ago but just was not sure.

I imagine it could be very good for that but you'd have to maybe google for "handwriting notes with wacom tablet" or something. I only have experience drawing in photoshop with one so can't speak to note taking. But yeah it is basically replicating stroke and pressure level to reproduce what you did on tablet, on screen.

I think there are cheaper alternatives since Intuos is catered for drawing - Wacom keeps changing the names of their lines but I think their budget range is now called One.
I also know even for people like myself who work in the art industry there are other brands like Monoprice that are even cheaper than Wacoms, so if you're just looking at notetaking maybe those would be more wallet-friendly (and would maybe come with more specific note-taking capabilities)

It depends on what your criteria for note taking is.

When using an Intuos, you map the screen to the tablet, so if you write in the top left, your mark will be left in the top left of your screen. This means you'll need to be staring at your screen to make sure that you're writing in the correct place.

if you want to draw directly on what you're looking at you have a few options, https://estore.wacom.com/en-AU/wacom-cintiq-pro-16.html is one, another could be a Windows Ink compatible laptop, with a Windows Ink pen https://www.windowscentral.com/best-laptops-pen-support-wind…

I'm a secondary teacher and I use graphics tablets for online teaching and making tutorial videos. I have an older model of this Wacom tablet and an "xp-pen Deco Fun S" that I got from Amazon for $40. For my purposes I actually prefer the el cheapo one. Xp-pen and Huion are actually really great for way less money.

  • I just looked at similar item yesterday and did a bit of research and comparison. Decided to get the Intuos Small with Bluetooth for $129 (promo down from $179) because if you get the non-Bluetooth one you can't get the free Clip Studio Pro software (which is at least $50 on its own).

If you have an option to use the Creative kids voucher worth $100, below is a good deal. I got one for my kid who loves drawing.

I got this for my daughter. I tried it out of course.
What I realised, if you cannot draw good on paper, you are not going to draw good on on the computer either.

If you have kids, you can get it free using the creative kids voucher from the below deal. I received mine 2 weeks back.

I was looking at tablets earlier to use with OneNote and MS Teams in Windows 10.
XP Pen and Huion seem to be the more popular alternatives to the more expensive Wacom tablets.

For a pen display (screen you can draw on directly), Huion Kamvas 13 has been working flawlessly for me in day long sessions with connected learning classes using MS Teams.
The cheapest at the moment is on Amazon for $347 if you check the $42 coupon, and it looks like the stand is included.

Prior to the pen display I was using an XP Pen Deco 03, this is a wireless (2.4GHz) graphics tablet which you draw on, but need to look at your monitor (like the Wacom Intuos).
The Deco 03 has a handy red dial which can be customised for scroll, zoom etc, as well as 6 programmable buttons and works both wireless and usb wired.
It also worked well with OneNote and MS Teams, but I preferred drawing on the screen so went with the pen display.
These used to be under $90 on amazon in July, but are currently $129

+1 for xp pen. Crazy good value

  • i'd recommend to just get an older version of this tbh if you have high hopes for it. The price is too damn high for the satisfaction you get, does not give the same results as on paper haha and does not make u suddenly good at art even if u can draw decently. There is a decent learning curve to getting used to drawing on this.

i have an older model CTL490 and it is still kinda finicky to use, only just got used to it to draw on photoshop recently and ive had it for atleast 2 years. when i first got it it pissed me off enough to put me off using it for quite a long time.

    • I found it pretty easy to get used to when i used one years ago to be honest. Drawing is hard because drawing is hard, doesn't matter the medium. My goal for this one is to get accustomed to how colour works more than worrying about form and style too much.
