Has anyone got this and can comment on how effective this is?

    • +7

probably about as effective as using a normal spoon with hot water

      • +2

So effective for about one scoop and then you have to dip it in the hot water again?

    • +2

I've had one for a while, before it we had a cheapy plastic one and the difference is super noticeable. My partner always has toasty hands and he can get perfect little scoops with ice cream straight out of the freezer, I have had a bit of trouble with it but it works well if I scoop slower. All in all, it absolutely works!

    • I have it and still struggling as much as I used to with a spoon. Only positive is that it doesn’t bend in the middle like the spoon used to.

    • I have a similar ice cream scoop and they work much better than normal spoons! You get that proper scoop of ice cream in your bowl

  • OOS

    • That was quick.

    • I just canceled mine if anyone wants the last one (I ended up just buying a $6 cheapo ice cream scoop from ebay since I had a $5 ebay voucher, so it only cost $1).

$20 for an ice cream scoop?

    • +2

Bringing back happy childhood recollections of icecream parlours… priceless.

(I’m only assuming this on behalf of folks with pleasant childhoods)

    • +1

Now it's $30 for an ice cream scoop

Check out the reviews from other Ozb'ers in a previous deal if you're on the fence about the product itself: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/576149

I imagine those in lockdown are going to be eating more icecream while we're still in lockdown over the summer, so this little dopamine-hit-of-a-purchase would make their lives abit better, think of it as a high yield investment /shitposting

      • in lock down you eat ice cream straight out of the tub with a spoon. no need to make it fancy and put it into a bowl.

    BJ ice cream

    cum again?

i'm more a fan of chocolate flavoured ice cream

  • $20 ??? i just use my fingers… free… and bonus is, no one will dare to touch it after me! wohooo the whole bucket just for me

  • +1

These scoops work well, but are useless for scooping out of the 1LTR tubs. i.e. Connoisseur. They just can't get in there. Besides, who needs a scoop when you get it straight from the tub anyway.

    • Why can’t it fit inside the 1lt tub?

  • +1

"scoops create a bigger looking portion by eliminating compression which gives you 20 percent more volume of ice cream per gallon"

    Sneaky bastards!

  • I bought one of the $5 ALDI ones and I've been pretty happy with it. Before that we were using one of the old trigger mechanism that pulled the bar across the spoon!

  • I've had one of these for about 10 years and it works well. I usually give it a shake before I use it to get the liquid moving - I don't if it makes a difference but I do it out of habit. Also, don't put it in the dishwasher.

I'd expect that this $6 stainless steel one from Target would do just as well?

    • The zeroll has, I assume, antifreeze-like liquid in the handle which warms the scoop as you hold it and makes it easier to cut through the ice-cream.

If anyone wants an actual icecream scoop that works properly. Look up "Midnight Scoop". It was designed by am engineer to reduce strain on your hand by creating a push with your palm style of scooping rather than a drag with your hand at an angle, which causes strain and arm pain.

I bought one years ago and have loved it since.

    • Cool. But $50! Cool though, from a functional perspective.

      • Definitely worth it. I paid $80 when it first came out. Still happy with it.

  • I much prefer the ones with a lever or trigger…
