Samsung SmartTag+ $48.61 + Postage (Import) @ F Digital via Catch

170

So far the best price I could find for the new SmartTag+ (with the UWB).
It is an overseas stock, but I don't think there is any local stock yet.

Currently $70 at Amazon, ($50 for the non plus version), $79 at DickSmith.
I think $59 was the lowest I could remember

Good luck using Apple's Tag with Samsung phone
Different ecosystem, no point arguing about the cost of phones/watches/tags/etc Apple vs Samsung if someone is already in the ecosystem

I think they're meaning Apple infamous for their high RRPs is actually providing a lower price on a similar product.

Never thought I'd see the day an Apple product was cheaper than Samsung's.

You forget that you also have to factor in the cost of a keyring to hold the Apple device, which if you go first party doubles the price.

          • @TheRealCJ: $5 delivered for 2 decent holders on amazon.

            • @vodamerc: Correct, but that's third party… Apple wants you to buy their own branded or officially sanctioned ones. Also it means you have to wait for another product before you can properly use your new tags, whereas with the Samsung you can use it immediately without additional purchases.

I just had a look at Amazon, and most of the cheap (no 5 dollar for two, most of the prime delivery ones are around 15-20 dollars for 4) airtag keyring holders are marked for delivery around Wednesday the 8th of September if I ordered them today, so if I went out to the Apple store and bought some airtags, my choices would be pay the extravagant prices at Apple, buy cheaper (but still more expensive) prices at jb hifi or a phone case kiosk, or wait ten days before I can attach them to my keys.

Nobody would argue that the airtags are cheaper, but the reason they're cheaper is because Apple expects you to pay twice for both the device and the holder to make it fully functional. If they had included a holder in the box I guarantee you they'd charge at least an extra 20 dollars per tag.

@TheRealCJ: I bought these on Thursday and they were delivered this morning. Works as you’d expect, $5 for 2.

@vodamerc: Oh yeah, it says fastest delivery by Monday… If you pay extra. So just again, double the price and wait two days.

                  • @TheRealCJ: Nah it was prime free delivery for me.

@vodamerc: Then you got lucky, because all estimated deliveries now are wednesday the 8th

                      • @TheRealCJ: It’s the weekend what do you expect lol

@vodamerc: So? Now in addition to waiting you now have to plan days in advance to buy your new keyrings?

Literally nothing to do with his comment…..

      Comparing Apples and oranges..

      • Not really, they are both the same category of product and supposed to perform similar functions.

          Comparing Apples and.. Samsungs

        • Silly you, making a casual, accurate observation like that, which anyone with even half a brain can understand…..

    • Try put an apple tag on your keyring…useless out of the box.

  • Plus +

  • Works pretty well with my car keys atm

    • Does ur phone support UWB?

Put it in your misses' bag so you can track where she goes?

      And your kids

  • Bought a few of these from catch, shipping takes awhile since overseas stock. But the tag works well, also like how you can use the Tag to find your phone when lost even if its set to silent…

    Would recommend.

  • $10 shipping kinda kills the deal.

  • Heard there will be a lte version soon

    • That will be very interesting, as it would then be a GPS tracker.
It would need a GPS module, LTE module,… I would expect a battery life of few hours.
