Showing as $329 for me still

Edit. It seems the 20% if at checkout. OP maybe update the post to mention this?

    • Thanks - I added that to the description

  • Any review and compare to Edifier?

    • There is a review here https://au.pcmag.com/speakers/83475/audioengine-a1 and some reviews on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=audioengine+a1

I don't think there are any comparisons though!

    • I heard the Edifier S350DB are really good but they're $329 so a bit more than this

      • +5

S350db comes with a subwoofer, so for home entertainment or PC use there is no comparison. The S350DB is better.

        • can you add a sub to this? the $99 jbl sub for example

          • @ChatCPT: It has a subwoofer port on it. So you can add a sub to it, but i don't think the JBL one you are referring to can, as that is specific for their sound bar range. Don't quote me 100% on the JBL though.

            • +1

@ONEMariachi: Just did hacked the jbl sub and it sounds fantastic! Tried it on my yamaha soundbar!

      • S350DB is Home theatre territory, compared to PC speakers, I think you can guess they'll be a step above.

  • Says 20% on checkout, 3 in stock

  • good price on the bamboo A5+ too

F it - was looking at these after being turned off the Edifiers so this is opportune timing. Paid $263.20, thanks for the deal

No worries! Mine arrive on Saturday - FYI the official speaker stands are OOS everywhere and likely to arrive in stock mid September. Apparently stands are essential for these speakers.

      1. Cheap - but they get dusty and that isn't ideal: https://www.amazon.com.au/Acoustic-Isolation-Monitor-Speaker…
      2. Bought these - ordered them yesterday and they arrived today: https://www.spacehifi.com.au/av-furniture/speaker-stands/kan…

Alternatively - you could just prop them up to angle to yours ears with a book or something 😉

      Edit: Official ones: https://www.amazon.com.au/Audioengine-DS1-Desktop-Stand-Pair…

Fine, I bought the stand as well.

Thanks for the heads up though

        • No worries!

Half a tennis ball makes a decent ghetto stand

      • Just got them today, its quite good, was a bit worried about sound quality.

Really need a stand though.. How do you like those Kanto ones? Do the A1 fit well on them or would it be better to go with the official ones?

        • Yeah, I'd recommend them - look great and they fit really well.

I'd say it's up to you, whatever aesthetic is more appealing to you!

          • @jamki: Ended up getting the Kanto stands, it's perfect. Angles the speakers up perfectly and holy crap it made a huge difference.

              @buckethat: @buckethat glad you're happy with them mate 👌

As much as I like the value prop of the edifiers… they look like an eyesore for me.. and for something I'll be putting on my desk, I'm happy to pay more for a better looking product. Hopefully these sounds good.

    • after being turned off the Edifiers

What turned you off the edifiers?

      • The discussions in the chat and I think (don't correct me if I'm wrong!) that these are slightly smaller.

I think sound quality was OK but these are meant to be slightly better.

With it all I didn't feel as confident so ended up spending more.

        • yeah okay. I was just curious as I've been suggested them recently and I've only just become recently familiar with them.

I've got some old A2s, not the current A2+
They have a nice clear sound but they are lacking in base, and I'm not a fan of big base.
The cost of a sub to go with it is pretty pricey.
The rubber that surrounds the cone fell apart after a couple of years. My repair using silicone and a cheap china replacement works so far, I'm not sure if sound quality suffered.

Not sure why Audio Engines keep getting upvoted. Until they fix their design issues, I wouldn’t touch them for the price. Go Google Audio Engines and you will see there’s quite a few unhappy customers when it comes to components failing due the heat sink design. Having said this, there will be loyal followers who would vouch for them…it’s a love hate thing.

    • Thanks for the info. What would you recommend as good alternatives?

Edifers have really good reviews - if I had more desk space I would have gotten these: https://www.amazon.com.au/Edifier-R1700BT-Bluetooth-Bookshel…

        • I have the R1700BTs and really like them. Astounded how good they are for the price (I paid $135 delivered)

        • Thanks, I have a decent receiver sitting around at the moment so might wait to see when a decent pair of passive bookshelf units comes up on discount.

  • The brandtactics website doesn't inspire confidence in me

    • haha - just saw it… I agree!

Luckily their reviews on Amazon seem good: https://www.amazon.com.au/sp?encoding=UTF8&asin=B08CRY9SYT&isAmazonFulfilled=0&ref=olp_merch_name_1&seller=A1W358ZJ9KRCRS

  • Audioengine HD3 or A1, which one is better?

  • Does anyone own the HD4? Can't decide between HD3, HD4 or A5+ for my desktop

    • HD4 would be my pick. But I like speakers with grilles (KEF excepted).

      • HD4 is tempting but I don't know enough about speakers to know if its worth the extra $130.

Couldn't find much comparsion between HD3/4 then I realised HD4 just released in 2021 compared to the HD3 which came out in 2016.

        • +1

More than an inch wider and deeper, but same height.

          2.75" woofer vs 4" leading to a lower frequency response (60Hz HD4 vs 65 Hz HD3).

HD4 is twice as powerful (60 RMS vs 30 RMS HD3).

  • what would be a better setup to listen to EDM at home? audio engine a5+ or should I bump the budget and get something like the pioneer DJ 80?

  • I’ve got the P4 and they are great

  • What's the difference between these and the A2/A2+?
