Im hanging out for the Roborock S5 Max to drop down to around the $500/600 mark. From what I have read, this is a perfectly good robo vac but not such a great robo mop?

    • Haven't tried the mop function at all, but it does a great job on hard floors vacuuming. It does need its bin emptied every time if you have large rugs.

    • Heard the mop function on either isn't worth bothering.

Edit: Also heard the s5 max price of $500ish launched around midnight and was sold out pretty quick. Unlikely you'd catch it at that price.

      • Wait as is midnight just past? Damn I'd love that price

During Prime week I just missed out on the s5 max so I opted for the s6 pure. I had low expectations of the mop but they were exceeded. Keeping in mind that it is basically dragging a wet rag lightly along the floor, it actually does quite a decent job on my timber floors. I have no expectation that it would buff out stains or anything though. I'm more interested in keeping the dust at bay. For that it works fine.

One aspect of the s6 mop that I think is different from the s5max is you can't specify "no mop" zones which might trip some people up. With the s6 you only have "no go" zones, which includes vac and mop if you get the distinction? So say you have an area within a room that you want vac'd but not mopped, that might be tricky with the s6. It isn't a problem for me as my rooms are either all mop or no mop - or I don't need no mop zones. I just attach the mop for those rooms I want mopped.

  • anyone know when will the s7 max be available?

I'de want the s7 mopping function with the s6max duo cameras

The VIOMI S9 is cheaper and has an auto empty station.

  • Merged from Roborock S6 Pure $679.15 Delivered @ Roborock MyDeal

    Roborock S6 Pure robot vacuum.

I think this is as cheap as this model will get for a while…. $799 most stores. Amazon just dropped price today to $719.

I just bought one to replace my S50…. Loved it but after 4 years working every single day and several spare parts added, it has been retired to downstairs. Best robot you will ever own! Love this thing.

Roborock S6 Pure takes everything great from the award-winning S6 and delivers it in a revamped modern package, at a lower price point. Maximise your mopping efficiency with a larger water tank and lighter form-factor than its predecessor. The improved integration of thirteen types of advanced sensors ensures superior tracking and fall avoidance, providing a stress-free clean, every time.

S6 Pure comes packed with the same powerful 2000Pa strong suction, laser room measurement & mapping, ingenious carpet detection, washable HEPA filter and the scheduling flexibility of the Roborock Mobile or Xiaomi Mi Home App. It's everything you expect from a leading, contemporary robot vacuum.

    • Does it empty the dust bin on it it’s own?

Your are the vaccum to the vaccum

      • I got Viomi S9 UV and that does the empty part and so far works really well. i want to get another for upper floor so wondering what is difference in this one and viomi s9

        • Nice. The empty part is a must for who I’m buying it for. I’ll look into it. Hopefully someone can clarify the difference for you!

          • @Edamamme: not sure what is the difference but so far looks like S9 is better and cheaper as well. this is around 599AUD at moment and does very well mopping. i am almost ready to get another but I was thinking maybe I should have 2 option

        • Does it remove the tangled hair from the rollers as well as that's the most painful part.

Emptying the dust canister is a 2 min job.

    • No. You empty it each day. Takes about 2 mins.

      • I only vacuum once a week. And my house is clean
Not much dust to vacuum daily…

I have the Roborock and it's awesome

    • Don’t forget to use the $20 little birdie voucher if you have one- looks like they’re still available.

Upvoted. I’m happy with my D9 so won’t be getting this deal though.

    • This? Or S5 max?

      • They're very similar, the S5 max just has a larger water tank. However the S6 Pure has been below $550 many, many times before so you'd be better off waiting for another inevitable price drop on it.

    • Is the mopping function effective or just wets the floor

    • I've only used it once to be honest. Not a deal breaker for me. It works but isn't amazing. The vacuum cleaning function is incredible. Maps your house with this Lidar and gets every single inch.

  • hey all, never had a robot vacuum before, so apologies for the noob question - how do these deal with small height changes in the environment please?

i live in an apartment with 2x carpeted bedrooms, wooden floorboards (i'm renting, it's a new building, the floorboards appear to be raw/unfinished/not covered), and 2x tiled bathrooms. there is roughly a 10mm height drop going into each of the bathrooms, how do these little fellas manage with those kinds of things please?

    thanks in advance! :)

      Hey,

They are really good at detecting different surfaces. There is a carpet mode that increases suction when it is detected. As for moving between surfaces as long as there is no step it will be fine.
The main thing they get snagged on are wires, cords and bits of paper or socks left on the floor. Other than that they are amazing!

      • thanks dany boy :)

Around 10mm will be fine with the s6 pure. 20mm is its threshold limit. In my experience though it can struggle with that with the mop attached. Ramps/mats can be a simple workaround.

      • thanks bob :)
