Bought one of these recently, does a great job but it is a serious pain to install. Both fans need to be removed to install the heat sink then reattached afterwards. Getting the bottom clip back on sucked as it’s a tension wire thing, getting your fingers under an already installed heat sink to clip it in isn’t easy.
But once it’s installed it’s smooth sailing.
This reason is why if happily pay more for a cooler with a better mounting mechanism like one from noctua. People forget that at the end of the day if the cooler doesn't make good contact with the CPU it's useless.
I found it pretty easy to install actually, the clips stay attached to the cooler on the sides not bottom, when installed hold fans to cooler and pull clips around..
So looks like I might have grabbed the last one of these at this price.
Will find out the extent of the pain installing as mentioned by @freefall101.
Could just be I'm uncoordinated, but I recommend getting a sense of how the wires hold the fans in place before putting in the heatsink, especially if it's a cramped space. At least it's very secure, bolts to the backplate rather than being the usual two clip setup (at least for AM4). I also put the board in the case prior to putting the heatsink on, would have been a lot easier the other way around.
Works extremely well under load, although I've noticed it idles at fairly high temps on a 3700X (about 40-45C). Not that it matters, the fan speed is also dropping right down so it is at least silent and it stayed under 70C during a stress test. Didn't even hit the max fan speed in the stress test either.
So does my 3500X with a similarly performing cooler (ID-Cooling SE-224-XT). It's just Zen 2 things.
I'm sure this is a decent cooler but I laugh at how they put Esports in its name lol.
Can vouch for this cpu cooler, really good.
