The clock runs on a CR1220 battery. I think I would rather buy the Kmart Alarm Clock for $7.00, takes 3 AAA batteries.

    • I don't see a problem. The CR1220 has a shelf life of up to 8 years. Keep your alarm clock on a shelf and the battery will outlast the clock.

Does the clock have an expiry date?

        • +3

Hi, thanks for the interest in it. It has no expiry date, as long as the product works, it will keep working.

The ICStation has a 5V input so I suspect it the CR1220 cell is only to keep time when the main power source is disconnected. However, ICStation clock is a DIY kit rather than a finished product so I don't think it's really designed for the same market as the Kmart clock.

      • Yes, you are right. the CR1220 cell is only to keep time when the main power source is disconnected.

Is it replaceable? No -> this is junk.

Well, this is a DIY Kit. Maybe we shouldn't just judge from its function. The fun is to learn electronics, or practice soldering skills…

        • -6

No, if you can't replace a battery then it's junk.

          • +1

@deme: ? You can replace the battery in this kit - it's socketed (see part #9 in list)…

            • @bdl: Thank you for point it out . We just confirmed with the engineer this was indeed can be replaced, as long as it is CR1220 battery

            • +1

@bdl: And even if you couldn't, replacing it would be another project in itself - i.e. extra free project.

And they're great kids. My daughter just completed the laser harp a while ago and she was dead chuffed to get it working (particularly when I soldered the "difficult bit" of the IC socket on the wrong side of the board. Oops).

I'll be buying some of these ones right now.

          • @banana365: Haha:) Nice to know that your daughter enjoyed that laser harp kit. Thank you for your always support. Remember: you may try to extra 10% off code newmember if you did not use it in the 1st order.

      This isnt for you.

  • Hey!
Just wondering… do you sell any solder (preferably lead free?)

    • Hey! Yes, we sell some solder, but the current types are all contained lead.. If you need, we can source the lead free solder as per your request, just let us know the weight and dia. pls. You can send a private message to us for more details:)

  • @ICStation
Do you have a kit for a 12vdc led chaser or similar? I need to fire 200 individual electromagnets sequentially in a continuous sequence with a variable 0-12v power controller

Sorry, we do not have that kind of kit.
